gotta try harder, be better, do worse - Dorian - December 17, 2020

a friendly spar with dorian

He paced around the camp, not really minding his business. Any wolf he tried to talk to was busy and so he continued. Dorian felt he needed to give back a bit more to the pack who kindly took him in. He had to do something to prove he was worthy of being part of it.

He thought back to the intruder, how he had blindly rushed in and bitten their tail... Maybe he could do some fighting? A friendly bout between pack mates sounded good. No hurt feelings if he lost - cause he would lose. The coywolf lifted his head, more or less yipping a warm challenge to anyone.

The Constable was returning from his usual patrol along the borders. Wandering into the main camp to rest up a bit, eat a little to keep his energy levels up and see if the caches needed filling. Well, that was his original plan until he Dorian, and heard him, trying to get some attention. A challenge?

He smiled, approaching with a friendly posture. Is that a challenge I hear? A little dramatic, but when was the jester king not playful in any way? En garde! She cries out, lowering his front half just enough to make a quick play bow, to ensure that what was to happen was all fun and games and not malicious by any means.

What followed was the Constable rushing in with an open, "soft mouth" like bite with lips more or less covering his teeth except for tiny little tips of his canines as opposed to the peeled back ferocious snarl.

"Only a challenge if I get challenged!" Dorian snaps back in a friendly way, seeing Hiero approach and accept. Though the two were beginning to become friends, he hadn't encountered the constable around the pack lately. Maybe it was just because the coywolf was wandering and Hiero was also wandering.

Also known as two trains passing in the night. How poetic. Hiero would march forward, showing his teeth. Dorian retorted by curling his lip in amusement before lunging. The tussle at the border made him aware of his excess energy. He wanted to reign in it, control it, and be a force the pack could depend on. First step; beating Hiero!

RE: gotta try harder, be better, do worse - Hieronymous - December 21, 2020

As with every spar before this, Hiero was careful to not bite down or even pinch. Just the feeling of teeth would be indication enough of what would happen if this was a real battle - it was merely to sharpen reflexes, learn from one another any new moves or clever little things that might shift a battle into one's favour. A learning opportunity.

He feined the bite, quickly turning around on swift, purposely placed paws and shoving his ass first toward Dorian's shoulder in an attempt to hip check him off his feet. Cheekily looking over his shoulder with a chuckle, he wondered if he had managed to take the young lad by surprise!

"Whoa!"

Dorian wasn't expecting that. That's probably why Hiero was a better fighter than him. He had experience. The coywolf had nothing but a pocket full of dreams. He'd had to do better for the pack. He'd have to toughen up.

"Playing dirty, I see!" he laughs, lunging once more. If Hiero wanted to shove his ass in his face, he'd best believe Dorian would take the offer and turn it around. Dipping under his tail, the coywolf tried to softly bite the other's hing leg.

Hiero was always the goof of sorts. Enjoying to put some fun into moments where they may not always be appropriate. Now, for example. He wasn't trying to toy with Dorian or to make him look foolish, but perhaps, just make them both laugh while fine-tuning some abilities of theirs! So far, it seemed to be working to his pleasure!

A nip on his back leg brought a little shock to him, Dorian had chosen to underneath the Constable, an interesting move since the painted man could just... sit right down ontop of his head. Which he did. A sort of silly way to try and pin him in a way, but Hieronymous was curious to see what next the friendly guy would come up with now!

RE: gotta try harder, be better, do worse - Dorian - December 22, 2020

The great thing about being lean and quick was that he could be quick. Dorian was already crouched, having done so to duck and nip Hiero. He saw the constable's arse before it shot down, attempting to pin him. And the newbie at fighting took instinct again; he fell to his stomach and rolled out of the way.

Not all was quick enough though. Hiero managed to pin one leg underneath his ass. One leg that hadn't been properly tucked. Awkwardness at his position made Dorian yelp softly. Shock or surprise, who knew? He crunched his stomach, whipping into an even more awkward position to try and bite at anything.

Was it a flank, a hind leg? Didn't matter. He could only reach the back half of Hiero's body.

RE: gotta try harder, be better, do worse - Hieronymous - December 26, 2020

Well, that didn't work as he wanted it to, not completely at least. He had managed to pin down one of Dorian's legs at least and he offered a cheeky grin over his shoulder while the guy bit at his backend. Well, if the Constable could feel it it was a good strategy for Dorian, unfortunately, he didn't feel a damn thing and simply fell backward onto the lighter fighter to still try and pin him under the Constable. It was uncouth and strange, but it was fun regardless! Maybe next time Hieronymous would take it more seriously than just some ridiculous one-sided wrestling match but today was just not that day.

RE: gotta try harder, be better, do worse - Dorian - December 26, 2020

"Okay, okay!" came the coywolf's yelp. He flailed under Hiero's weight dramatically, pushing a free paw on the constable's back to get him off. "I submit!" he utters in equal dramatics, a ragged sigh escaping his dark lips.

"Now get off me, ya lug!" he adds, starting to feel the pressure of the man's body on his. Dorian bit back an annoyed sigh, realizing he had given his all to the situation only to be pinned so easily. He may have been playing a bit but...

It just goes to show how much he still had to learn.

RE: gotta try harder, be better, do worse - Hieronymous - December 26, 2020

Hmm? I dunno- Dramatically he 'melted' over Dorian's back, sprawling out with his belly to the skies and his head almost hitting the ground near Dorian's far shoulder. I'm quite comfortable here, aren't you? Chuckling, he didn't want to make the lad feel bad for losing this round. Hiero was a freak of nature after all, there was no shame in losing to someone who couldn't feel the pain being inflicted on them. Both a gift and a curse depending on how one saw it at a certain angle.

Eventually, Hieronymous did get up, sliding off of Dorian and laying about on the ground on his side, eyes peeking over to see what Dorian may be up to next.

RE: gotta try harder, be better, do worse - Dorian - December 28, 2020

"I'mma bite your ass" Dorian proclaims a bit louder than intended. Far be it for him to be embarrassed about it, he proceeds to arch his neck and chom down on Hiero's muscle. It may not be his ass, but it was as close as he'd get with the great lug on him.

Even after the constable gets off the coywolf's body, Dorian is still spitting his hair out. He may not have won this round but the young man was already planning his next move. One day he'd beat Hiero, claim a title in the pack for himself... but only when he was ready.
