A Swift Bite to Eat - Adair The Forsaken - August 24, 2014 (To no one in particular, anyone can join. :P) Adair had many objectives on his mind, yet first comes first, and that meant food. He had already used up over half of last months cache, so deciding to replenish it, he silently padded through the woods, until he came to Big Salmon Lake. Gazing over the glistening waters, the dark brown and hazel silked hessian admired the view. Speaking to himself, he murmured as the nonchalant breeze of air ruffled his satin fur, a poem to no one but the wind around him, "Nature, with the fruit of thy wombs, you feed all. Though to those through greed, pester you, they fall. With a faint smile edging its way to his maw, Adair lowered himself to the watery depths of the lake, and snagged fish after fish, throwing them expertly over his shoulders, as he had done so many times before. RE: A Swift Bite to Eat - Stormfall - August 24, 2014 Hi. Due to the fact that Stormfall is a bobcat, and pretty tiny compared to all wolves, this probably won't end well for her, but we'll see. I give you permission to catch/fight her, but please no fatal wounds or anything, and don't break any of her legs, etc.
Stormfall came upon the scene as silently as she could, her ears having picked up the sound of splashing water immediately. Being a lot smaller than a wolf meant learning from an early age how to run quickly and quietly, and she would have done so much sooner, had the scent of potential food not drawn her in. Most of the time, the cat was not as reckless as she was being right now. Wolves were very dangerous. A single wolf could kill her with a single bite, or swipe of its claws, but she was a cat. Cats were ever-curious, and this trait often over-rided their safety.
And so, she crept silently closer and closer to the growing pile of fish, hoping the sound of the splashing and the wet sound of fish slapping onto the ground would keep the wolf from knowing that she was near. The smell of fresh meat was tantalizing, and she opened her mouth to let her scent glands take in more of it. She wanted one of those fish, and she would have one if fate permitted. She was now fifteen feet away from the pile, which was far too close to the wolf for her liking. But she wouldn't give up now. Not now. With a determined gleam in her storm-grey eyes, she continued forward... RE: A Swift Bite to Eat - Adair The Forsaken - August 24, 2014 (Oh of course not, friend. Adair isnt an ass. Plus im not really a powerplayer. :3) Finally managing to get the 20th fish in his pile, Adair contemplated getting an extra, for extra measure. Shrugging his shoulders, he declined his own offer. Had he not just told his own self that greedy wolves fall prey to mother Nature's wrath? Turning, he set his eyes upon the shoreline, and before long, the long strides the massive dark brown and hazel tinted wolf took, led him there. He smiled appreciativly at his food pile, looking down at the mountain of fish. He would have to dry them out and... Adair's ears swirled to his left, leading him to turn his hazeled amber eyes on the small feline that slowly crouch walked towards his food. Adair smilled at the tiny little female, and dipped his head as a greeting to her. He did not know of the feline spoke wolf or not, but through body language, he lowered his massive muscular soaked body to the ground, and looked at her, on her own eye level, attempting to show that he was no threat. RE: A Swift Bite to Eat - Stormfall - August 24, 2014 Made the text bigger so that I could read it because for some reason the size it was before was making me feel like I have old-lady eyes even though I have glasses and I'm only 19 lol. >.<
Stormfall immediately flinched and sank down into the long grass when she noticed that the wolf had stopped splashing about in the water. However, she hadn't hidden herself quickly enough because he looked directly at her, made a bobbing motion with his head, and then laid down, stretching his mouth into a smile, though she didn't know what a smile was. At least he wasn't showing teeth, which would have immediately sent her running off like a bat outta hell. She splayed her ears ears back on her head, eyes widening, pupils dilated as adrenaline rushed through her. But, damn it, she wanted a fish, and he seemed too stupid to try and defend his mother-load of all fish piles.
So, she decided to go for it. She stood up and puffed out her grey fur into a big fluffy ball around her body to try and make herself look bigger, and then pranced forward in hopping-steps the way cats will do when trying to frighten off others. As she made her way towards the pile, she made a point of hissing loudly, trying in the only way she knew how to keep the massive wolf away from her. She eventually got one paw onto one fish at the edge of the pile, released her retractable claws and sank them into the juicy meal, and pulled it out... RE: A Swift Bite to Eat - Adair The Forsaken - August 24, 2014 ( Hahaha, thats so bad. I wear contacts, so its chill for me. No prob.:P) Adair saw the wide fear in his eyes and he chuckled softly to himself. She was so adorable, this little cat. He tilted his head at her as she kept her mainly dilated eyes on him, yet her nares flared towards his fish. With a voice as smooth as warm milk itself, he said softly to her, "Ah, so I forsaw getting an extra fish, then saying no, at the cost of this cat trying to take one. As a consequence for not listening to my own self,..." Adair stood slowly and silently, towering over the feline, but made no vicious move towards her. Instead, he nudged the largest fish that she had puffed herself up for, and tried to take, off the top of the pile, and used his large, felty wet nose to push it towards the female silver coated cat. Adair then sat on his haunches, and swished his massive silk tail around him, watching her with a calm and reassuring amber gaze. RE: A Swift Bite to Eat - Stormfall - August 24, 2014 Stormfall jumped ten feet into the air and six feet back when the wolf stood up and began making growly, bark-y noises at her. Being a feline and trying to understand a canine was like being Russian and trying to understand English with no training. All he said to her was gibberish, and she made no effort to try and understand him at all. She turned and sprinted away, expecting the wolf to be on top of her at any second... Except, that never happened.
She stopped running after only a few seconds, when she felt no claws or fangs on her body, and did not hear the sound of his paws hitting the earth in an attempt to catch her. She spun around then, trying to figure out what was happening. Her eyes were still big and her fur still stood on end, heart ramming against her chest in fear. But he was just... standing there, looking at her expectantly. She did not understand his words, but all animals understood body language, and his posture was calm. Slowly, belly to the ground, as if stalking the brute, she crept forward again, keeping one eye on him and one eye on the fish he had nudged toward her (though she had not noticed because her back had been turned when he'd done it, as she'd been fleeing at the time). Eventually, she made it back to where she had been before, and was now only feet from the giant wolf, who stared at her. Despite his pleasant demeanor, having him stare at her made her feel quite unnerved. She made a snatch at the fish, caught it with her claws, stuffed it into her mouth, and then fled, until she was about twenty feet away and hidden once again in the long grass. Here, she began tearing off chunks of the meat and swallowing them whole, as this was how bobcats ate their prey... RE: A Swift Bite to Eat - Adair The Forsaken - August 24, 2014 Watching her hop as far away from him as possible confirmed his beliefs. She had not understood his words, but his actions. Again he desired to laugh at the boldness of this fearful creature, but made no attempt to, worried that his laugh would possibly give her a heart attack, if simple soft words had made her flee in terror. He observed as she came back, and he held his posture smoothly as she snatched a fish, and retreated to safety a few feet from his position. He decided to eat with her. So without any sort of second thought, Adair decided to be a bit less frightening by not gulping his fish whole, but trying to share a similarity with her, by tearing pieces of the carcass off. He nearly laughed again at his attempt, but in the end, he managed to daintily eat the fish, as she was. RE: A Swift Bite to Eat - Stormfall - August 24, 2014 I don't know about you, but I am having so much fun with this thread. *pats self on back for making new character who is fun to play because cats are hilarious* *also pats Adair on the back for being good thread partner and totally thinks we should have more threads* IDK why but in my head, now all I can see is Adair walking around with Storm on his back sleeping (even though she's totally too big for that lol) >.< ... Long OOC post is long.
Stormfall finished daintily devouring her fish in a minute or two, making sure that there was no extra meat hanging off the delicate bone structure of the carcass before pushing it aside with a paw and checking on her ever-present wolf threat. He too, she noticed, was eating a fish, and he looked to be having a hard time with it. Instead of just tearing into it, as wolves usually did, he seemed to be trying to copy her eating style. This was when she realized that he probably didn't mean her any harm. Still, he was a wolf, and she a bobcat. These two animals did not often -- if ever -- coincide. She'd have to be careful no matter how he acted.
She decided to wait until he had finished his small meal before approaching. She knew how wolves were. You didn't want to get in their way while they were eating, because they often stopped being able to differentiate friend from foe -- not that she was a friend -- and would attack anyone or anything that got too close to their food. She kept her steps light and slow, graceful as, well, a cat, though she also kept a bit of tension in her muscles, just in case she needed to sprint away, should the brute decide to suddenly attack her. She wasn't entirely sure why she was approaching him, only that he seemed to want to be friends. And maybe, for once, that wasn't impossible... She let out a "Mrrowr," in greeting, even though she knew he wouldn't understand. RE: A Swift Bite to Eat - Adair The Forsaken - August 24, 2014 ( I cant even...this is too cute. And thanks alot, because now that image is going to be a goal of mine for our future threads. And she is definitely not too big. Do you know how huge Adair is? xD ) Adair finished the rest of his meal, considering eating another fish, but he wasnt very hungry, after all, he had eaten half a deer before his little fishing episode. He looked over to see her creeping her way to him, and he thumped his massive tail as approval. He heard her call out her animal greeting to him, and from judging the posture she held, he judged she was still wary, but willing to be closer to him. He slowly reached his nose in her direction, showing his intrest, with amber hazel eyes, alight with friendliness. RE: A Swift Bite to Eat - Stormfall - August 24, 2014 What's really funny is that, based on the description of Adair in the profile page, he looks almost exactly like one of my own characters, @Majesty (click to see profile page) which is uber weird for me but also awesome. Also, I just realized how kind of tiny she is (a bit bigger than a Maine Coon) so she totally could ride around on his back like that aha... Also, I'm kind of powerplaying cos I'm talking about what he looks/smells like to her. Tell me if you don't like it.
Storm flinched when the big brute reached his muzzle out to her, thinking he'd snap at her at any second, but that didn't happen, so she continued creeping closer to the brown male. After many long seconds of carefully moving towards him, one small and silent step at a time, they were finally face-to-face. And it looked like some kind of scene from a Disney movie. She cautiously touched her small pink nose to his big black one, and sniffed.
Behind her, her tail stood up and out like a bottle brush, and every hair along her spine stood at attention. This was a very nerve-wracking thing for her to be doing, and she still kept the tension in her muscles, wondering whether she had just made a huge mistake. The brute smelled of... many things. Mostly, though, he smelled clean. His coat shone as the sun beat down on it, and she could see that he was well-groomed. And he smelled fresh, almost like pine, or a cool misty forest in the morning. It was a pleasant scent, and she felt calm from it, as she continued to sniff him... RE: A Swift Bite to Eat - Adair The Forsaken - August 24, 2014 ( hahaha its so perfect, I adore it. ) The wolf watched the bobcat femme inch her way to him, until she lightly touched his nares with his own, with the touch of a feather. He understood her amount of anxiety and paranoia, because she looked as stiff as an oak tree...except she was obviously not an oak tree. He refused to move when she was this close to him. Adair knew from many encounters of other feline related animals, how swift they were to any sudden movement. The only thing he did was sniff her, and remember her scent, storing in his memory for later periods of time. she smelled of mountain rocks and leaves. He knew all cats maintained a healthy diet along with clean grooming habits, so when she smelled of freshly bloomed flowers and freshly churned earth, he smiled. RE: A Swift Bite to Eat - Stormfall - August 24, 2014 Sorry it's so short...
Stormfall pulled her head back after some time, having had her fill of smelling her new friend. This was quite a surprise for her. She'd never had a wolf as a friend before. And she still wasn't one-hundred percent certain on the whole "friends" thing, anyways. Some part of her still remained quite cautious, and ready to sprint at any second. She sat on her haunches and looked at the male, tilting her head in curiosity, wondering what had made him so inclined to be nice to her. But, of course, since they were different species, and he wouldn't understand her, all she could say in the matter was, "Mew?"
RE: A Swift Bite to Eat - Adair The Forsaken - August 25, 2014 ( Its fine, I'm passed out anyway. ) Adairs heart almost burst with joy, seeing the feline relax a tiny bit. He was a simple creature, and it was almost easy to please him. Seeing her sit back and attempt to communicate with him, Adair looked down at her, and watched her, thoughtfully. He attempted to talk to her, as well. With a soft voice, he murmured " I am glad we are friend, little feline. " RE: A Swift Bite to Eat - Stormfall - August 25, 2014 Last post from me. ^_^ PM me if you want another thread.
Stormfall didn't understand the wolf's words, but she now knew for certain that he was a friend. She began to purr happily, and leaned forward in an attempt to lick her friend's nose, small pink tongue flashing out of her mouth, and disappearing again in but a moment. Afterwards she gave another, "Mrrowr," and then sidled up to him and lay down against his side, intending to nap.
If this wolf really wanted to be her friend, she'd let him do what he wanted. But she was still a cat, and being a cat meant taking naps all the time. With a wide yawn that showed off her fangs, she gave a quiet, "Mew," and then lay down, snuggling close to the brute and falling asleep in seconds, all the while purring away... RE: A Swift Bite to Eat - Adair The Forsaken - August 25, 2014 ( Gotcha, thanks. And I gotta remember you are Majesty. Maybe well meet up again, and I can help find Erika. :3) Adair watched silently as the cat relaxed fully, and he congratulated himself. He had actually gotton a feline to be comfortable in his presence. Within a split second, he felt her lick his dark nares with her bright pink rough tongue, and he smiled, bowing his head lightly at the kind gesture. He saw her silver orbs drooping and knew she was tired, yet her next move surprised him. She padded over to his massive side, curled up, and began to doze off, all the while purring with a force that could be deemed as adorable. He huffed lightly with satisfaction at her temperment, and layed his own silked crown upon his front paws, thick tail wrapping around her protectively, and he too, fell into a comforting nap, with a companion who he had never dreamed he would be a friend of his own. And with this, Adair dreamed dreams of happiness, with a furry feline at his side, purring contentedly until he felt them fall away, as she fell into her own slumber of peace. The end. |
