And on this night began to wonder why, - Miriam - August 04, 2020

After meeting a strange woman, Miriam took a route to avoid her. Something from within simply said to remove herself from the situation, it felt like the Goddess was giving a warning so; and she diligantly followed that feeling. However, that same passage to avoid the raven-woman was the same why to get back to Neverwinter, and avoiding so, meant she was getting further away.

The moonlight casted a silver glare to the grassland, but the rain poured, making what could've been a true beauty, full of gray and brown, a mudfall entrance. She had to sleep somewhere else, and temporary hunt for survival, and before she knew it- it was already dark. Another day wasted, and another day without her son and daughter. She was worried for them- much less herself.

She sat in the field, her head high with water dripping down her snout, "Goddess," she whispered, "I pray to thee', guide me back.." to where, exactly? Should she say home? That was not where her heart laid, only to where her children lived, "where my family is."

RE: And on this night began to wonder why, - RIP Bronco - August 04, 2020

After having found himself to be ill-equipped to hunt successfully on the Moonspear's slopes, Bronco descended into the wilderness beyond, in hopes of tracking down something small that he could bring home as a meal for himself and Meerkat. He didn't want her to feel obliged to feed both of them, not when she'd only made her first real kill less than a month ago. For now, he would provide for the both of them, and engage in pack hunts so that more mouths could be fed with one meal.

The weather wasn't great- nor did it help him track anything down, as it washed away pawprints, and filled his nose with the scent of wet earth. It was warmer in the lower altitudes, though, so at least the rain didn't feel cold. He was beginning to give up hope when he caught sight of a silhouette in the distance- and while it took him a moment, he did eventually recognize her. He remembered, with a curious smile, the way she'd intercepted his path to keep him from foolishly throwing himself into an elk hunt which could've resulted in his death...And how they'd played 'bobstones' together. She looked different now- though it could've simply been because her fur traced the outlines of her body as her pelt became saturated with raindrops. Still, aware of the fact that he himself had likely, actually changed a great deal since he'd seen her last- he approached, with his head slung low, and tail waving gently side to side. He uttered a soft chuff- feeling a bit silly interrupting her, as she seemed to back in both the moonlight and the downpour.

"Bronco." A smile to her face, as the air of familarity came to the maiden. A wolf she met long ago- long before her own children, and while she still continued with adventures. She remembered he once invited her to his home, and she rejected it so, still wishing to travel. Though now, Miriam must remain at Neverwinter until her children are independent.

She doesn't remember when these thoughts came to be, when she started to urn to leave. Perhaps it was due to the fact her poor daughter, Liliana was assaulted. It wasn't safe- it wasn't home, if she was on the move, perhaps all would be forgotten. But for them, she remains.

"How are you?"

RE: And on this night began to wonder why, - RIP Bronco - August 04, 2020

His summon turned her to gaze upon him with her endless look, those two frosted lilac eyes seemingly gazing through him though not without some trace of recognition and warmth. He continued his approach, the swing in his tail seemingly boulstered by the sound of his own name on her tongue. He was glad she remembered him- though he knew he'd been little more than a foolhardy teenager at that point in his life.

"I'm good- er, well, thanks," He said, correcting his grammar slightly. He'd decided that he ought to trim off the few malapropisms and colloquialisms he'd learned from his mother, in an attempt to seem more well-mannered, as he believed himself to be. "It's nice to see you again, Miriam. I wondered, after, where you might've gone. D'you..Have you found a place to settle down since then?" He asked, ears flicked forward, allowing the raindrops to spill down their sides, and fram his face.

RE: And on this night began to wonder why, - Miriam - August 06, 2020

There was a tired smile, "A lot.. Has happened." Since seeing Bronco, she supposed her life had turned to a turmoil of sorts, and almost seemed like a trial from the Goddess, "I found a place, however I am there due to my children." It was a confession. As while she was gone, Miriam had given birth to two beautiful children.

She loved them entirely, but it was definitely a change to what she had to say from the wolf. Miriam remembered she valued her freedom, but at the moment, she could not say that more. Sacrifices are needed for motherhood, but even so, she wouldn't trade her children away for the thought.

RE: And on this night began to wonder why, - RIP Bronco - August 06, 2020

He was certain he caught a tinge of sadness in her voice and in her soft eyes, no matter how calm her expression was. Even a doll made with a face of the most flawless porcelaine could cast emotions depending on the light. His lips drew together, and he found himself growing concerned. He could smell the scent of others in her fur, but he didn't recognize any of them...Some other pack, in this area, that he had yet to learn about and potentially explore, should his sister want to go on an ambassador mission. He'd take note of the scents he recognized, though, just in case they stumbled across a place that smelled like pine and cedar, like Miriam.

At the mention of children, though, Bronco dipped into a play-bow, though his tail remained low and swung just above his hocks. "You have children?" He whined admiringly, as he rose out of his play bow. "Congratulations, Miriam, I bet they're adorable, I mean, they have to be," He said, blushing slightly with the realization that he was intentionally complimenting her, albeit indirectly. "What're their names? We could- I dunno where you're headed, but you could tell me all about them, and I could walk you wherever you're going?" He offered eagerly.

RE: And on this night began to wonder why, - Miriam - August 06, 2020

She held a bright smile, "Thank you, I have two. My daughter Liliana, and my son Asmoses." There was pride surging from them, how small and pretty they were, and watching them grow. However as she has been gone for some time.. She was worried for them "Admittingly, I am.. A bit lost, I live in Neverwinter, but I cannot find my way back."

"Do you know where that is?" She questioned him with a rather hopeful look. As Miriam had been lost, she was struggling to find back to the forest where her family was. The rain masked the scents of where she previously travelled, and now was wandering aimlessly, hoping to find it again.

RE: And on this night began to wonder why, - RIP Bronco - August 06, 2020

His shoulders rose to his ears and he snuggled his muzzle into his chest fluff as she described her children, giving him names to know them by- and naturally, they were every bit as adorable as he would've imagined them to be. "Ohh, those names are so sweet!" He gushed, before he caught sight of how ridiculous he probably looked, all scrunched up as though to protect himself from a tsunami of cuteness. He was about to ask how old they were when she admitted that she was lost. He un-turtled his head, and pricked his ears, but found himself disappointed when he realized that there really wasn't much he could do to help her. He was brand new to Moonspear- and had never heard of the pack named Neverwinter Forest before.

"I...Don't." He said. "I just joined Moonspear like...A week-ish ago? But maybe, if you know where Neverwinter Forest is in relation to Moonspear...We can find our way from there?" He asked, hoping that that might be of some use. Surely, the peak was visible from most places in the vicinity- and as long as Neverwinter Forest wasn't too far away, they could potentially use the mountain to help them get pointed in the right direction.

RE: And on this night began to wonder why, - Miriam - August 06, 2020

He was so nice, and Miriam couldn't help by smile along with him. She couldn't help but admire how the situation was, and how delightful Bronco was. Even if the kids weren't his own, he praised and sung like they were his. It made her dearly miss them so, and regret wandering out too far.

"I do not know much about my Pack's politics," the maiden said, refraining from saying she was rather a recluse within the Pack, "i'm assuming we are close.. I've been gone for only a day or two." Despite the lack of information Miriam held, she hoped that could provide some insight. She hadn't been gone for a week, only a few days, so surely, the two packs were close?

That would be hopeful, "You are in Moonspear now?" she remembered he was in Firebirds, and was curious on the change.

RE: And on this night began to wonder why, - RIP Bronco - August 06, 2020

Miriam drew his attention to politics, but Bronco merely smiled. As far as he knew- and he hadn't had any really serious conversations with Hydra about diplomacy- Moonspear didn't have any set enemies, so he assumed that there would be no issues with him helping Miriam out. It wasn't like he was planning on keeping her away from her children, or taking her on a cruise around his pack's territories, so he figured they would be fine. Part of his duty as guardian was escorting those who needed a bit of assistance and protection. He wanted to make sure that Miriam found her way home to her kids, safe and sound.

He supposed that given two days of travel, that they couldn't be too far from where her home was. She likely would've made mention had she crossed over any mountain terrain- and likely wouldn't have done so anyway, not with kids at home...Unless her departure was a bid to get herself some free time. Kids could be exhausting, after all- and he wouldn't have judged her too harshly had she actually gone out, leaving her pack behind, for a day-trip just to renew herself a bit.

He nodded. "Yup. I'm here to work on my trades. The Firebirds- my old pack- are allies with Moonspear, so me an' my kid sister came here to do some work and get some training." He explained. He meandered a few paces away from her, trying to gaze up through the clouds and fog toward the mountain- and couldn't see it, but he knew which direction it was in. "Just curious- Neverwinter Forest- is it mostly like...softwood trees? Like spruce or pine, the ones with needles?" He asked.

RE: And on this night began to wonder why, - Miriam - August 06, 2020

"I see, that is quite a journey you are taking." The Orchid never had anything similar, and she doesn't really believe they held any particular allies. There was all that was needed in within after all, and the trades that could be obtained, was just as good within their home. Some leave to hone skills.. However it wasn't really the reason she left, it was just a simple whime of wishing to see the world.

"Evergreen pines; they everywhere. It is a dense forest." That was as much as she knew about the place, there wasn't much else to note. It was forest with a hood, and coated with various of prey. A truly good home, Mal decided to claim.

RE: And on this night began to wonder why, - RIP Bronco - August 06, 2020

He smiled in grateful acknowledgement of the praise he was being given. It was a challenge, joining a new pack and then doing all the training required to fit in and impress the leaders, but it wasn't an endeavour he'd taken upon himself for pride- it was at his sister's request that they move, so he- her adoring guardian- had complied, in a bid to make sure that she got what she wanted, but was safe while she did so.

"Ah," He said, pleased that his guess had been correct. The name of the pack was a bit of a giveaway- as evergreens would weather even the harshest winter snow storms without losing the green hue of their needles...Thus, unlike hardwood forests, it would maintain the verdant hue of summer. He'd spied such a thing from the slopes of his new home, and was pleased that he might be able to offer Miriam some assistance. "Then I think I know which way we need to go," He said. "There's a lake nearby, yeah? In a sort of rocky crater?" He asked, hoping he'd identified the right forest, and that he wasn't just going to steer her in the wrong direction. "I think I saw an evergreen forest from the mountain. We're just a bit...South-west of it, I think, we can prolly- probably- skirt around the lake and get to it by nightfall." He said.

RE: And on this night began to wonder why, - Miriam - August 06, 2020

"Yes!" She had a hopeful tone. It was definitely near it, though while never personally venturing near the crator, she saw it from the forests borders occasionally, and as well on the way when firstly entering Neverwinter. She felt a bit teary-eyed, with the relief that somehow she can get back in peace.

"Thank you Bronco," most likely without him, Miriam would've remained lost. She dearly missed her kids.

RE: And on this night began to wonder why, - RIP Bronco - August 06, 2020

With their destination confirmed, he tipped his head, so they might begin on their journey. He could sense how relieved she was, now that she had a way back, an eagerness that bid him to pick up a stride that would allow them to move with haste without tiring themselves out. It would still be a few hours before they arrived back at the forest, and he would have to make the journey back to Moonspear as well, so he couldn't exhaust all his energy. He would let Miriam set the pace, though, and he would move with her, guiding her with his rough knowledge of their whereabouts.

"You're very welcome, s'my pleasure, Miriam," He said, with a kindly nod of his head. "I'm working toward getting my guardian mastery- I figure escorting a lost friend back to her children counts as working as a guide and a guard, at least," He said. "But, more importantly, it gives me a chance to catch up with you," He said, with a chipper twinkle in his eyes. "So what do Asmoses and Liliana look like?" He asked, hoping she might take the lead and tell him all about her new children.

RE: And on this night began to wonder why, - Miriam - August 07, 2020

wrap to neverwinter? can say it took a bit as they misc. talked!

"I appreciate you for being my guard."  She didn't understand too much about trades since coming to the wild, but understood it was akin similar to simply gaining experience. After a certain amount of doing something, it was the recongization in the wild. She thought it was a proud act to do, and respected Bronco for training up to gain a mastery in guiding. She was happy to help so.

"Their fur is a slight tint like my own," Her gray was perculiar shade of a gray agouti, and she hasn't met someone similar to her own. Her Orchid was full of wolves of similarities of lighter tones, grays and golds, "though they have spots, as their sire' does. I'm not sure if they'll outgrow it, or keep." There was something about children were certain traits they held disappeared over time. She wondered if they would have the spots like their father..

"Oh, but there's something so odd about their eyes.. They're getting old enough that slowly their true eye color will appear, but it looks like both of them are having two shades!" It was a gradual process, but she starting to notice that the tint has been shifting. One seemed lighter then the other between the two, and both of them held the opposite sides. It was too far to tell what color though.

"They're truly like twins."

RE: And on this night began to wonder why, - RIP Bronco - August 07, 2020

I'd love that :D

While he couldn't forsee anything coming up that might call for him to protect Miriam, life was full of surprises and given the fact that Miriam had children waiting for her back at the pack, he'd want to make sure that they didn't have to wait too long, and that she was in perfect condition once she made her way back. And who knows- perhaps this might lead to a development of the relationship between Moonspear and Neverwinter Forest, as the two territories weren't too far apart. On a good day (and there hadn't been many lately) they could even see the hint of dark green in the distance. He felt strongly that it would be a good idea to be on decent terms with their close neighbours.

He tried to imagine them- two small, velveteen miniatures with their mother's hazed cashmere colour to their pelt, though apparently they were both developing their adult eye shades- and they were odd. "Woah!" He said, surprised but pleased. "That's so cool! Are they like...One eye's your eye colour, and the other their father's colour?" He asked, and listened with rapt attention as they made their way through the fog, toward her homeland.
