Where to Start - Cordelia - June 28, 2020

AW! Also open to the pup who are old enough

Prior to now she had had her head low and was known by few within the pack. Awenfen had been her closest acquaintance but since her removal from the pack, Cordelia had little contact with anyone. The last pack meeting was rather eventful. It had effected Cordelia in ways she hadn't foreseen. Over the last week or so, she collected herself mentally, equally matching her now healed physical state. But she knew that now there would be no excuses for her lack of participation. This pack was the best place she had been in since entering Teekon and she couldn't ruin her chance at this.

Having been accepting into the pack due to the poor physical state she knew little of what she could do to contribute. She had to meet Ibis and Hime then but wasn't sure who to look for since Hime wasn't the empress and Ibis (as far as she had overheard) was pregnant or had recently given birth. Reiko was the true empress but last she saw her fainted and was unconscious. Cordelia assumed she was better now but didn't know if she was open to the company.

With so many unknowns she was open to anything and anyone that she might stumble upon.

reticent, shy, skittish — teya flirted around the edges of the packland, hunting mice that dared to enter in search of filled caches. the empire was a formidable place, and this knowledge terrified the half-baked rustwolf.
it was less frightening, however, than roaming outside the vale, and so teya settled herself into the niche of there-and-away, and did not look up from her spiderleg roving through the thick leaves.
one and then another and then three and then — grey grey grey dove and soft scent.
the girl's plume stirred, dropped, ears splaying as she stared at the woman in a quiet fret.

Not going to lie. I'm a bit confused as to where toons are ;D

She had been casually walking, not yet knowing the layout of the Vale. Luckily it was surrounded by mountains, and exiting it without knowing seemed impossible. The scent of the pack's borders grew stronger and the thought that she should turn around entered Cordelia's mind. Her wellbeing was safer than it ever was in the Vale but staying within its center region would be safest. But once she turned her shoulder the sound of rustling came to her ear and she stopped in her tracks, front paw still elevated. Whatever and whoever made the noise was out of her view and so she asked "Is someone here?"

RE: Where to Start - Teya - June 30, 2020

no worries! i had her at the edge RE but wrote the end of my first reply like she had come further inside :D

snapped to immediate attention by the voice of her packmate, teya began to shudder as if she were caught in some hidden gale. the next moment she had slipped into visibility, tailtip wiggling between her clenched thighs. "reiko?" came her wondering voice, skittering spilled-marble across the distance between them.
this was not reiko, but teya of few coherent thoughts only knew the single name, and therefore reiko had slipped with a notch into her lexicon as word that meant friend.
widewater eyes warily watched the other; teya was desperate for any sign that she would not be immediately clipped from existence by a larger set of teeth than her own.

Cordelia's eyes meet those of a tan and brown female, with eyes blue as a fresh berry. Her tail wagged but the reserve was evident within the girl as she questioned Cordelia's identity for that of the empress. Now seeing that what lingered in the shadows was simply a small female, Cordelia's worry subsided. It was probably likely that if this female decided to attack Cordelia she would be soon dispatched, but this female had no resemblance to those who previously harmed Cordelia and so her instinct was that of trust.

"You are mistaken," Cordelia said with a gentle smile "though similarities in our pelts may be causing such confusion. My name is Corra. How do you do?" she said introducing herself and lightly nodding her head and lifting her forepaw to curtsy.

RE: Where to Start - Teya - July 05, 2020

mistaken. wrong. teya shifted, wilted. but there was a name given. corra. like her own, it bore two syllables and an open-ended sense that buoyed her spirits somewhat. "teya ishtar," she answered, promptly, obediently. her hauntwater eyes traveled as far as she dared to those of the other, and then darted away again, gaze clambering the length of a pine as if it were a bird.
"you are home?" words, unable to fold around the broader expanse of her meaning. "home is ... corra?" can you be trusted? will you trust me? teya's synapses, lashing inarticulate in the face of this patient kindness.

RE: Where to Start - Cordelia - July 06, 2020

Her question wasn't properly answered. Though nothing of what this female spoke seemed entirely proper. Cordelia knew that he way or speech was something eccentric for some, but this was different. This female's speech was broken but, as though they were in particle thoughts. It reminded her of the way a young child may speak, confined to a setlist of vocabulary.

Teya Ishtar. They didn't sound to be English words. Perhaps they weren't words, but a name. "Your name. It's Teya? Teya Ishtar," Cordelia questioned. You are home? Home is Corra? Teya asked. Cordelia tried her best to answer the question she perceived. "Yes this is my home," she answered. Thinking the girl was asking if she was a member of the pack. "And you? Is this your home? Is Teya... home?" she asked, trying to phrase it in a way the female might understand it.

RE: Where to Start - Teya - July 12, 2020

spottedface. spottedface. corra. teya squinted at the stranger-not, feebly attempting to tie together the strings of name and face. but the task was surrendered as the other spoke. wide blue eyes drank in the movement of the woman's lips, the thrum in her throat.
yes
the wolven anomaly relaxed.
"teya. yes. home. yes." this with her first smile since arriving in reiko's land. teya blinked brightly, tailtip stirring. they were to be companions then. a series of steps closer, another brush of the gentle lashes that framed her wary gaze. "you ... hunt?"

RE: Where to Start - Cordelia - August 02, 2020

Teya seemed pleased with Cordelia's answer as a smile came upon her face and her tail began to wag. It was good to know that Teya was not lost and belonged within the vail, assuming she was telling the truth, or what she thought to be the truth.

A question was proposed as to Cordelia's ability to hunt. "Yes" was her initial response. "Well... small game usually. Birds or rodent types. I struggle with larger prey" she said with a smile as anyone understanding her properly would know a female of her size would likely lack the weight to easily bring down a creature her size or larger.

RE: Where to Start - Teya - August 05, 2020

corra, corra — she spoke and teya listened. but she did not understand save for a word here and there. it was no matter of mistranslation; she had known the common tongue since the beginning. and yet the shape of words had evaded teya all her life, their meaning; she could not fit two-and-two, and so was oft trapped inside her own senses, and frustrated besides.
mute for the moment, the girl cocked her head, then set about for a scent, picking up the light trail left by pheasant feathers. bird. now, wasn't that what corra had said? another wave of her shy plume, inviting the pretty empire wolfess closer to observe what she had found.

RE: Where to Start - Cordelia - August 09, 2020

After her explanation, Cordelia saw the tilt in Teya's head and reminded herself that she needed to be simple going forward. She would need to express herself in a more physical sense. It reminded her of a few members of Shadewood, but not quite as scary. Just as she was about to paraphrase, Teya's muzzle went to the ground. When her head rose again and her eyes meet with Cordelia's as she gestured to the ground.

With that, it seemed as though enough of her previous comment was properly interpreted because when Cordelia lowed her head to take a whiff she was about to identify the scent of pheasant. Customarily to the bird, it was not alone but a ground of between 3-5 from the smell of things. Cordelia hovered around the area for a bit pinpointing and distinguished between the scents of coming and going to ensure she wouldn't follow the path backward.

Then she had it and looked ahead. In the distance was an area of taller grass, a favored habitat of the skittish bird. With a smile and gesture of the head, Cordelia invited Teya to follow her.

RE: Where to Start - Teya - August 15, 2020

the woman paced forward and took the scents, with a confidence teya could only admire. instinctually instructed, coupled with a growing intrigue in how corra might find the bird, she followed at once.
trailing just at the huntress' flank, widewater eyes flicking in surreptitious glances to gather each motion and put it aside for analysis, teya at last pulled her gaze to the tall grass. she dared not speak, only continued in quiet, attuned as they prowled to corra, by way of burgeoning interest.
