Seasons change - Njord - June 03, 2020 One last argument sent the young man over the edge, running away from Meares islands and his family in the dead of night. The boy had never followed through on anything in his life... and he had to admit that it felt thrilling. So many emotions knotted inside his gut as he made the long swim (assisted by some crossings due to low tide) from his familial island to the mainland. In the end, uncertainty was muted by the thrill of excitment and he did not look back. By the early morning, Njord had reached the shore. Shaking the saltwater from his pelt, he watched the sun rise from the Eastern horizon and breathed in the air of this new world. This was his beginning. RE: Seasons change - Illidan - June 03, 2020 The lapping of the waves by the tidepools was quieter, or it felt that way to the haggard young figure who was seated on the edge of the sand. Hawkish yellow eyes watched the coming and going of the water against the shore for a considerable time. It moved slowly, but this did not take away from the vastness of it. Every so often, the ghost would turn his sights toward the distant edges of the earth – where the sea seemed to disappear into the sky – and would wonder if there was something beyond what he could see with his own eyes. A figure was spotted in the wash, paddling toward the shore with a bobbing head. Illidan followed the movements with a thoughtful crease to his brow. The haunted expression on the young creature’s face did not shift much when the wolf emerged from the water and shook his coat free of the droplets. The ghost drew his crown upward and regarded the other with a sad expression, saying nothing. RE: Seasons change - Njord - June 03, 2020 Though the long swim fatigued him, Njord felt a new energy electrify every part of his body. He sprung from the shore and jumped between the shallow tidepools like a playful foal and nearly shouted a 'HOOPLA!' as he celebrated this great success. On Meares island Njord was a constant dissapointment... but if you didn't have anybody around, then there wasn't anyone to disappoint! The logic was sound. Feeling quite full of himself, Njord almost passed over the sullen stranger, who regarded him with a pensive expression as he rejoiced. Their eyes met and Njord approached with a hippity-hop to his step, his company's dour mood going right over his head. "H-hey! Ahoy!" he called with an enthusiatic wave of his red tail. If only his grandmother could see him now. Tuwawi would roll in her grave if she knew her grandson was communing with Caiaphas' ilk. RE: Seasons change - Illidan - June 03, 2020 the stranger was joyous, calling out with a pleasant wave of his tail and a few bounding steps in approach. of course, illidan did not seem to mind one way or the other. the ghost regarded the happy fellow with a small nod and a few flips of his own tassel in return. the sharp yellow of his gaze drifted from the wolf to the water and back to the stranger again. he wondered where the unknown had come from. surely there weren’t any land masses out there that he could have ventured across the ocean from. “where have you come from?” the young man’s voice rasped, haggard from the back of his throat in its retreat. illidan canted his head just slightly to the left, hoping that the stranger had heard his question. he wondered if there was an island out there; something near enough to swim to, far enough that it couldn’t be seen from his various perches on the shore. |
