to realize it's right before my eyes - Lio - October 29, 2020

@Knox - I'm so sorry this took so long <3

Traveling with Knox was enjoyable. They hadn't gone particularly far, and they weren't strictly bound to one another, but it was fun regardless. Far superior to being alone, at the very least. He was a kind person, and they greatly enjoyed his company. Perhaps a bit too much, if they were being honest. Such... attachments were not particularly approved of back in the Valley. But he was a good friend, and Lio couldn't help but feel more... themself, around him. There was a camraderie there, they thought, in the form of their strange facial markings.

They'd wandered a bit today, into a beautiful forest. The colors were startlingly bright on the leaves - back where they were from, the leaves hadn't morphed into something so vibrant. Or, at least, not where they could remember - they were born so late in the year that it was hard for them to remember much except for winter.

Pausing, the teen leaned down to sniff at a small pile of fallen leaves. They really were pretty.

The white-footed male strode not far behind Lio, watching the young wolf sniff at the leaves with an amused smile before turning to look at the copse of trees himself. The forest was painted with various hues of reds, oranges, yellows, and some greens that remained steadfast through the changing- but mostly fire red with maples. Ember-licked eyes brightened by the autumn sun took them in with a strong sense of contentment at this beautiful place where they'd found themselves.

Life goes on.

His surely did. Knox still had no idea where his path with Lio would take him, but he was determined to enjoy it regardless.

Right now though, he felt like stopping to take in the pass between the mountains for a little bit longer. After a moment of thought, he strode up to his companion's flank, his tail waving slowly behind him. It's nice here, this'd be a good place to rest. It was a subtle suggestion, if she wanted to keep moving then by all means they would- but what's the rush? Lio seemed mystified by the concept of fall, so he figured they'd want to stay for a bit as well.

"Did you know that the leaves turned such beautiful colors?" they asked their companion, turning to look at him. He was made for this season, they noted in wonderment. Autumn was just not a season that they had experienced in full - their homeland was cold and more gray than this place.

They had no idea where they were going, overall, but there was so much to see here. So much to experience. Lio stepped on a particularly crunchy leaf with a small smile, tail swaying slightly behind them.

This really was a beautiful place.

Pink eyes turned back toward Knox and they tipped their head to the side. "Maybe we could find a place to shelter for the night," they offered.
