Now this place reminded her of home. She lay down and lucked at the ice, her fur hot but mouth now cool, the shiver sent to her brain refreshed her.
Ah, frozen land. So here we are, she thought, so far away from Kamčatka but at last the world had a sliver of familiarity. A sliver. It was still a distant cry from the sky of volcano smoke and hard earth.
Kirigina would move on soon, but for now she enjoyed the sounds of winter.
