i need fresh blood. - Ikkalrok - June 05, 2020

open! doing wotd june challenge.

Ikkalrok kept to the borders, as was her norm when not with Revui. He had returned, and that was that. Ikkalrok was not entirely aware that her body was beginning to change, but she understood that something was occurring. She heeded her instincts on the matter, but they did not keep her away from her duty. And at present, her duty lent itself to carnage; anyone with ears would hear the savage snarls from her, and the shrieking yowl of a fox she had found.

What any might witness was no cute rendition of the fox and the hound; for this hound wanted nothing but the thing she dealt with dead and devoured. The moment she had tasted its blood, she craved it more; her tail flagged over her back in her authority here before this trespassing thing, and in a matter of drawn out minutes the thing was dead.

Ikkalrok settled then, blood and gore the mask she unwittingly wore as she tore into her evening meal. It was nighttime, the hour in which she was most active (especially within the Summer, the heat intolerable to the Northern woman), and now that the sounds of violence had quieted to nothing, the cricketsong surrounding the Valley seemed to crescendo.

RE: i need fresh blood. - Skoll Almir - June 05, 2020

Skoll didn't care for pointless things, he didn't find himself trying to visit the new pups of the pack, didn't ask Merrick about it, and most of all didn't ask any of the other wolves what they thought of the outburst the man had before they were born. Each of those were pointless things to ask and question about, so he found himself not seeking out answers.

The scent of blood caught his nose, and he moved to slink in the direction of where it was coming from. Maybe someone in the pack had got a catch, or something else was afoot.

thanks for joining!

Ikkalrok could hear the approach of another, and when she turned there in her line of sight was a familiar face. She had not forgotten him, but bore no ill will toward him for intervening that day some time back. Merrick had killed the dog, and Ikkalrok was also not one to hold a grudge over something so fickle. If Skoll had trusted the mongrel, that was his choice; Ikkalrok never would have... but, that did not matter now. The thing was dead.

Having eaten a great deal of the thing by the time Skoll had arrived, the massive she wolf swiped it toward him with a hefty paw should he himself desire any. While there wasn't much left to it, there was enough to quell any pangs of hunger he might feel.

He recognized the woman when his eyes scanned over her finally. The one that tried to kill that strange canine from before. Skoll had not known Merrick finished the job, but he had known that there was less of the strange thing around inside the pack's borders. Either way, he didn't entirely care anyway. Helping did not mean trusting, nor did it mean caring about it. The thing was a pack member at the time and that only meant making sure none of the other wolves in the pack stepped out of line.

"You're that woman from before." He stated plainly. It was clear he held no ill will towards her, if anything he was more curious the reasons of her actions in the first place.

He did notice the paw that beckoned him, however he didn't bat an eye at it. The man wasn't that hungry in those moments, and could pick any time to eat if he so pleased.

Ofc! Im always lookin' to toss Skoll into threads, and she was an interesting one i've wanted to toss him at again anyway!

Mute, still, she blinked in rejoinder. He recognized her, she recognized him. He did not seem hungry, and for that, Ikkalrok devoured the rest. She had been satisfied, but now she was comfortably full. But Ikkalrok would always look out for those that were pack. That done, she licked her jowls to be rid of the gore that lingered on her muzzle.

She ought to continue the patrol. The bear of a woman rose to all fours for a beat only to roll in the murder scene so that her scent would permeate it; once she was done, she appeared quite satisfied and prepared to be on her way with a shake of her furs. Some blood lingered on the edges of her silver cowl, though she was not bothered by it and would likely address that some other time. Moving to resume her work, Ikkalrok looked to Skoll briefly; he could join her, if he wished; she glanced toward her side in quiet invitation before her stride lengthened.

The woman seemed to see that he wasn't hungry, in truth, Skoll was but the shadow of a wolf. Unhealthy in every way possible, almost that of a skeleton. The lack of hunger pangs was normal, though, and so was being so skinny and underweight. When one travels and doesn't stop to eat all the time, eventually the body would become used to the feeling of weakness in the bones. Skoll's body was like that.

His eyes wandered when the woman moved to eat the rest of whatever she'd caught, and he wondered if she had any weaknesses one could exploit in battle. If she would miss one step to be knocked over, or not. Large, the body of a fighter. Clearly someone worth watching.

Most of the wolves in the pack were.

When she moved to begin leaving, his eyes traveled back up to meet hers when she silently offered to let him patrol with her. Okay, he could do that.

"We've not properly met yet." He noted, following. Yes, they'd run into one another before, but never an introduction.

RE: i need fresh blood. - Ikkalrok - June 16, 2020

It was true Ikkalrok had the body of a fighter, and also, the mind. It was the singular thing she was good at; her primary function, one might say. Born and bred for the act of war, for taking and never yielding to the enemy, it was no wonder that while she ate she could all but feel the intensity of his curious gaze while she ate.

She had assessed him the day they had met. Ikkalrok need not do that again; he had not accepted her meal. Perhaps he had no intention of changing. Gaunt and narrow, Ikkalrok felt that one need not be a bear to break the bones of this one, should they strike him and it land true. Malnutrition was an easy thing to detect, even for those not wise in the ways of battle. Whatever the purpose of it, Ikkalrok did not truly care. It was not her business to. He was neither Anneriwok nor Tartok. Some wolves, from what she had seen, walked the earth a spell up until they met death... purposeless otherwise.

He was pack, though, so she would make some effort to see him fed. What he did was up to him; deny it, and she would happily eat the rest... as she had.

Ikkalrok pawed at a tree, blunted claws dragging against the bark as her scent glands transferred her scent to it. And then the skinny wolf spoke again. Ikkalrok looked to him, and if she understood him there was no recognition present there.

It was clear the woman fed herself like one should - muscle showing in her form compared to Skoll's skeleton of a body. However Skoll had simply forgotten that his body would tell him that it was hungry. Or maybe he was so used to being so thin that his body just stopped telling him. Either way, it didn't make him weak. Just weak physically. Skoll himself was strong in his own mental state, finding thinking about things easier than actually interacting with them.

The two made eye contact for the shortest of moments before Skoll continued on, to mark a tree not far from the last. Perhaps she would rather have a silent walk. He could work with that.
