till the rains from heaven did fall - Aditya - March 12, 2021

though winter was passing, slowly but surely, his worry grew with each day gone by. not many souls had come to occupy the plateau, and the ones that had tended to be fleeting. they could not hold a territory with limited numbers, and they would not survive off limited wolfpower.

aditya paced the narrow beach, mulling his options. they could return to the hinterlands, seek out vein's pack. . .the man had been a good hunter as well as conversationalist. but the prospect of living somewhere lined with skeletons just didn't seem right to him, and so he pushed that option to the back of his mind.

they could seek refuge in the valley, or travel further up the coast. adi wasn't certain, but he knew he'd lived long enough to potentially outlast any enemies that remained within teekon wilds. who would be left?

as long as they didn't cross the sunspires, they ran little risk of running into old morningsiders.

he entered the surf, wetting his ankles. drew his tongue along his lips, pensive, nervous. he was loath to leave the sea. he was loath to leave this place. but for the sake of his daughter, her well-being and future, he could not afford to be stubborn, to dig in his heels. he had a responsibility to her that went well beyond himself.

open to anyone interested/involved with OBP, being vague and tagging @Brook @Dashiell just in case :)

RE: till the rains from heaven did fall - Hollis - March 12, 2021

hollis departed the mountain of falcons and continued on, following the sound of the ocean. when her paws met sand, it was not the first time, but it had been so long that the feeling of the substance may as well have been brand new. the ocean had taken her breath already in the days leading up to this one, but she still could scarcely believe the power of the sounds made by waves crashing against the shore. the din was like the breath of a sleeping monster.

she did not stand alone here, however. a trail of pawprints began where the sand grew damp and lead to a tall, timber-furred figure who stood in the shallows. hollis took her time approaching him, enjoying the warmth underfoot as the sand seemed to absorb the very sunlight despite the chilly, windy atmosphere. finally she paused just shy of the water line, lifted her head, and offered him a soft chuff.

it was her scent that alerted him; he would not have heard her chuff over the rush of waves, engrossed as he was in his own thoughts. he turned and bristled slightly, though it quickly subsided. he had neither the numbers nor the might to kick an intruder out of the territory. the border markings were barely there.

she could bide here for the time being—at least if she did not bring trouble.

hello, aditya greeted, slowly sloshing toward her. a brilliant creature of ruddy browns, she was, and not more than a few years old. if she sought a home here, he could certainly use another young body. what brings you to the beach?

he noticed she stayed clear of the water, although some always did. he, himself, enjoyed the surf.
