RE: Paradise on the right, hell on the left - Mal - June 24, 2020

There were a few cases where Mal didn't frankly care if something was "reasonable" -- if it wasn't fair, then it shouldn't be reasonable. He'd had enough dumb stuff happen to him that he was done eating bad luck just because that was the way things happened to be. Other people got better luck so he should too.

But he wasn't feeling too chatty any more. He did look back to Simmik and gave her kind of a nod. He appreciated her perspective, but yeah... Not the best conversation from his side of things. But he'd give stuff thought. As it were, he was ok with the patrol continuing in basically silence for the while longer they were going to do so. Someone would probably find it too awkward and walk off at some point.

RE: Paradise on the right, hell on the left - Simmik - July 01, 2020

He didn't say anything more, just offered her a weird nod, which only made her feel worse about everything. She could tell there was nothing more she could say or do, though, and she didn't want to push him anymore.

She let the patrol go on in silence, feeling like she had damaged something between them. It seemed life wouldn't allow her to have any kind of lasting relationship, so it only made sense that she would do something to mess things up between her and Mal. It still stung, though, and after a while, she just kind of wanted to be alone; she didn't want to sulk around Mal or add anything else to his plate.

At some point, she paused and offered a brief goodbye before trotting off over the borders and away from the forest. He probably wanted to be alone too, and she didn't want to do anything else to make things weird between them.
