Dreaming— Had he ever dreamt before? Alsek broke from his mother's nipple and fell onto his side, the roundness of his full belly rolling him a short distance away.
And by the time he stopped moving, the tiny child was already asleep. He didn't know colors or sounds, but he knew vibrations, and he knew scents. Alsek's mind was painted as a caliginous maze, each turn leading him closer to his mother's voice and the sweet milk of her teat.
