Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Kynareth Deagon - July 02, 2020 Setting: Morning — 1000. 74 degrees, sunny, clear skies. Near the northern part of Ravensblood Forest.
Roll for hunt was unsuccessful. Via this roll thread. Donovan is excited to present the wolf Donovan has stumbled on a few days prior to Nemisis. A hunt is a good way to see where his skill level is at and it an even better way to test team compatibility. He’s given Derg a couple days to gather his strength and he deems him ready enough to rest his strength at a hunt. Now they’re not looking to hunt a mere hare, no, Donovan wants a deer. The bigger the better, a good test for all three of them children but they’ll see what they come upon. So tilting his head back, he rumbles out a low impressive howl, calling for @Derg and @Nemisis. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Nemisis - July 04, 2020 She was growing restless. Her shoulder itched, and the various bites and bruises from the battle on the beach- she would never admit how stupid she had been to get into such a mess- finally were healed. She was hungry. It had been ages since her last guard had sacrificed himself. She wanted blood. So it was a sigh of relief when she heard Donovan's sharp call. A hunt. Good. She wasn't nearly as deadly a hunter as she was a fighter, but she could hold her own. She made her appearance, slipping into view like a phantom, eyes on her king. "You summoned?" A bite of sarcasm in her voice, the only one who dared toe so close to the line of disrespect. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Derg - July 04, 2020 The man loped to the pair whos forms he could make out through the trees.
A hunting call. Derg hadn't hunted anything large for a long, long time. His tail waved softly and he dipped his head on his approach, ever the subordinate. He tentatively gave his regards to Donovan and the woman he'd heard of as being Nemesis. He couldn't help but thinking they looked...well together. Did that make the man sad? He drew himself up a bit, looking for a trace of the prey they sought. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Kynareth Deagon - July 04, 2020 Donovan is pleased when the two of them come at a rather timely manner. First it was Nemisis, though he did expect her to take her sweet time to respond to his beckon, he’s pleasantly surprised and greets her with a smirk and an, “I did.” In response to her question. Then the newest of them arrives. Sweet Derg. Donovan plans to help him strive in any way he’s able to. One way being through copious amounts of training and whatnot. For now it’s a test of strength. A test of strength for all of them as a pack. Donovan has caught the tracks of a deer parading through the woods. He hopes to take it down. So, eager to begin, he nods to Derg in greetings. “Morning, Derg. This is Nemisis. Nemisis, Derg. He’s the newest pack member. Be nice to him.” The last bit leaves his mouth in a chuckle, but he eyes Nemisis nonetheless. “I smelt a deer wandering through, let’s find it.” Is all he says as an introduction to the hunt. Before he has his leather nose hitting the ground and walking forward following the scent. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Nemisis - July 05, 2020 The new boy see arrives, quiet and shy, and Nemisis wonders what kind of potential Donovan saw in him. One thing was certain though...he was very useful- to her at least. Her expression softened as her eyes flitted over the boy's frame. A pureblood. She saunters over to him, a laugh creeping out at Donovan's prod. "Derg... interesting name choice. Oh don't worry. I'll be very nice to him." She winks, a smirk on her lips as she watched Donovan out of the corner of her eye. A deer. Good find. She sways her hips as she walks slightly ahead of Derg, tail lifted just enough to to give him the full show, sight and scent. She knew she was laying it on a bit thick, shaking her mane out to waft her perfume downwind...but it would be worth it to see Donovan get his just desserts. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Kynareth Deagon - July 05, 2020 As Nemisis eyes down the male, a smile on her maw Donovan knows she’s up to something. In reply he tilts his head and gives smile that says Really? and cocks a brow at her. “Oh I’m sure you will be, dear.” He hums slyly back to her. Then as they begins trotting in the direction Donovan catches the glimpse of the she-wolf’s suggestive antics. Poor Derg, already in the mad woman’s sights. Donovan can only protect him so much from the sultry female. Yet Donovan internally shrugs and chuckles. “Behave yourself, Nemisis.” The words are chiding yet the tone is not. It borders on a suggestiveness of his own, low and teasing. “Let’s get on with this hunt then.” He calls to them. He already has the scent of the deer, all that’s left to do is follow it. So with a quick mumble of, “This way.” he’s off in a direction, leathery nose stuck to the ground. They’ll come across it soon, the scent isn’t too faded. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Derg - July 05, 2020 The woman came close to him, sneering at him.
Did she not think on how he got half of his face ripped off? Obviously not if she was so bold to say such things before him. He stared intently at her, head low and tail barely tucked, but he stared hard at her all the same. At last, she gave up and gave in to Donovan's hunt and they were off, her flaunting her ass in his face. Maybe if he docked her tail she'd think twice, though Donovan seemed happy enough with the show. He wondered how the pair could even hunt together if all they could think about was boning, and her scent clogging up the brindle man's nose? No way. He quickly dumped his nose on the soil, rather inhaling dirt than a woman's scent. He started to search for the deer too. It can't bee too long gone for the man to call a hunt. But deer can move fast. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Nemisis - July 06, 2020 He chided her and she can't help but let out a laugh, oblivious to the discomfort of the other male. "Oh but darling, it's so much more fun being naughty. Wouldn't you agree dear?" She called over her shoulder teasingly to the male behind her. Her mind turned back to the hunt, and she focused forward, desperately hungry for more than just rabbits, squirrel, and rats. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Kynareth Deagon - July 06, 2020 Letting loose a final bark of laughter at her tease to the poor boy, who definitely didn’t ask for anything of this treatment, Donovan shakes his head at Nemisis jesting remark with a smile. “It’s okay, Derg, just ignore her.” He hums. Then as they continue onward with their noses working hard to find the hooved mammal, Donovan stops dead in his tracks. Golden eyes that previously drifted along the horizon stop magnificent antlers — it’s a buck they’ve smelt; a healthy one at that. Now Donovan might be a bit wary of taking this on with three wolves but why not at least try. Nodding his chin in the direction of the buck, he whispers a quick plan. “We could all take him from different directions. I’ll go left, Nem goes right, Derg you come up the middle. Sound good?” If confirmation of the plan is a go, then Donovan will begin moving into place on the left of the deer. Keeping his body low ready for the chase to begin. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Derg - July 06, 2020 Donovan's assurance didn't do much. He was already ignoring her.
But at least they'd got to the task at hand. His tail swayed softly, thinking about how he would plan this out, and what Donovan might plan. But when they glimpsed the buck, Derg's stomach sank. Bucks were wild, ferocious, and could gut them all. Even with a whole pack it was a risk, but three? His ears slicked back, listening to Donovan's instruction. They started moving towards it, Derg waiting for his cue to launch the attack. He would have to try and take out a foreleg, Nem would probably go for a rear leg, and Donovan would go for the neck. At least, that's what Derg had in his mind. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Nemisis - July 07, 2020 Whatever Derg had in mind was absolutely not what she did. Unfortunately, hunger stirred Nem's actions, and she bolted ahead, moving to line herself up with the buck to get a shot at opening the belly. It was a quick and easy bite, and would slow the deer down immensely, if it landed. If being the subjective word. Instead she was forced to turn with the fleeing beast and dodge a kick, her teeth closing harmlessly on the skin of the haunch. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Kynareth Deagon - July 07, 2020 Nemisis is ultimately the first one to initiate the first move for the pack, spurring everyone else into action. His heart rate picks up and his eyes narrow in on his target. While out of the corner of his eye he watches Nemisis hardly miss getting kicked by the bucks powerful legs. She’s only able to catch a vote on the animals haunch. Speeding up, he goes for the neck, a dangerous first bite. Weaving away from the deer as it swings its antlers down in his direction. Right as the coast is clear, he stretches up far enough to sink teeth into its shoulder. Tearing flesh his teeth sink into its shoulder. It does little to stop its swift gait and only gains him a sloppy kick to his own shoulder. Sounding out a growl when it lands he lags behind when pain laces through the offended area. This buck is feisty. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Derg - July 09, 2020 So, Derg was totally wrong.
Unsurprising, but it wasn't much bother for him. Nemisis was the one who went out first, spooking the buck. She nearly got booted, but her speed saved her. She was lucky. Derg moved in shortly behind, still going for his targeted leg. He was just about to snap it up - a big risk for a big gain - but it kicked out at Donovan, causing his snap to miss. Blood rained down onto him from the shoulder above. The man pulled away, hopefully out of attack range, letting himself breathe for a moment to the go back in, aiming for the buck's neck this time. Derg lept up, only to be batted away by antlers, which he luckily bounced off fairly ok, a few scratches and a bruise from where he landed. He stopped, panting heavily from being winded. He'd expect the pair to keep going, and he'd catch up in a moment if they decided to continue. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Nemisis - July 12, 2020 After narrowly being kicked she kicks her speed as fast as she can go, snapping at the buck in quick succession. The animal bucked, and sharp hooves collided with her chest. There was a sharp crack and she gasped as fire spread through her lungs, staggering to a halt to viciously fight off the pain of a broken rib. The hunt was a clusterfuck, and becoming more of one by the minute. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Kynareth Deagon - July 12, 2020 Donovan notices Derg lag back and Nemisis get kicked, this is no good. He finally decides that — yes — this hunt is too difficult for three wolves. So with one more vicious bite to the deers flank out of pure spite, he too is nearly kissed by one of the deers hind legs. His run eventually turns into a trot and then a walk, turning around to look to him team a little ways back. Eyes going back and forth between his two teammates he concludes Derg isn’t in as bad of shape as Nemisis is and he gallops to meet her. He inspects her intently and hums a low and worried. “Are you okay?” RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Derg - July 12, 2020 A resounding thud echoed to him from the cavity of the woman's chest.
Ouch. He really was lucky. Soon after Donovan turned, Derg was getting up. Nemisis was still down, also finding it hard to breathe for a moment. He trotted to them, hoping she was ok. He didn't want her to be severely hurt. It would be bad for them if they had to look after her. A founding pack needed strong members. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Nemisis - July 12, 2020 Her chest felt like she had swallowed a lightning bolt. The pain caused her to move stiffly, and drawing in more than a shallow breath hurt. The hunt abandoned Donovan comes to check on her and she grits her teeth, the only outward sign of how much pain she's currently in being tight eyes and pinned ears. "I'm alright. Pretty sure he broke a rib. I'm just going to be sore for a few months." RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Kynareth Deagon - July 12, 2020 Donovan shakes his head, pissed off at himself. He knew the hunt would be dangerous and nearly impossible yet he continued to go through with it. Now Nemisis is fucked up and it’s his fault. With an aggravated sigh he nods now, looking to them both. “I shouldn’t have called the hunt on that buck, my apologies.” He says to them. “Let’s get you to the den, maybe have you lay in some cold water.” RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Derg - July 12, 2020 Derg grunted. It didn't matter that it may or may not have been possible or impossible.
Wolves would try anything to eat. "Next time," he promised. He let Donovan help Nemisis, only giving help when he saw it fit; which wasn't much. If he touched her, he feared she may try and spin it on him that he liked her. He couldn't be bothered with that shit. RE: Some Good Ol’ Family Bonding - Nemisis - July 13, 2020 The injury was irritating at best. She could not draw breath deep enough to trot back to the dens and so begrudgingly submitted to Donovan's care. A seething irritation settled over her, playful flirting forgotten. By the time they got back to the dens she was exhausted, flopping onto her side and falling asleep. |
