Aiwë didn't want to overwhelm herself by planting too many new herbs at once. There was still just the two marigold bunches, plus a couple of short daisy blooms that hadn't yet finished growing or sprouted any flowers yet. More would come in time, when these growths were well established in their new home.

She tended the four young plants like a mother might children, though these green children didn't need quite so much attention. Several times a day, the mouse brought wads of dripping moss from the thin streams that wound along the stone terraces of the Spine's heights.

Today, the pale agouti took to pruning at a few dead leaves, tugging a weed here and there as she fretted about the sapling plants -- tilting her head just so to examine them from another angle.
