hooked on a feeling - Kaskara - August 07, 2014 For my bro. Kaskara wondered how her brother was doing these days. She saw him every now and then, usually in passing, but she rarely had a chance to speak with him directly. Especially now he was the Beta, she wanted to catch up with him and see how he was doing. Life in the Creek hadn't been smooth since she joined, but she wouldn't trade it for the world. She had her brother, and now Bazi, and soon she hoped she would find friends among the other wolves. The only regret she had was that there were wolves that were leaving. Not only Fox, but now Njal and Tuwawi and their brood. It would mean less mouths to feed, true, but also less stability overall. A small part of her hoped they would change their minds and remain, but she also doubted Njal wanted to take direction from a child, which Bazi was in his eyes. She was less than two years old, and even Kaskara sometimes had issue with it, but she had sworn herself to the woman, and she would not become an oath breaker for an age difference. The silver-dusted wolf found herself following Scimitar's scent, hoping to find him so they could enjoy some sibling bonding time. RE: hooked on a feeling - Scimitar - August 11, 2014 His days were full of what they had been before -- as the new Beta, the agouti male did not find much difference in his day to day tasks.. at least not yet. Perhaps it was the simple fact that the other Creek wolves did not trust him in the position just yet.. or, perhaps it was that life was blissfully quiet for the wolves of Swiftcurrent Creek. The day found him rounding the borders -- more often than not it was where he would be. His thoughts were perhaps darker with suspicion. Bazi, when he did come across her, smelled suspiciously much like Shadow.. constantly. Perhaps his own impression of what he and the white dove had been developing for had been nothing more than his imagination -- or, perhaps now with her new rank, she was blossoming in to the flower he had always knew she was.. and the other men of the Creek were far more eager to take advantage of this. It was these dark and brooding thoughts that lulled a sigh from him, and only when the wind whipped past him to allow Kaskara's familiar scent to tantalize his nostrils did the Frostfur slow his pace, his muzzle lifting as his aqua eyes sought out her chocolate form. RE: hooked on a feeling - Kaskara - August 20, 2014 Finding Scimitar wasn't hard after all, pacing a wolf-shaped path near the borders. Kas smiled softly as he looked up to find her, and she nudged him gently as she reached him. She was infinitely glad she had found him here and had joined this pack with him, even after all the uproar in Blacktail Deer Plateau. She had made a mess of that, and so far her vow to keep out of trouble here was holding steady. "You look troubled," she observed, noting the slight furrow of his brow and the limpness of his ears. These were signs she knew from childhood, signs that he had probably worked hard to hide from others. Kaskara fell into step beside him, encouraging him to continue his patrol. Instead of stopping, she would simply join him. There was no need to stop his work just to talk. RE: hooked on a feeling - Scimitar - August 29, 2014 Kaskara glided up beside him, stirring the male to tilt his muzzle down and smooth a welcoming nudge to the crown of her head. She was an impressive size for a female -- strength could be seen rippling beneath her pelt, and he recalled his mother once telling him that her build for a female was unusual for her heritage. But she was beautiful, and one day he knew a male would come along and whisk her off her paws -- he had just better treat her right. "Nope," he remarked back, trying to neutralize his face as she took step beside him. His eyes wavered from her to gaze back upon the horizon, his nose lifting as he tested the myriad of scents about them -- nothing threatening yet. Not wanting to divulge his pitiful woes upon his sister, he instead did what any man would do. Shift the discussion away from himself. "How are you settling in?" RE: hooked on a feeling - Kaskara - August 29, 2014 Kas returned his embrace with one of her own, nuzzling the fur beneath his chin before pulling away to look him over. He lied to her, but she did not push it; eventually he would want to tell her of his troubles, and she would be there to listen to Scimitar whenever he needed to unleash his troubles upon a friendly ear. She was not afraid of his brief lie, because it was a lie everyone told when they didn't want to speak of their worries or were unsure themselves. When he asked how she was settling in, she smiled warmly as they continued their walk. "Great! I think I'll really like it here. Bazi is wonderfully kind to me, even after all she's been through." It was not something she had expected at first, but of course Kas appreciated the white dove's friendship even more. "I know she's been stressed with everything lately. Fox left, and now Njal and Tuwawi...I just hope we can continue here when they're gone." That was a lot of wolves to leave within such a short time, and Kaskara knew that Bazi was still very young to be an alpha. RE: hooked on a feeling - Scimitar - September 01, 2014 His ears flickered as she spoke, taking in her mild worries with a non-committal grunt. "You and Bazi get along well, eh?" He preened the question then, wondering if somehow, he could somehow get a different form of information from his sister. Clearing his throat, knowing how absolutely transparent he was being, especially in front of his sister who knew him best of all, Scim flashed her a glance as he inhaled sharply. "Do you notice how much time she spends with Shadow?" There was a small pause as he studied her darker features, wondering what her own thoughts of the silver male were. Perhaps he was a far better choice for Bazi than himself -- the mouthy scout might have been everything she required as a partner. RE: hooked on a feeling - Kaskara - September 05, 2014 "Pretty well, I'd say." She wasn't sure where he was going with this, but there was no reason to lie to Scimitar. Then he cleared his throat and with a look of worry and a sharp breath, he asked about Bazi and Shadow. Kas eyed her brother for a long moment before shaking her head with a laugh. "You're not being serious, right? Shadow is a twit." She walked beside him, wondering how best to answer this. Scim was clearly worried that his girl liked Shadow, but that couldn't be further from the truth. "When I first met him, Bazi was there too. We went fishing and Shadow just burst into a tirade against Fox leaving the creek. I swear Bazi wanted to smack him for being insubordinate." Kas bumped her nose against Scimitar's shoulder in reassurance. "He's the last guy you need to worry about, trust me." RE: hooked on a feeling - Scimitar - September 12, 2014 His question no sooner hung in the air for a few spare moments before Kaskara, seemingly bewildered by the thought, burst into laughter at him. A frown darkened his features as he watched her, not quite believing her story. Bazi might have been gentler than Fox, but if she had little tolerance of something, she usually spoke her mind. Given that Shadow’s scent clung to her, he could still feel the doubt lingering. “Who do I need to be worried about, then?” It was hard to keep his tone neutral – as if he was just casually asking. He knew his sister could see right through him, and had it been anyone else, he would have been uncomfortable with the vulnerability. But it was Kaskara.. and more importantly, it was Bazi. RE: hooked on a feeling - Kaskara - September 14, 2014 Kaskara was surprised by the intensity behind her brother's eyes as he looked at her. She could see him battling with himself, wondering if he could trust her judgment of Shadow. It was true that she didn't know the guy that well, but she knew that Bazi didn't like him. At least she was certain of that. But his next question was different and caught her off guard, something that made her pause mid-step before continuing. Who did he need to worry about if not Shadow? As far as she knew, there were no other eligible bachelors around Bazi's age in their pack. Galileo was too old for the young alpha, though he was kind and honorable. Kaskara couldn't think of any other men that Bazi could be interested in, and she said so. "Honestly, Scimitar, I don't think you need to worry about anybody but yourself." She let this sink in before explaining. "We haven't talked about it, but I can see how she looks at you. If you don't get a move on, she might think you have eyes for someone else. Then she might go looking for comfort elsewhere, just to get her mind off you." RE: hooked on a feeling - Scimitar - September 25, 2014 He grunted his initial response, his frown darkening like a grey cloud as he scowled at his sister in that moment. She lectured him like a pup -- and somehow, Kaskara managed to make him feel about as big as one in that very moment, despite his towering height. It was hard to keep the sulk from his mood, and his gaze narrowed slightly as his eyes shifted from her and to take in the horizon. "Or, like Fox, she realizes how desirable she will be to all the males of the pack now for breeding rights alone," he spoke, barely holding in a sigh. Had he been human, this would have been the point Scimitar would have raked his hand through his hair in frustration. Instead, the large Beta reclined down sharply, deciding their short walk was over for the moment -- patrolling could wait for a moment. "Shadow is an ass, but he's also the one that's probably by her side at this very moment." RE: hooked on a feeling - Kaskara - September 27, 2014 Scimitar wasn't usually so disheartened about anything, so seeing him fling himself down so abruptly startled her. She watched her brother for a moment, listening to him and hearing the despair in his voice, then decided she'd had enough of his whining. With a swift tap of her paw on his head, she bent down and got in his face. "Scim, you better listen to me and listen well. You are acting pathetic. Bazi does not like Shadow, and I highly doubt Shadow likes Bazi either." Kaskara glared at him, daring him to move against her. This wasn't something she'd normally do, not to her big brother, but the sad look on his face prompted her to do something. "If you're so worried about who she hangs out with, then go to her right now and seal the deal. Tell her of your feelings. Court her officially, so you know that she knows how you feel, and everything is in the open! You can't live your life thinking 'what if' about her anymore." Kaskara sighed and shook her head as she sat back. "This is not how a son of Rapier Frostfur acts." RE: hooked on a feeling - Scimitar - October 02, 2014 He expected something from his sister, but a quick rap of her paw to his head certainly wasn’t quite it. The impact caused him to a blink, and his features went on a roller coaster ride of confusion, and then darkened to a frown. She lectured him then – this time more in depth. He spoke nothing at first – he even managed to refrain from glowering at her. Instead, a sardonic snort escaped him at the mention of being Rapier Frostfur’s son, and he cast her a critical glance over. “No, the son of Rapier Frostfur would not allow himself to get so attached,” he mused quietly, recalling the hardened exterior of his mother. She had been an endearing soul – but she had also never let anyone get too close to her.. spare, perhaps, their uncle Katana. RE: hooked on a feeling - Kaskara - October 06, 2014 At his words, all the fight went out of her. She slumped back onto her haunches and nodded in agreement. "Yes, that's true." Kaskara had been living here for so long that she had almost forgotten what it was like back in Dal Riata. Almost. But what Scimitar said was true: this was not how he should be acting. "Now that you have, you'd better face the facts rather than shy away from them." Kas was sure this wasn't what Scimitar wanted to hear, but it was the truth and what she needed to tell him. "If Bazi doesn't like you, that's one thing. But you'll never know until you open yourself up to her." Whatever the outcome of this conversation, Kaskara was sure Bazi truly did like Scim. RE: hooked on a feeling - Scimitar - November 02, 2014 wrap up? :)
Kaskara was not going to sway her argument, and with a crooked grin, Scimitar gave a small nod, if only to make her drop the subject entirely. In truth, he would certainly intend to take the she-wolf's words to heart, though Bazi would seek him out on the topic before he could. Instead, he gave a nod to the direction they had been walking, motioning that the borders and their duty awaited them still. His pace was brisk, yet relaxed as he moved now in silence by his sister. It felt for too good to have him at his side once more, and patrolling had been only one of their many duties they had accomplished together in their younger years. The day would draw on, and with each step, the Beta would feel more at ease. |
