Smells Like Teen Spirit - Elijah - July 17, 2020

75F°, currently it is light drizzle and set during the day. Located in Ankyra Sound, monolith forest

As the trees stretched out their limbs to heavens, Elijah wandered along their feet in a slow dance. His paws carefully tracing the ground with every step. Sure of foot, but light for his size. A specter in the night with a maw that matched his surroundings as it hung lightly open, tasting the salty air that hung in the damp night atmosphere.

The place was beautiful, shaded, plenty of food as well. There was some freshwater here and there, and enough fish to keep his belly filled while he had made this place his temporary home. It was, however, empty of anything else. No one ever visited, and even if it wasn't all that terrible, he was finding it quite boring lately to just do the same mundane thing every day.

With a placid look across his scarred mug, gold and sky eyes wandering the dank darkness as he pondered over the thought of what would he do today that might differ from yesterday in any way?

Sleep did not come easy to her lately and she had no idea why. Maybe it was the oppressive heat blocked in by the clouds during the day, or the fact that the temperature did not drop until well after nightfall, but whatever the reason the gunmetal girl was uncomfortable and unhappy.

She had tried to sleep on her belly (curled up as if she were still a child) and fidgeted within moments. She'd tried sprawling on her back, but the twisting roots prevented any comfort. With a frustrated little huff she twisited to her belly again and got to her feet.

While she fretted, something pale drifted between the trees. She did not see it; and any crunch of the sand was dismissed as her own agitation in the moment.

A little shake helped ease some of her frustration but it would not last. In a few more hours maybe things would be cool enough - but now she was wide awake, and Aero could think of nothing to do to pass the time considernig the stars were hidden and the sea, while alluring in the daylight, was a dangerously thundering void.

Once she had found a patch of cooler sand to sink in to, she felt a bit more content - except that the sound of something moving in the darkness continued unabated, and upon noticing this, she froze in place.

Thinking it would take him a whole day to figure something out and just waste it, but really, would it be that bad if he did? Call it meditation or something instead of a sad waste of potential time. With the lull of the distant wakes upon the beach, he could easily just sit here all day and let time tick away without feeling a moment of it - wait what was that?

A flash of dark within... the dark. But he was certain someone was here. He knew someone was here! That or he was going completely crazy and was now imagining little fairies tricking him in the dark.

Certain that someone was here, he followed in the direction he swore they went off into. Eventually, he caught a scent, aha! He knew it! He wasn't crazy after all! It was a lady too. Following her scent in the dark, he liked to image she was pretty and small, a dainty little thing that he could eyeball like candy. It surely has been a while now he was already imagining ogling this poor woman like some kind of jail bait.

Within the darkness he could have missed her, she was dark herself and blended almost nicely with her surroundings - shame, he could only tell some minor parts of her, even then... it was enough. he smiled at her smaller stature, she was indeed petite despite him not being able to pick out the more detailed parts of her. What a gift in this lonely time. A true blessing.

I thought I saw someone run by, hello there little lady. Pardon my intrusion, it's been a while since I've seen anyone.

The crunching of steps - heavy steps at that - gave her something to focus on, so the man's arrival wasn't a surprise. However the sight of his towering body, pale and almost luminous even in the blackness of the night, transformed him in to a monstrous beacon.

She could not see the scar tissue crossing his face; from where she lay Aero couldn't make out much beyond white and giant, so she had to adjust her position to get a better look. As she rose up to her full height and appraised him with an uneasy stare, he spoke.

His voice was low but clear. It was at-home with the sea's tumbling waves. He was polite, and clearly alone just like herself. Maybe she should have been more cautious of this stranger in the night but, like himself, Aero was glad to finally have company.

It's been a while since I've seen anyone. He mentions.

Yes, it is the same for me. She remarks with her own strident voice, trying to be heard above the waves by this towering godlike man made of seafoam. Where do you come from..?
