Spoken from the Heart - Leila - September 18, 2014 @Shadow Leila snuggled deeper into the thorny plant that she allowed to house her from the world. Though sleeping in a rose bush had many Hurts, she only felt a few, through her constantly moving in the bush, dulling them down. The perks were the Smell Nice of the crimson flowers. A soft Happy for her nose. It was her tummy that protested against her continuing her sleep. Again, it was empty. And again, it demanded she be the one to fill it. So groggily the fair youth rose and walked directly out of the bush, following the hidden little path she made from hours of walking back and forth across the path. As if on cue, a large hare bounded across the field, a few yards from where she was. Instinct took over her little frame, quite visibly, for she went from standing up right, to nearly flat across the ground, and down wind from the large bunny. Leila focused on the prey, and inched along, trying her hardest to submerge her pale pelt in the tall, thick grasses. As her soft pads refused to make any noise, and the soft grass said nothing, the little girl waited until she was right behind the chocolate shaded mammal, then reared up, aimed, and paralyzed it by striking it's spine with her hard fore limbs. With a barely audible crunch to let her know she was successful, the 6 month old beauty began to eat her meal, unaware of anyone who could have seen what had just happened. The young Praetor watched from a distance as his new ward attacked a hare and killed it and then began eating it. Silver eyes darkened as he watched, she was now six months old, a Juvenile and no longer a pup and he expected all Juveniles to serve the pack. If she was old enough to hunt, then she would first hunt for the pack even if she was starving. He himself had been hungry the whole time he was growing up and he didn't see the problem with it. She would have to learn if she wished to stay with them. Paarthurnax may have a different view with it but he was the Alpha and for now he made all the decisions. She was not yet Legatus and although she was his mate, she wasn't the Alphess yet. He strode forward, as silent as his nickname suggested and moved swiftly. It wasn't long before he arrived at her side, attempting to grasp her scruff between his jaws and move her backwards from her meal. First they would have to talk about the rules and laws here if she wished to stay, then they would start their lessons before anyone's hunger was sated. There were more important things to do that eat. "What were you doing just now?" RE: Spoken from the Heart - Leila - September 18, 2014 Leila yelped at the pull on her scruff, startled, but she soon went limp, being dragged away from her food. She wanted to protest, but she didn't even know who she was protesting to. After being sat back down, she had heard the voice she had recognized from the day she had become one of them. One of his. It was Shadow. "What were you doing just now?" She turned her tropical gaze to his silver one, lowering herself a bit, swishing her little soft tail lowly from side to side of her rump. She understood the words What, and Now, and the tone of his voice and his head's angle revealed that he had asked a question. About her feat. Was it a Bad? "I..find..up, down, No Breath food.", the hesitant girl responded as best she could with his English. Leila looked up at the platinumed wolf, wondering if she woulf get a Hurt for killing a bunny. His gaze still as cold as ice as he looked at her with steely silver eyes. "You mean you hunted a rabbit and ate it yourself without giving it to the pack first." he said in his trademark soft tone, usually edged with danger but it depended on how the Juvenile saw it. "You are no longer a puppy, you are a Juvenile now, iuventus." he said, slowly so she could hear all the words. "You are expected to first hunt for the whole pack, deposit it in one of the caches. Then only are you permitted to hunt for yourself." he concluded, gesturing as he spoke to make the point clear to Leila. “Capis" he said in his native tongue, knowing that she wouldn't understand but by the tilt of his head, she would. Others might think his ways were harsh but really it wasn't, he was lenient and extremely nice already. If she had been in Rome then she would be thin and starving by now, and if she didn't prove herself fast, she might find herself alone again. Although the possibility of that was slim, he would not hesitate to do that if she proved to only be a burden to them. "Do you understand?" he said in English and said it slowly, piercing platinum eyes fixed on the Juvenile. RE: Spoken from the Heart - Leila - September 18, 2014 "You mean you hunted a rabbit and ate it yourself without giving it to the pack first." , he said, with no indication of Happy. She had done a Bad. Called it. Leila looked between the rabbit, and Shadow, trying to pair his words together. "Sí... la familia es primera. Lo siento, Shadow." She thought 'pack' meant family, because she had never known what a real pack was. After all, she did have no one else after the flood. Leila softly padded over to the hare, it with a shredded leg she desperately wanted to finish, but instead of satisfying her stomach, she picked up the rabbit, and placed it at Shadow's paws. ".., iuventus." That caught her ear. It sounded like 'joven' which meant 'young'. "You are expected to first hunt for the whole pack, deposit it in one of the caches. Then only are you permitted to hunt for yourself." Watching him make different indications and iconic gestures helped Leila get a gist of what her leader was saying. No food for her. Family first. Food for her next. "Capris," 'Understand', which was 'comprende' in spanish. She nodded her fluffy little white head, and then he proceeded to ask her again, in English. "I..understand? ", she said, with a light hilt of question in her voice for confirmation from the silver male that she had responded correctly. His expression however remained impassive as he moved the rabbit gently off himself and onto the grassy ground before returning his steely stare to the Juvenile. "I..understand? ",. He nodded, ears swiveling around for a moment. "Yes, you understand what I'm talking about." he said firmly before lifting a paw and gently patting his ward's head. A faint smile drifted briefly over his silver features as his paw gracefully landed on the grass again, however the stern look in his eyes told her to remain quiet as he spoke. He might be strict but he was firm and fair and he wasn't swayed easily and to him, that made a good teacher. At least he didn't beat her for doing things wrong like his father used to do to him, he held by a wince at the thought, the scars littered underneath his pelt suddenly stinging at the simple memory where Aku's fangs sank into his flesh by his left flank. "I told you I'll teach you English and I'll start our first lesson now, and after that we'll hunt for the pack and ourselves but not before. If I catch you eating and hunting for yourself before the pack, I will chase you away." he said firmly, the glint in his eye appearing again. He probably wouldn't chase her away, just assign her a bunch of duties but she didn't know that. RE: Spoken from the Heart - Leila - September 19, 2014 Was that a Happy she saw on the massive Shadow who was No Smile all the time? Leila was sure it was her hunger that made her imagine the illusion. After he confirmed she had spoken correctly, her tail wagged, happy at the light affirmation, and rewarding gesture of the pat. The little pale beauty had a hit more determination for her lessons now that the tension had been eased, and she had been reassured that she would get no Hurts. "I told you I'll teach you English and I'll start our first lesson now, and after that we'll hunt for the pack and ourselves but not before. If I catch you eating and hunting for yourself before the pack, I will chase you away." softly but unfalteringly spoke the silver mentor. 'English, lesson, we, hunt, pack, not, eat, you, chase and away' were the words she picked up. Leila stared at him, trying to piece the fragments together. "English teach first? Hunt.." she searched her mind for a word that could substitute for 'Segundo' which meant 'second', and she threw the only words she knew, together, trying not to keep her teacher waiting long. "..two?..I eat, you no Happy, I away. Family first. " She placed her little white paw on the ground, making a pawprint, not all that visible. " I understand", she replied, a bit more comfortable with the term he had presented her with before. Family first. " he shook his head. "No, english lesson first, hunting second, pack first. Third, eating." he said with a small smile on his face. "Now, say something, a sentence in english and I'll correct you. Or are there any terms that you wish to know?" he said, his tone softening as his gaze warmed slightly although it still looked like a piece of carved ice. His platinum gaze had only ever truly softened around his siblings and now Paarthurnax. He had hunted this morning and filled one of the pack's cache so he leaned down to tear at the hare's flank and began chewing, he was hungry after patrolling his pack's borders, remarking them and making sure everyone was safe. At least Enya was working fine and didn't seem to want to escape. Good. If she did he would think of the most painful punishment for her as she left this world for Tartarus. RE: Spoken from the Heart - Leila - September 20, 2014 He wanted english from her. An entire sentence. This made the little girl shrink. An whole sentence? She was nervous, making her forget about her hunger, even as her teacher ate what she had caught. She tried not to show her anxiety, though her voice betrayed her. "Eh...A ..stick..is a little..tree?" She didn't know if she said tree correctly, and almost slipped and said madera. She gazed up at the giant grayscaled hessian before her, as he chewed upon her hare. She did want to learn, and she showed her desire through tail wagging. Gently he dipped his head downwards and pulled it away from her, digging a hole with a paw and burying the prey before looking at his ward with stern silver eyes. "Concentrate first, Leila." he said softly, a faint smile gracing his features as he spoke again. "Good. Now try another sentence, do you know how to introduce yourself?" He didn't let her answer. "My name is Shadow." he said slowly, making sure she knew how to pronounce it. "Now your turn, you say 'My name is Leila.'" he paused, waiting for her to say the words while his jaws clamped down on the rabbit leg he had been eating and swallowed it. RE: Spoken from the Heart - Leila - September 22, 2014 (Im sorry, I edited it, the last post I did, I didnt mean to say she ate the hare. xD) Leila listened intently, even scooting a bit closer as he slowly said the words she was to start off with. " My name is Shadow." he said with the tone in his voice that he intended for her to repeat. He wanted the same from her. Her turn. " Mi nombre es Leila. " Taking a deep breath, the little lady tried to turn it to his English. "My..name is..Leila." The color conflict coated girl looked up at him, trusting that Shadow wouldn't steer her wrong. RE: Spoken from the Heart - Shadow - September 23, 2014 "My..name is..Leila." His eyes scanned briefly over her tiny form before nodding slowly. His mind slowly drifted off to other things as he gazed at Leila and waited, patience running through his veins. That was rare. RE: Spoken from the Heart - Leila - September 23, 2014 Her little white jaw was incapable of hitting the grassy knolls floor, but it desperately tried. Treinta veces?! Leila steeled her little short created will, having her determination as back up. Only stumbling a bit on the first few tries, the confirmation she had received earlier on her first try had given her the perseverance to continue, her little pink and black nose twitching with every pronunciation of the words she was to say. 30 times, said and done, each time better than the last. RE: Spoken from the Heart - Shadow - September 24, 2014 He smiled as she finished speaking and nodded approvingly.
RE: Spoken from the Heart - Leila - September 25, 2014 "El perro se comió el pollo. El gato bebía leche. La piedra se quedó quieto." the dainty little girl spoke in her language, first picking the sentences she chose to attempt to decipher. "The..dog ate chicken. The cat drank milk. The sat stone..still? " She felt the first two sentences fit together pretty decent for her first try, but the third confused her a bit, causing a tiny whine of frustration to come from her tiny snout. RE: Spoken from the Heart - Shadow - October 07, 2014 Shall we fade off?
"The stone sat still." he corrected gently, though his gaze was stern. "Your English is improving, Leila. We will end this lesson and hunt for the pack, then we shall eat. How does that sound to you?" he smiled and tilted his head as he waited for her answer. If taught well, she would become a perfect soldier, a perfect member for the pack but if not, well she could stay. After all nobody was truly perfect were they? RE: Spoken from the Heart - Leila - October 15, 2014 (Yea, im gonna change her prof a bit, grow her up. Shes like, a year now, I think. xD) Leila stared at the gentle giant. He reminded her so much of her father, though the colloration of color of his fur was highly different, she still saw the Tall man as him. This made it a bit easier to deal with the discipline and comply with the rules. Being at the mercy of such an admirable wolf, caused her joy. "The stone sat still.", the dainty beauty agreed. At the mention of the well awaited food, the husky jumped up and down, her exuberance apparent at the subject. "Si, si! Yes, hunt!" The bi colored pup bounded forward, turning back, and repeating the process, each step turning back to see if her mentor was following. |
