taking a bite, worm in the apple - Zephyr - November 22, 2020

for Polaris!
He trudges onward, numbed by all that has happened since his mother died in his arms. The world is cold and cruel, and it moves forward without a single glance back toward him, without even the slightest pause to allow him to adjust to this new reality. His birth parents, both dead; one truly, and one dead only in his mind. He is an orphan now. Alone, save @Rosalie, his only true parent. The only one who has always loved him, and never left him. The only one who still holds the full depth of his love. He can't wait to return to her, to melt into her embrace, to feel loved again.
His thoughts drift to @Polaris, and he wonders where she is. She must be somewhere near. She'd always been far more stable than he is, less likely to bounce around from place to place. He halts suddenly, struck by a whim, and calls for her. Maybe she's close enough to hear it.

RE: taking a bite, worm in the apple - RIP Polaris - November 30, 2020

she lingers fretfully upon easthollow's slumbering borders when the call tickles at ears already perked as if waiting for the very moment her sibling made the decision to chance giving her a shout. something sparks in the shift of that mismatched look, a heavy glaze seeming to lift from it as minute paws pressed the grass and she straightened like an anxious meerkat surveying the area. could it be....zephyr??

and she's flying, truly appearing like the dove she's so referenced to as paws skim the earth with practiced agility and her nimble figure weaves quickly from her home and those ever watching stones. it's frankly the lightest she's felt in a long time in those moments of bliss, her steadfast home to her back and the giddying mixture of the unknown and seeing someone she'd missed so dearly before her. she half wished there was a way she could capture this moment and preserve it, the severely underrated inbetween moments- so trampled on by impatience and greed. when the light ahead of you blurs any baggage or misgivings that inevitably always wriggles its way into even the best of situations; for just that moment, naivety grants you pure rapture and serenity.

but polaris is no god, she is as victim to these human needs to crash through these delicate moments and devour what lay ahead as  much as any other soul. and so no time is wasted in her dash through the familiar glade, imagining herself as a child covering this very ground as the sun dappled nicely across her back, it seems so real even with the chill that ruled the lands now hugging at her slender frame. and there she- no he! because this is not the past, and that is not always a bad thing because now zephyr trusts her, zephyr opened up to her and told her, zephyr is her brother and she loves him.

she skids to a stop, eyes fever bright and breath pooling from her jaws in visible little puffs as she blinks warmly to the silver spectre. "zephyr!she gasps once enough oxygen has been consumed to ease her racing heart "i've missed you so much zeph! it's been much too long"

there was so much she wanted to say, all building at the back of her mind with daunting clamour but she batted it back, wishing to appreciate this moment of silence; of simply sharing each other's presence. it's kind of bittersweet really, standing here with him, so close to...eyes drift instinctively to the distant direction of swiftcurrent, chest clenching. that feeling, it would always linger wouldn't it? yet she didn't really mind, in fact she figured it'd be more disturbing if she woke up one day and felt nothing about those days. she blinks back to her brother, has he visited there since it was where they called home? she waits in that silence, allowing zephyr to speak first whilst trying to sort the mess of questions and topics she wished to discuss all the while trying to ignore the shadow of the biggest, looming question sneering from the back of her mind;

did zephyr know papa was dead?
