they sing the songs of grace with their hands over my face - Valiant - May 27, 2020 His travels had turned up no news of Alejandro's family, but he had finally found someone from his own. It'd been nice to see Brave again, and especially so in this somewhat unfamiliar land. Nicer than it'd been seeing Reif again, even though the boy was, (maybe? he still wasn't sure) just as much family as Brave. Still, he was eager to return to the area, where he hoped his new friend might still be lingering. Avoiding the borders of the new willow pack, he founded himself looking down at a rather enchanting sight — the river below was rife with fireflies. He hadn't chased them since he was only a boy, but seeing them again now, he felt a strong desire to travel into their midst. "Alejandro?" he called again, picking his way along the cliff's edge. It didn't look terribly far to jump, but now that he was on his own, he knew better than to take stupid risks. It didn't take long before he'd found a good place to slide and scrabble to the bottom, where he immediately stepped forward and into the shallow waters. A cricket sang. A firefly winked at him from across the waterway. The night was soft and still. RE: they sing the songs of grace with their hands over my face - Alexandre - June 13, 2020 // I am so sorry I thought I responded The fireflies were flashing and bright against the darkening sky. Alejandro had been so unwisely lingering in the general area, for Valiant - which was an odd decision on his part, something he couldn't rationalize. The boy was just fascinating and entertaining and Ale did like being entertained, which was the only way he could begin to make sense of it. Alejandro padded through the shallow, still water, enjoying the warmer weather and the beautiful scenery. Quiet and tranquil, until his own name rang out across the area. Spotted ears perked and icy eyes traveled across the way, locking onto a familiar form. A coy smile formed on his maw and he approached the boy, tail swishing behind him in a languid fashion. "Fancy seeing you here," he greeted, looking the boy over. RE: they sing the songs of grace with their hands over my face - Valiant - June 25, 2020 Sorry for the wait! Valiant had become distracted between calling for Alejandro and reaching the water; he was gazing off into the dark tangle of woods, entranced by the flickering lights. He knew that when the ocean had flickering lights — blue, usually — it was called phosphorescence, but not what (he imagined) this similar phenomenon was called in the forest. The word effervescence occured to him, but he was not at all sure what that word might mean. The sound of Alejandro's voice had him whirling around, ears thrust forward in alarm. But it took all of an instant to recognize his friend and for that brutish defensiveness to melt away. "You're still here," he said in a voice like a laugh, his tail tip flicking droplets of water as it wagged. "I was worried you'd moved on already," he admitted, closing the distance between them with a few measured steps to try and take in the scents on the other male's pelt. |
