Boggart Shenanigans - Osprey - September 09, 2014

@Fang

It was an early afternoon, the sky was covered in a thick blanket of grey clouds in various shades, but the sun managed to find gaps in it occasionally and the bright light reached the Earth only to disappear again a moment later. The leaves had started to become yellow and wither away, but the change was so subtle that Osprey noticed it only, when one particular leave landed directly on her muzzle. She brushed it off and lifted her head only to catch the first signs that the summer was leaving.

The little bridge between the two seasons made Osprey always a little sad, because she now knew that there were dark and rainy autumn evenings and bitter cold winter nights ahead. It would take a very long time for the summer to come back again and bring everything to life. She had wandered away from the Plateau and arrived at the river, where Willow had taught her, how to fish. Remembering her first failed attempts made the girl smile and now, just out of curiosity she dipped her muzzle slightly in the water and tried to grab one of the small fish that was dashing by. She didn't catch it, of course, but just like the previous time, water got in her nose, making her sneeze and cough.

Assuming this is Somewhere near the hotsprings along whitefish river? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Cavorting around the flatlands was the way Fang had opted to spend his day and why not, having recently been living in the mountains the gentle inclines and vacant, grassy plateau's of the valley home were a most welcome change. Mix that in with the absence of burdens that living with the mountain wolves had, the hybrid had every right to trot, prance, and frolic like a child. The downside to running around all day was the demand it took on ones physical body. A strong thirst had slowly crept up, and whether he wanted it to be or not, a water-source was his next destination. Another thing the flatlands had in abundance.

Having rather rapidly located a the river he made his way to quench the his need for water, his bounding around stopping only before he fell in, and in a single motion head went down, tongue came out, and water was had. Of course, his momentary respite was interrupted by the sounds of spluttering a short distance off, the hybrid could be lucky, a drowning, small defenceless animal for late evening lunch, why not.

He made his way along the rivers edge for a short time, before his golden eyes fell on the 'defenceless drowning creature' which was in fact a fellow wolf. Having obviously arrived moments after some failed attempt at something the hybrid made his presence known. You know, most drink water through their mouth, not their nose. Of course he was assuming she'd just nearly drowned herself trying to drink, the wet fur around her head, the spluttering and sneeze. If he was wrong? oh well.

ooc: I was vague about the location, therefore it works.

Why did it happen, that whenever she was in an embarrassing situation, there was always someone around to witness it? Yet Osprey could always make fun of these situations, therefore she looked up grinning to see the one, who was speaking to her. He was a little peculiar looking, but she didn't dwell on it very much. Life in Flightless Falcons had taught her to be very tolerant to all kinds of wolves, because - you know, everyone had a right to look the way they wanted.

"If you are so sure about that," she began slyly, "have you met all the creatures that roam the Earth? I mean the fact that you have seen "most of them" drinking water with mouth, doesn't prove anything. Maybe the rest are nose-snorkeling like me?"

Suddenly the hybrid found himself staring blankly at the female, blinking a few times as his mouth opened and closed with a small "uuh". Apparently he just got a one-two punch with logic. Okay, you win that round. An exaggerated pout showing on his face. Well, I don't know any wolves that drink through their nose. Just sayin'

He stepped closer to the water, his golden eyes fixed on the female. But I don't think there's any animal that drinks through their nose. That'd be creepy, i mean, how would it breath? That made sense right? he dropped his eyes for a moment, thinking on his words. Yeah that made sense.

"Through the mouth, obviously," Osprey had a ready answer and cast a theatrical glance at the wolf. She liked to play the "all-knowing child card" before getting serious. It was a nice way to test people and see their reactions and it didn't matter, what their first impressions of her were. "Besides now you will know one," she announced, "truth to be told I am only practicing, but once I perfect that skill there will be no match for me in this valley." She stomped her forepaw for effect and looked so solemn, as if she had meant every single word she had said.

"Name is Osprey," she finally cracked a grin and wagged her tail, indicating that all the act before had been just a game for her. "May I know yours?"

@osprey Boop, sorry about the sudden absence.

Often the serious creature around those he didn't know, he was having a hard time not laughing at her words. The quick witted female certainly knew what she was doing, even if he didn't believe for a moment she was actually trying to drink through her nose. A Grin mimicked hers as he answered, Osprey, eh? I'm Fang. He lifted his head, a quick sniff at the air as the familiar scent lingered. And Osprey, my nearly drowned friend who drinks through their nose and breathes through their mouth. Do you Plateau wolves just multiply by the day or something? How many had he met now, 30? 40? well maybe 6, but still, a new one everyday, anyone would think they were near their lands or something.

Of course the scent that greeted him was of a slightly damp plateau wolf. And Osprey, my nearly drowned friend who drinks through their nose and breathes through their mouth. Do you Plateau wolves just multiply by the day or something? How many had he met now, 30? 40? well maybe 6, but still, a new one everyday, anyone would think they were near their lands or something.

ooc: no worries.

"Well, Fang, what can I say," Osprey said, fighting hard not to burst out in laughter. The way he had spoken to her was so funny and it had been quite a long time she had heard a good joke or had someone tease her a bit at least. "Come for a visit and see for yourself," she finished, knowing well that this part was not possible. If Fox happened to be on the borders, she would eat his face even before he would have a chance to state his business there.

"I have at least two doubles back at home," she continued. "I am Osprey Version Nr.2," this was not a lie, if someone had a look at her family tree. Osprey was named after her long lost uncle Osprey Sr. and then there was Junior too.
