manifestation - Taima - February 20, 2020 For the first time in weeks she could feel the sun without the bite of winter's chill to soften it. The wind remained cold as it coursed across her body; she was running, always running, and this time it was with the rich azure backdrop of an unblemished sky. It was like flying — or, what she imagined flying must be like. White-noise from the rapid flow of air against her ears; the pressure building in her lungs, the tension of each stride. It was rare to run alone. She did not like the way the others would watch her, and their idling drove her mad. To sit still in one place, to stagnate, that was hell for Taima — and each time she rounded upon the herd's grazing patch she thought, 'Run, you fools! It is what you were made for!' And would take off at a faster clip again, sweeping the fringe of the grassland on yet another patrol for danger. In the months since her run-in with the local herd, and the subsequent charming of the lead stallion, she had little to show for it except a healthy weight gain. Lingering with the women as they grazed was far too boring and Taima had to get away; so she fell in with the yearling colts as they learned the lay of the land and patrolled the grounds, knowing how foolish she looked in doing so — but nobody stopped her. Perhaps they were glad to be rid of her. A gust billows from the north and brings a soft chill to the woman's sweat-slicked limbs. She breathes deeply of it, her nostrils flaring dramatically while a plume of breath rises and dissipates around her. With a light snort she turns and veers in another direction, cutting through the thinning snowscape with a thunderous beating of her hooves. RE: manifestation - Reiko - February 21, 2020 With Ibis looking better and better by the day, Reiko took the time to go and stretch her legs for a bit. Uaine's numbers were dwindling and she worried it would not be much longer until the pack was no more. @Sativa had gone somewhere, meaning all she had left tethering her to the pack was @Ibis and the safety of their borders should something terrible happen. Burdened with worry, it was the drumming of hooves that caught her attention. Frightening at first, she quickly lowered herself closer to the ground, blending with the alabaster snow and quickly took a look around to try and figure out where the sound was coming from. Heart pounding her chest, it was deafening, but the sound of the drumming, the feeling of it in the ground, didn't feel like it was approaching... Peeking up from her hiding spot, there she spotted the majestic beast. Allured by its speed and power, she was drawn from hiding and gazed onto the beast with awe, a twinkle shining in her eyes as she slowly lowered herself to a sit, tail swishing as she watched mindlessly. It was a rare sight, at least for her. Horses, she only heard of them from others - they were much more beautiful when observed with your own two eyes. RE: manifestation - Taima - February 21, 2020 The woman came to a lurching halt as her speed petered out, dropping from her all-out gallop to a canter, a walk, and then stagnation. Her tail whisked the air behind her; she pawed at the snow directly in front with one hoof, exposing some green, and even bent down to sniff at the patch for a moment - perhaps tempted to eat. Breath poured from her in waves, and there was a fine steam rising off of her hide as her sweat met the air. A simple moment. A moment which ended as the breeze shifted, carrying a brief scent of wolf across to her, before shifting again in Reiko's favor. It was enough to cause Taima's head to raise and ears to pivot, alert, bright-eyed, but not afraid. She pawed one last time at the snow before crushing the green underhoof, and with a grunt began to survey her surroundings. She would not linger long in one place. Despite having worked her body over with her run, she was not about to be set upon by predators and so she started to march again. This time she did a tight circle, tucking her chin and hitching her step, only to stop mid-crescent. She could not see the wolf but she knew it was out there. RE: manifestation - Reiko - February 24, 2020 The beast was doing its display. Obviously it was concerned and defensive over the smell of a predator nearby, Reiko was certain the thing had caught her scent rather than that of something else lurking - but she didn't hide any further. She was in wonder over the sight, the thumping on the ground, the beautiful display of absolute power that this creature had. Instead, not wanting to look suspicious and as if she was hunting the horse should she be spotted, she still sat quietly, tail drumming against the ground in soft pats. She wanted to call out and try to befriend the thing, convince it that she was not here to hurt it, but would it even understand her? Would it believe her? Such a small single wolf like her could never take down such a majestic beast anyway. Such heavy feet armed with toes as strong as rock, it was certain death should she even try. But oh how she wanted to approach and look at this thing up close. Please see me, please see that I'm not a threat. She hopped, above all else, more than anything right now. Please trust me. She was naively hopeful that she could earn the trust of this thing in due time. |
