You believe in mountains, right? Not everyone does - Arcelia - May 22, 2020 Each day brought with it a little more growth, another development. The child that once was so tiny, so fragile, was less so now—still growing and learning but doing both quickly, a prodigy of life. Ears that once folded downward grew steadier, pricked, and standing tall. A mouth that once sought only a teat was filled with needles now, not that she was entirely aware of this aspect of growth; she still sought out @Erzulie’s underside anytime she was around, eager to lull herself to sleep with a stomach full of warm milk. Life was simple, a breeze to endure, albeit always changing. Arcelia awoke early that morning, dragged from her dreams by unknown forces; a distant sound, perhaps, or maybe a twinge of growing pains. No matter the reasoning behind it, she quickly discovered that she was awake for good now and bounced up to her feet, stretching out her legs—walking was still a new concept, more or less, but she was getting good at it. As long as she moved slowly at first and found her balance, she only sometimes tumbled back down on her rump. These slow steps started her off in the direction of her mother but, once she was feeling confident, the child was veering off towards the entrance; sunlight was peeking through it and she wanted to investigate. RE: You believe in mountains, right? Not everyone does - Erzulie - May 22, 2020 in her moping, erzulie's youngest daughters had grown, flourishing in the moorland air and the protective clutch of rusalka. neither raleska nor her elder children had returned.
on her heart, an indelible emptiness in the shape of each. the harlot lifted her mournful head as her pale child began to trundle toward the entrance-way. it was first reaction to stop the girl, but instead she followed, nudging along the downy little flanks until they had both reached the glowing outside world. erzulie blinked against the sun, stepped out into its light behind arcelia. "quand tu seras grand on ira à la mer," she murmured gently with a wan smile. RE: You believe in mountains, right? Not everyone does - Arcelia - June 18, 2020 Not stopped but encouraged, the girl was soon toddling out into the open. The sun glowed overhead, warming her pelt in a way she was not familiar with. Maman said something, producing sounds she could not place meaning to, and the child glanced up at her; owlish in nature, she gazed at the elder wolf with obvious curiosity. But when staring did not magically grant her mind the ability to decipher those peculiar sounds, she closed her eyes and jutted her muzzle up into the air, nose pointed towards the sun—whatever those sounds meant, they weren’t nearly as enticing as the sun’s rays. Peeking an eye open, she looked to maman again—only, this time, it was not to find meaning to her words but to see if she also enjoyed this strange, newly discovered warmth. RE: You believe in mountains, right? Not everyone does - Erzulie - June 21, 2020 "le soleil," erzulie purred in answer to arcelia's clear questioning. no voice yet, and still the pale child communicated expertly. or perhaps she was more attuned, a mother a second time round. whatever it was, the spice-chai ears swept back and she too basked for a moment in the gentle rays.
then she blinked toward arcelia and began to sweep some ways away, motioning her daughter along as she discovered a flat stone, and placed her paw upon it to show that it too, lay in warmth. RE: You believe in mountains, right? Not everyone does - Arcelia - July 03, 2020 Quiet as a lamb, the child watched at her mother’s ears swept back; they shared peace beneath the sun’s light. Slowly did her tail begin to wag, gently brushing the ground as her glee skyrocketed. What was spoken did not yet fully register within her mind, though she suspected it was linked, somehow, to the warmth. Perhaps when she had a voice, when more could be understood, she might inquire about it. But, for the time being, her mind remained preoccupied with this moment spent with Erzulie. Arcelia watched as the other moved away, curious. Only when she stopped with a paw placed upon a rock did the child toddle over to investigate, ears pricked and tail straight out—what was it? At first, she only sniffed the rock, although nothing seemed particularly special about it. Yet, when she mimicked maman’s actions and stepped onto it, she discovered more warmth; it was a new type, too, spread evenly across the rock. With little more hesitation, she pulled her hind paws onto it and then proceeded to lay down—which easily turned into her sprawling out, tail thumping against it whilst her eyes stared at the elder woman with a mixture of appreciation and adoration. RE: You believe in mountains, right? Not everyone does - Erzulie - July 05, 2020 arcelia was an investigative sort; erzulie watched her careful explorations fondly, mouth curving in an affectionate smile at the wordless glimmer in her snowflower's eyes. "la pierre," she murmured, slipping closer to lie alongside arcelia.
she resembled aningan a great deal, already; it remained to be seen if she would inherit the sea-woman's build or that of her polar father. "maybe you will be a great bear like him," erzulie murmured aloud. a strange thing, to wish the sire of her daughters close this year. and rosalyn too, seemed content with his involvement. it was a warm thing, at the end of it all, a welcome sensation. RE: You believe in mountains, right? Not everyone does - Arcelia - July 18, 2020 last from me ♥ More sounds escaped her mother’s maw, words she could not yet grasp the meaning of. She could not understand the elder woman’s wishes, her contemplation—she knew only that the sound of her voice was gentle, sought after; there was a familiarity in it that she would always hold close to her heart, even in her later years. But now, the lull of her tones and the warmth of the rock below combined was enough to lure the wee babe into a light slumber. Behind closed eyes, there would dance beams of light, dreams of the sun and all it provided them with. RE: You believe in mountains, right? Not everyone does - Erzulie - July 28, 2020 <3
as arcelia lost herself in slumber, erzulie lay her muzzle upon the edge of the sunwarmed surface. shutting her own eyes, the woman sighed contentedy; a moment of true peace amid all that had gone on, and she too was taken off into sleep, something light and drifting as she lay close to her pallid babe.
