from the sky through the middle air - Erzulie - July 28, 2020

belated asf D: for pups, other tags for ref, but aw!

she had put it off and off and off, until neither @Arcelia nor @Solaire could hardly be contained. and then beyond that, clinging for whatever reason to the moorland den. but with the addition of the other three nearby, and with her own daughters gangly and great, erzulie knew she must move.
to @Rosalyn a chuff, to @Aningan a ringing bark, and with that the harlot set off across the rolling waves scented by brine.
in the distance, tall boulders broke the lash of the seawind, or what would come when the months turned colder. it was here that she brought her little blooming things, gait arcing into a run as erzulie sought to show them what would be their new land.

when mama explained it was time for a little move, solaire was eager to follow, happy skip in her step. she tried to keep up with erzulie's run; fell behind at some points but would not lose her fire. the new place was pretty- not vastly different, but the boulders would make good use for hide-and-seek, she thought, and the wild flowers and grasses enchanted her. she shot an obvious smile to the cinnamon woman who had lead the way.

When her mother spoke of leaving the den, she was apprehensive, at best. She lingered behind a second or two longer than her sister, looking to the sunning stone and then the den itself; although it grew cramped as their bodies increased in size, she could not help but feel attached to it. But, ultimately, the child followed after her mother and sister, eagerness to see more in the world growing with each step. Caught up in admiring the scenery, too, she stumbled a few times here and there—curse her awkward, lengthening limbs!—but was always quick to right herself. And when a gust of air passed her by, she slowed to a stop and raised her muzzle up against it, finding comfort in the salty scent it carried.

erzulie smiled; the wind lashed against the corners of her mouth, and it tasted of home, of the honeyed heatherflowers and the entanglements of lemon balm, growing on the knolls here and there. at their back a vast land, but the moorlands were eternal and great and belonged all to them.
"up heah," erzulie urged, climbing to the highest point of the rendezvous. "if you look in any direction, you can see de wolves in rusalka." she began to point out their distant forms here and there, wishing in this moment that she might see one of the older brood arriving, but knowing she would not. "an' you can see de storms roll in from de sea."
