Here I am [IC joining] - Onyx - August 07, 2014 I'm sorry that I messed up the first time @Ragnar
Onyx left the isle because both alphas and left soon after they were appointed and Onyx beleived the pack was cursed. She wished good luck to Silvermane, Majesty, and Ypres, even though they were all gone. And then she left. Onyx had shown up at Horizon Ridge and found nobody. So she had caught a seagull, promising she would let it live if it told her where the pack had gone to. Seagulls, being dumb, told her where the wolves were. She let it free and hoped it had not tricked her. So she arrived in Stavanger Bay. She realized shs had not thought up to this point. She knew some wolf would come if she sounded in pain, because she was young and hopefully the wolves of Stavanger Bay were helpful. She yelped loudly, hoping it would attract some wolf. Then she sat down and hummed an upbeat tune. RE: Here I am [IC joining] - Ragnar - August 08, 2014 It's ok dear! :D Also don't mind Ragnar he's just a little grumpy. :P

Scarred and unscarred ears slicked back to his skull in mild annoyance. Most wolves sent out a howl. A howl he could have dealt with. It was the yelps that insinuated what Ragnar assumed to be impatience (despite if they meant no such thing) and pain that did not put Jarl in any kind of good mood the closer to her he drew. For some reason loners had this misconception that he cared anything for their lives and that he would become some kind of hero and see to it that they were healed. He did not care about wolves that were not apart of Stavanger Bay and that was simply the harsh reality of it. It did not take Ragnar long to shrug past the tree line, allowing harsh icy caribbean blue eyes to study the young girl. She was about a year old if he had to guess and the Jarl let out a small, nearly inaudible huff. What was it with all these young creatures finding their way there? Stavanger Bay was no safe haven for orphaned children, though the only thing she had going for her at the current point was that if she wasn't already a year old she was close to it. RE: Here I am [IC joining] - Onyx - August 11, 2014 Onyx saw the silver wolf approaching and ceased her humming. He spoke to her, and she had to will herself feircely not to run from him. He looked anything but happy, and the way he adressed her was unwelcoming. "I wish to join your pack Hori- Stavanger Bay." She correctected herself, rembering the seagull mentioning the pack as Stavanger Bay. She looked up at the silver wolf and for a moment was reminded a little of Silvermane, the wolf she never found out what happened to. But she shook the thought away, she could not stay with Wheeling Gull Isle, because here she was talking to Stavanger Bay's alpha. Onyx hoped he would welcome her, but if not she decided there was probably another pack nearby. She recalled Ypres saying they were at war with Silvertippers. Of course she couldn't join them, Onyx thought, because the two packs had been at war. An image flashed into her mind, Ypres lying dead in the salty water. She didn't know how she had died, but she had been horribly gashed by the rocks. Onyx looked up at Ragnar. RE: Here I am [IC joining] - Ragnar - August 12, 2014 He stared at her coolly, put off by her youth and the fact that she distinctly, albeit it was faded, smelled of Wheeling Gull Isle. How many times did he have to tell Ypres to keep her wolves away from his borders before it sunk into her thick skull. At this rate, there would be more children in Stavanger Bay then there was adults, especially so if Julooke ended up being pregnant and when Nerian would become pregnant by him. The solution to that could have been easy, permit no one to breed next year, including himself but that hardly seemed fair to him. Especially because Ragnar wanted sons and he needed no one's permission to breed with his wives. At least, his children would be a year old when March rolled around and Thistle would go into heat once more, if Nerian's heat cycle timed it right, so would his children with his Priestess Wife so having children every year with both wives would not be so bad. Simply, he would no longer allow any more Juveniles into the Bay unless they were close to a year of age. RE: Here I am [IC joining] - Onyx - August 16, 2014 Onyx knew nothing of trades. And living alone so long hadn't helped her learn anything much about herself. She decided to throw some simple things out there at a chance of being accepted. "I don't like to see anyone unhappy, so I would like to help anyone get through problems. Like giving advice and that. I will gladly fight in defense for you, but I cannot be the first to attack so if we are to attack first don't put me on the battle team." Onyx thought for a moment. Living alone had taught her something. "I am an amazing hunter, I think. Rarely miss a catch, and I like killing birds." Onyx said. Then she muttered quietly. Stupid annoying birds. Most every pack must have some sort of youth Onyx assumed. "I can watch over and care for pups, I don't mind sitting around for hours." Stop throwing things out there you have no experience with! This wolf wouldn't like you lying to him, I'm sure. But then again when she lived alone she had had lots of practice sitting around for hours. RE: Here I am [IC joining] - Ragnar - August 16, 2014 Ragnar gave the girl the benefit of the doubt and listened to what she had to say, figuring that there was little harm in having her apprentice in the counselor trade as long as he kept an eye on her, since he was close to earning it for himself. She was a little young to be giving out life advice having what he considered barely any life experience but he could train her in that if she was serious about it. He noted, as she spoke about being a warden that he could also train her how to do that. So far, it sounded like she had a clear idea of what she wanted to contribute to the pack and he was seeing no reason not to take her in under his wing. His own children showed little interest in trades at the current moment, though he would have to push them towards pursuing an apprenticeship considering they were apart of his pack as everyone else and he encouraged trades. His children would not take from the hard work of their pack mates without giving anything back.
RE: Here I am [IC joining] - Onyx - August 16, 2014 Everything seemed to be going okay. She didn't know what a warden or gameskeeper was, but by how he described warden it sounded fine. She was a very good hunter, no doubt, she just didn't hunt as often as regular wolves. Because she did not eat as often as regular wolves. Then Ragnar told her he'd known she was lying. She was ashamed. Her ears drew back against her head, although the rest of her posture stayed regular. She didn't know what a jarl was, but she knew what a father was. Daddy had been her father before she was born. Before the river incident. What if this huge silver wolf hurt her? But the wolf made no movement."I'm sorry sir, I just, I don't know what I'm good at much, I just really wanted to be let in" She stammered nervously, her voice barely audible. She couldn't make herself look puny like this, she realized. It made her look as if she'd put on a shy nervous little girl mask to make the wolf sorry for her. She didn't want the wolf seeing her like that. RE: Here I am [IC joining] - Ragnar - August 17, 2014 He did not know what to tell her, listening when she admitted that she had no idea what she was doing but that she just wanted to be let in the pack. It came as a surprise that any of Wheeling Gull Isle wanted to become apart of Stavanger Bay considering he was fairly sure both Majesty and Ypres had made him out to be some kind of monster because they had both been convinced that they'd done the right thing, that they hadn't done anything wrong by parking their asses on Horizon Ridge's doorstep and that the Viking Jarl was nothing more than a mad man. That was how Ypres had made it sound. Like she hadn't done anything wrong to him and his, like she had all of the rights and he was the one who had didn't deserve to feel angry or territorial. He should have killed them when he had the chance.
He could turn her away, he knew. He could do it without feeling any remorse, too. With winter coming he needed all of the wolves helping out, especially with Julooke and Verrine's, not to mention Nerian's and his own children on the way. He could not afford to have wolves that had no intention of helping out. He didn't need any more wolves to babysit. His own helpless newborns and older children would be enough. RE: Here I am [IC joining] - Onyx - August 17, 2014 The question hit her hard. She had always noticed she was not nearly as smart as the others her age. "I assume it was from the months I lived alone." She answered. Living on Wheeling Gull Isle had basically been living alone too. She had only met three wolves the whole time she was there. "I decided to leave Wheeling Gull Isle when Majesty left and Ypres died." She said, not realizing he did know she was dead. "Yes sir." She nodded when he told her she would start her trade as soon as possible. She paused for a moment. "I still don't know your name..." She mumbled, staring at her paws. RE: Here I am [IC joining] - Ragnar - August 18, 2014 I went ahead and edited your title and things. :3 I'm going to go ahead and fade this here.
If she'd have voiced her doubts aloud he might have dissuaded them, after all he hadn't spoken that she wasn't smart, only that she had no skills and there after lied to him about it. Ragnar had no patience for liars and he intended to nip it in the bud with her here and now and if she continued to do so she would find herself in the merciless hands of the winter, alone. He had not specifically added lying to the list of things the girl was to work on but it was implied and he trusted she was clever enough to pick up upon it. On the subject of Ypres dying Ragnar was silent though it had sparked his curiosity and the desire to go himself and see if it were true. He assumed that death was not something she would lie about but given the recent altercation moments ago he did not trust her entirely at her word. Ragnar kept his face stoic in light of the news not intending to let her know that it had claimed his interest if only because he wanted to prove that his grim prediction — that they would be their own destruction — had been true all along. |
