why men great until they have to be great - Ketzia - February 03, 2020

AW. Tags for reference and some minor PP assumptions. Let me know if not okay!
She watched the metallic flank of her boy leave—his silver eyes flashing her way only once before he disappeared from view on his first scouting mission. Her lips pursed and the tension she felt in her heart fully revealed itself in the stark light of dusk—the ache that something might happen to her children. @Trench and @River came and went, each of them proving to be self-sufficient despite their youthful age, and the mother bear had tried to give them the space needed to find themselves. She expected nothing less than independence from the blood of Stigmata, and a breath escaped her, curling before her in the cold winter air like smoke.

Swinging her muzzle, the sylph studied the wooded land she had come upon. Inspection would be had, but thus far she remained impressed with the potential of laying claim here. Stigmata’s legacy was the mountains, in many aspects—but it also laid with her and her children, and the widow would need to finally move on.

This was a promising beginning to that new chapter.

RE: why men great until they have to be great - Asa - February 04, 2020

The limit of his travels would have to be the riverside. He knew if he went further he'd end up back at the densely-populated Shadewood and that would be useless to him. If Asa was going to complete his self-imposed mission he needed to keep heading east at the very least, however he had been lulled in to a state of complacency of late; living in the hinterlands wasn't difficult at all, so maybe it would be a suitable place to hunker down - at least until winter came to a close. He thought he'd have better luck in the spring anyway. So, he kept moseying until he came upon that river.

Except this time he discovered he was not alone. There was shimmering grey between the trees, something moving quickly away, and he paused to watch it until it vanished. He hoped it was something larger than the squirrels and birds he'd been trying to track down; maybe a deer, or something even bigger. Curious to see what had spooked it (and not thinking it might've been himself) Asa moved in to investigate -- and that's when he saw the pale woman.

He took a deep breath as he looked her over, taking in her scents. She appeared healthy enough. Not alone either - there were layers to her scent, and that intrigued Asa. A smile drifted across his face as his gaze matched with her's, but he nodded his head and looked away, not wanting to impose or intimidate.

Eyes skimming the land before her, she inhaled sharply—revelling, perhaps, in the sudden wave of freedom she felt now that the looming shadows of the mountains were behind her for now. It was then bright emerald eyes fell upon the rogue. Her eyes roved over him gently, considering the small smile flashed her way before his own gaze shifted quickly away—as if she were a delicate butterfly, not meant to startle and flutter away.

Amusement curled about her lips at that moment, and the exotic woman took a confident step forward, her crafted muzzle tipping loftily to the side as she allowed her own posture to emanate her welcome of his presence—should he at least play by the rules of cordial niceties. “I hope I’m not intruding on your land,” she murmured, the smoky dulcet of her tone unused for days now. “I’ve grown rather fond of it here.”
