I want to touch the other side - Kallik - March 25, 2021

set for late evening
@Merrit for reference, but he's def welcome to join too <3

He had left Merrit sleeping, at least he was fairly certain he was sleeping anyway. He hadn't wandered too far, just to the meadow in the foothills, not very far from where they camped for the night. The silvery meadow had drawn him in. The snow had melted from the area, but the fields still lacked the lush green grass that was promised by the dead, yellow stuff that crunched below his paws as he walked.

He eventually found a tree to sit near, leaning against the trunk as he slid to the ground to rest. His gaze slowly drifted up to the sky and took in the stars. He had avoided the activity of stargazing as much as possible—it reminded him too much of what he had lost. But he missed the stars more than he thought he would, and it had started to feel disrespectful to his mother's memory to ignore this strange link between them.

So he studied the bright lights, wishing he knew more about them than he did.

RE: I want to touch the other side - Draper - March 27, 2021

Back to his wandering ways, Draper went north. His ~secret~ encounter with Ibis was something he looked fondly back on, but he thought it best to stay away for awhile. Maybe forever. The last thing he wanted was to interfere with whatever important things she had going on. Although, maybe he'd already done that. Yes, it was better to stay away and leave her be, although he couldn't deny that she crept into his thoughts plenty of times over the past few weeks.

The coyote caught wind of a wolf, and—as always—he approached with cautious optimism. It seemed like more and more wolves were coming around to giving his kind a chance, so maybe this one would be in that category. Hello! he chirped, letting his bushy tail wave behind him. He could always scram if this wasn't a good time or this one had it out for coyotes, but he hadn't seen anybody in weeks, and he was craving some social interaction.

RE: I want to touch the other side - Kallik - April 13, 2021

The soft crunching of grass told him he wasn't alone anymore, and he turned to see a stranger approaching. He looked like no wolf he had ever seen, but things like that didn't matter much to him. The other man seemed friendly enough in his posture and greeting that Kallik figured he wasn't in any kind of danger. Besides, he was larger and his lanky child form had started to build muscle on his travels; if he needed to protect himself, he certainly could.

He dipped his head in response to the other wolf's greeting. Hey, he said, which was more of a greeting than he gave most. His body remained relaxed, and he looked back up to the sky, neither inviting the stranger to join him, nor giving any indication that he didn't want him there. If he wanted to stay and look at the stars with him, then Kallik wouldn't mind.

Draper was always a little puzzled when he said hello and then the other wolf seemed to ignore him. Maybe they were trying to hint that they weren’t interested in chatting. Well, he could take that hint just fine.

Figuring he was better off sage than dead, Draper merely continued walking the way he had been going to begin with, passing by the stranger without indulging in further conversation.

sorry for the short thread! kallik is awkward

It seemed the other wolf was not into company, which was strange since he was the one that said hi first. It didn't matter much to Kallik, though; he preferred to be on his own anyway.

He spared a quick glance at the stranger's back as he left, and then lifted his gaze to the night sky once more, content to study the stars in silence.
