frühlingstauwetter - Mahler - February 27, 2020

informal hunt!

hooves clacked assuredly upon the snowless edge of a cliffside. hard lavender stare appraised the sheep, for its vantage point was clever. but he was a wolf long given over to the mountains. diaspora's claim had been rugged and high; the spire took such a notion and made it tenfold. mahler was careful, but confident in his own abilities.
as the ram stepped back, mahler lunged powerfully from cover, jaws snapping into one hamstring as his own paws fought for purchase on the crag.
his quarry, crazed with the sudden agony and desperate to avoid further, scrambled from the little perch, heading directly down the rock face. mahler's shoulders tensed with the mighty effort of keeping himself from a free-fall, sliding clawed and hesitantly after the ram. a much wider shelf jutted from the wall, safety only some feet below.
he need only hold on, the man told himself, blood pulsing between his jaws to splatter the stone.

RE: frühlingstauwetter - Gracious - March 11, 2020

blood pumped through the fiery hearts of the sagtannet wolves who were here to participate in the hunt. the sheep on this mountain were incredibly large, but not large enough where wolves can't take one down. on mahler's count, they sprang into action. she saw him latch onto the ram. gracious's strength was not in her speed but in her brute power that came with her size. the ram came down the rockface with the rest of his herd, and now any of the wolves down below were ready for reception.

gracious had found herself in a downward run with the ram and mahler on top. she knew the neck was the life giver, but it was too risky. trying to trip the animal would mean mahler could get flipped while trying to stay on. quickly thinking, though deeply conflicted, gracious aimed to gouge into its shoulder with her sharp teeth and throw her weight into the back. she was nothing compared to the sheep, but it may be enough weight to just slow down the downhill sprint.

mahler's breath strangled beneath his teeth; nostrils flared. and then the weight lessened, and lavender stare shifted to behold gracious, using her powerful frame to arrest the flight of their prey.
renewed, the gargoyle grunted, aligning the bulk of the animal between them. suspended on either side, with blood beginning to spurt along the stone wall, mahler counted upon the ram to weaken before its hooves touched the ledge, and strove to ensure this happening.
he readjusted his grip, strained backward with a warning snarl.
