The open stretch of rolling, aureate fields rippling like desert sands catching the sun would have been too far for a pack hunt -- it just wasn't worth travelling so far and trying to transport the meat back to the Spine despite how rich the land was or how many herds grazed there. Besides, it was abundantly clear that the place was crawling with other predators: mainly bears and scavenging bands of coyotes that would have made hunting here even harder.

Even so, Lótë decided to explore the plains a little better, keeping an eye peeled for anything bigger and hungrier than her as she wandered.
