There is a vortex of fate all around us. - Ciri - June 10, 2021

For @Hypnos

Ciri's visit to the coast was a brief one, for when her thoughts began to darken she decided to take her leave. She was a little reluctant to, naturally, for her beach conjured in childish imagination was meant to symbolise joy, contentment. Those were not things her heart found there, for its wounds were too new and too raw to see any good in the world.

Her attention turned toward the mountain range on which she'd been born, though Ciri did not feel any great attachment. They were just rocks: lonely, but strong. Solid. She wondered if her father had returned to them after relinquishing his claim on Nova Peak, and figured it made most sense to begin her search for him there.

On the lower reaches of Sunspire, the sudden scent of blood roused a forgotten need: to feed. It'd been several long days since she'd eaten and Ciri felt the hollow ache in her stomach as she set about roaming through the bushes in search of the source.

RE: There is a vortex of fate all around us. - Hypnos - June 10, 2021

Hypnos had lost Eldritch, and now he aimlessly roamed.

He had noticed that she had left a few days prior. From what he could tell, he was alone in Blackfeather Woods. The scents of Ivory Rose's members were beginning to fade, leaving him without the stability and familiarity that he had desperately clung to. Without them, especially Eldritch, Hypnos was lost. Although a part of him blamed her for his misgivings, he couldn't deny the sense of normalcy that she had given him.

The journey between the plains and the mountain's base had been a blur. From the fire, he had meandered west, following the bloodied trail of a wolf he did not know. While he wasn't exactly sure where they lead, it was the most promising lead he had at the time.

As he picked his way along, his eyes trained to the path. The prints faded in and out of existence, but Hypnos didn't think twice about it. He overlooked Ciri up ahead, but what he could smell was the blood that came from the kill at her paws. He assumed that it came from the path underfoot, indicating that he was closer to where he was being led.

RE: There is a vortex of fate all around us. - Ciri - June 10, 2021

Her nose, driven by the grumbling of her gut, was quick to find a wet streak of crimson across the surface of a jagged rock. Ciri hovered her muzzle over the bright fluid, sniffed obsessively, and snaked her tongue past her lips to taste.

She lifted her head to glance around, searching for any further sign of a struggle, and located a trail of red droplets leading away from the scene. Ciri was hot on the trail, tongue lolling over her lower jaw in anticipation. By the time she found her intended prey, a squirrel, another creature had beat her.

The russet vixen swung it's bloodied snout toward the intruder and spit in her direction, but the dark wolf bore her own fangs in response. She prowled forward and lashed her tail upward, aiming to intimidate - and it worked. The fox made a speedy departure, leaving the remains of its meal, and the yearling Ostrega gathered it into her mouth as fast as she could.

It might've been the most divine thing she'd ever tasted, and her yellow eyes closed briefly to savour the sweet, metallic flavour. When she opened them again, they found the raven form of one of her own kind - a stranger. Ciri's hackles pricked atop her narrow shoulders at once and she tightly gripped the squirrel's ribcage between her teeth, upper lip curled defensively in the rogue's direction. Not wanting to give him a single opportunity to steal her morsel, she loped off to feed in peace.
