@Grezig lead from the front with alsek and pele trailing happily behind. where were they going? his sister seemed indifferent, but the blackbird was bursting with questions. he'd been reminded early in the journey to the rendevouz site to mind his volume when voicing his curiousity.

eventually, the trio reached their destination. alsek was overwhelmed by the variety of scents and identities unknown in his growing universe. with wonder in his eyes, he wondered aimlessly from grezig's side and began to explore.

When he had left the den that morning, Grezig had informed him of her plans to move the children to rendezvous site; it had made him nervous like it had the year before but he knew it was a necessary part of their development and it gave the rest of the pack a chance to meet the kids.

He patrolled for a short while, successfully catching a rabbit when he was near the end of his route, and it hung from his jaws as arrived on the scene. He trotted over to Grezig and dropped the meal in front of her. He nuzzled Pele and then found a place where he could watch over everyone. He plopped down with a yawn as he kept a watchful eye on Alsek. The boy was curious, and he had no doubt that he could get himself into trouble in a matter of seconds.

unaware of his father's watchful eye, alsek continued with his investigation. where would he start? there were so many new things to see, and hardly enough time to see everything! the fluttering wings of a monarch brushed past his face on cue, and as expected, the blackbird followed behind.

the butterfly flew upward first, then looped through some collection of foliage. alsek tried standing on his hindlegs for a better view but fell backward, and once he was reoriented, the butterfly disappeared. disappointed, he released several low cries.
