of days - Ruvik - April 16, 2020

@Daiyu! <3

There were many features upon the island despite its small size, the most impressive of which being the large hill that rose up from its center. Granted, it wasn't the biggest hill he had ever seen, but served as a useful outpost for the island all the same. Ruvik made his way to the top in a rare show of initiative, if only so he could survey the lands for threats.

Though as he reached the top and saw the great blue sky yawning wide overhead, he suddenly felt ever so exposed. He, a conspicuous figure upon the highest peak of this lone island in the sea, in clear view of all those from the mainland. Heart beginning to hammer in a panic, Ruvik quickly made to descend back down the path to safety.

The higher you were in the island, the better the view of the endless blue of the sea, the better you could stare at the shoreline. She did this sometimes, simply climbed to let her thoughts wander. She was trying to come to term with what had happened to her, the things that was done to her. Would she ever get over it, would the nightmares ever end?

As she began the journey ahe found the other canine on this island that seemed to talk like her, well, similarly. Had his individuality been beaten out of him, did he carry scars that were a result of his training? She was so curious but a girl waa never to speak unless spoken to first, this she could not seem to break. Instead she gave him a very gentle smile, a wag of her tail before falling into step with him and abandoning her climb.

Unused to the rocky trails, Ruvik stumbled once or twice, his steps becoming more measured and slow as he descended the slopes. How was he to live here if he was too afraid to even make it to the top of the hill? What if he was asked to survey the shore? Or if meetings were held up here? Panicked thoughts flooded his mind, but before they could become all consuming, a dark figure caught his attention as it fell into step with him.

His ears pricked in recognition as he turned to her, ratty tail waving in greeting. It was Daiyu, the one he had accompanied alongside Huā to the shore. He hadn't gotten much of a chance to speak with the strange girl on that particular excursion, nor had he bumped into her on the island before now. Long-limbed and graceful, draped in dark silken furs, she was the stark opposite to his gangling, awkward form.

Her warm smile was returned lop-lopsidedly, before he stammered out a small, "hello."
