impermanence - Amekaze - September 25, 2014 so the location on this is kinda vague. somewhere between the wetlands and noctisardor bypass. set after her thread in emberwoods (so probably backdated a smidge if you're that particular about it).

She had left the Sunspire for what felt like a long time now, but not without ensuring that all would be covered in her absence. Ame had left them in good hands -- instructing that their borders be minded and that they be excessively suspicious of cougar activity judging by the Vale's tracks Summer and Jace reported. However she was still eager to get back to them so she rested less to travel more. But if only she could find answers. They seemed elusive, and painfully so. While she was at a growing ease at the top of the Sunspire's ranks, it did not feel wholly right with Ferdie just... gone. Yet, if she did find him, she was beginning to dread what would await.. The wetlands were just a little ways south -- probably not too far. With the winds in her favor, she could smell them subtly on the breeze. Yet, this area was crisscrossed with wolf scents and many of which were unfamiliar. She pressed onward still, curious but disappointed to not find Ferdie among them, even a faded, old scent.. Soon, her nose would aim back towards the Sunspire, but determinedly and despite the weight of fatigue, she willed herself to keep going. A little further. A few more hours (until dusk, at the very least). Anything. She had to make sure she was thorough, and traveled with her muzzle low, ears pricked, and gait a sweeping trot across the valley's expanse. RE: impermanence - Scimitar - September 25, 2014 The Creek was silent for the moment -- a rare event that had spurned Scimitar's exploring boots on and out the door if only for a momentary lapse of solitude. The pack seemed disconnected to him now -- the newcomers were not as settled as previous members had been, and he found it harder and harder to steer his direction from Neverwinter Forest, where his body cried for him to go. If it were not for Bazi and Kaskara, he likely would have left eons ago. But his responsibility also stagnated this idea, and so he scouted the nearby areas, never leaving the valley he had come to call home. Since his brief interlude with the silver male, Scimitar had seen hide nor tail of him, which better suited the regal. It was likely he had found some other pack to smirk at -- as long as he stayed far away from the Creek wolves. What was unexpected with his newfound distaste for the silver male was the scent of the Sunspire so steadily nearby. The shaky truce had held up thus far, neither group bothering the other.. and now his eyes fell upon the vaguely familiar form of a she-wolf he had known to have once been in Creek ranks, but had never conversed with her prior. Hesitance stilled him, and Scimitar allowed his tongue to sweep across his lips in quiet contemplation to whether he approach, or simply ignore her and continue on his way. He didn't trust turning his back on a Sunspire wolf. Or, maybe she was thinking too deeply about justifying this. All too often, this searching felt pointless without a set trail to follow or even any true hint to go on. What little they had found already led straight to a dead end. But she was fairly preoccupied by the scents at hand. They were a curious mixture of many unknowns but when something more distinct and familiar touched her senses, she was quick into focus. The Creek was difficult to miss. She snorted softly at this realization, and not too long after, she spied the variegated wolf a short distance away. She too slowed to a stop and stared outright. The Creek wolves were not a lot she could trust, and the feeling was mutual. Ame tilted her head and questioned him silently. Swiftcurrent had not become one of her concerns since rising to the lead of the Sunspire, and she had since been disconnected from them. Their strength, and how they fared beneath Bazi's leadership, was an unknown variable. She was just glad they had stayed off her mountain finally. RE: impermanence - Scimitar - October 03, 2014 Amekaze had been an enigma to him, if only because the two had never conversed before, despite briefly sharing the title of pack mate to one another. She had been quick to follow Ferdie and Jace, and he had been too indifferent to the entire situation at first to truly care only except for maintaining hunting grounds and space from the rival pack. They had settled too close for comfort, and yet after everything, they had at least managed to keep distance. His eyes swept over her briefly, offering nothing in return to the simple greeting spare the a slight tip of his muzzle in acknowledgement. She questioned him – but thus far the situation seemed harmless enough. “Winter is coming and I want to scout out the lands for resources.” There was a small pause, his eyes pointedly regarding her then. If she was questioning his presence, he could to. “And you?” Perhaps, under very different circumstances, the two would have been formidable pack mates. Now, they simply squared off as suspicion strangers, treading lightly around the more touchy subject that kept them both on the edge of distrust. RE: impermanence - Amekaze - October 06, 2014 <style type="text/css">.ame {margin:auto; width:530px; text-align:justify;font-size:11px;} .ame q {color:#7a2638; font-family:georgia;font-weight:bold;letter-spacing:1.3px;} .ame p {margin:0px;text-indent:30px;}</style> With history between them at a distance at best, much of how she regarded him was based on the shaky grounds between their packs. Truthfully, for him personally, all she knew was that he was formidable enough to nearly cripple Jace and that his loyalty evidently ran deep enough to keep him at the Creek longer than many. He'd seemed a serious, but effective, sort to her.
She did not yet know if the Creek knew of Ferdie's disappearance and carefully watching him, she looked for any hints. RE: impermanence - Scimitar - November 02, 2014 The conversation was not something he was overly interested in -- not because Amekaze was dull, but only because it seemed to be a wasted moment. The cinnamon male cared little about those outside of his pack and family, and this brief interlude would prove to be no different. Unless the Sunspire wolves were expecting to come further down from their mountain to hunt in the winter, which was implied as the swarthy female stated she was more or less doing the same. "Perhaps for the sake of maintaining the shaky truce that is in place between our packs, we could agree to steer away from hunting areas that may overlap?" He did not fear the Sunspire -- in fact, he felt that Swiftcurrent Creek was a force to be reckoned with.. But that did not mean he wanted his pack mates injured when it could be avoided. Fox's war was no longer their war. RE: impermanence - Amekaze - November 03, 2014 <style type="text/css">.ame {margin:auto; width:530px; text-align:justify;font-size:11px;} .ame q {color:#7a2638; font-family:georgia;font-weight:bold;letter-spacing:1.3px;} .ame p {margin:0px;text-indent:30px;}</style> She was not quick to reveal much to a wolf of the Creek, so she was keeping it trivial at best. Even mentioning her search had pressed the invisible boundary, but when he mentioned the shaky truce, her ears straightened. They rarely traipsed beyond Mount Apikuni and even voyages into the wetlands were particularly scarce. At their base they had the Vale, which to her was plenty valuable, and then of course the foothills towards the west and southwest. Then of course, the Creek had its eastern stretches of lands -- a meadow, a lakeside, so on, with wetlands north of their namesake. RE: impermanence - Scimitar - November 10, 2014 And so a tentative discussion began on upcoming hunt grounds for winter—while any of the territories were neutral, Scimitar still desired to steer clear of a fight with The Sunspire wolves. The less resources and time they wasted on them, the better – and vice versa. “Wapun Meadow is close to us and is a location of choice for many,” he decided then, knowing it easier for the wolves of Swiftcurrent Creek to reach the area than The Sunspire, if only because the wolves of the Creek did not have heights to climb and descend. “Duck Lake as well.” He silenced then, waiting to see what she had to say of this – after all, his true hope was the lands he currently live din would be enough to sustain by themselves alone.. but if the herds branched off, hopefully they did not slip too close to the foothills of the mountains, for neither pack leader would let their members starve. Thus was the reason the Creek wolves held discomfort at how close the mountain wolves had settled. RE: impermanence - Amekaze - November 12, 2014 <style type="text/css">.ame {margin:auto; width:530px; text-align:justify;font-size:11px;} .ame q {color:#7a2638; font-family:georgia;font-weight:bold;letter-spacing:1.3px;} .ame p {margin:0px;text-indent:30px;}</style> Dealings with Fox in the past had led her to expect something worse. But, Scimitar answered rather concisely to her satisfaction. He was not trying to keep them away from everything between here and there, as Fox surely would have. Instead, he offered specific places and none were ones that were particularly close to the mountain anyway. She preferred Northstar Vale and the dipping valley just southeast of the Sunspire, then after that, terrain more towards Kintla Flatlands instead of in the direction of the Creek. Noting them both, she nodded; these were clear terms she could respect and would relay to her wolves. RE: impermanence - Scimitar - November 18, 2014 Her question was interesting – he could only assume the Sunspire would not traverse to the wetlands as it resided so close to the Creek, but, then again.. one never knew. “It is less than favorable and would remain a last option,” he decided then, realizing only then that he had certainly given full insight to the lands where Swiftcurrent Creek might be hunting this year.. and while his swarthy companion had certainly been quick to ask questions, she had kept her own information withdrawn. “What of the Sunspire?” Tit for tat – that, and he could then relay the information to his members to better keep them from straying closer to any Sunspire wolf. The last thing he desired was for the tension to break loose again – especially if it was done by a newcomer who did not know the circumstances of the pack. RE: impermanence - Amekaze - November 21, 2014 <style type="text/css">.ame {margin:auto; width:530px; text-align:justify;font-size:11px;} .ame q {color:#7a2638; font-family:georgia;font-weight:bold;letter-spacing:1.3px;} .ame p {margin:0px;text-indent:30px;}</style> She nodded slowly. There was a sharp reluctance to say too much about why she was interested in the wetlands, and it was not necessarily to have her pack hunt there for prey. She mainly wanted access to the plants and herbs there, so took his answer as needed. It would be a place visited only when necessary, and done with discretion. When he turned the question back onto her, she shifted her weight but wasted little time supplying an answer despite her reservations. But of course, this was not the extent of it. With the next nearest pack in the foothills being a good distance away, she preferred to exercise those freedoms, instead of pressure the boundaries towards the east with the Creek. RE: impermanence - Scimitar - December 04, 2014 He gave a nod to the lissome female – her points of interest were certainly beneficial to the pack, and in turn, affected the Creek very little. “I will let my comrades know,” he murmured in return, offering no more details on the matter of his pack or the recent shifts that had occurred. Thus far, Jace had been the only one to even inform him of Ferdie’s disappearance – something that, despite his dislike of the male, he was compelled to be grateful for, should the fool ever try to lay a paw on his pack members.. or, more importantly, Bazi. “We are interested in maintaining our truce.” It was a simple statement – but one he felt clarified the entirety of the topic. With a slight dip of his muzzle, the male gave a gentle shake of his pelt now, taking a few paces away from the female. It was time to cut this conversation loose now – he had information he deemed useful, and at the very least, the diplomacy of the Sunspire proved their own desire to keep a neutral stance between the two packs. RE: impermanence - Amekaze - December 05, 2014 <style type="text/css">.ame {margin:auto; width:530px; text-align:justify;font-size:11px;} .ame q {color:#7a2638; font-family:georgia;font-weight:bold;letter-spacing:1.3px;} .ame p {margin:0px;text-indent:30px;}</style> She swept her muzzle in a quick, curt nod. The word would travel back with her as well, and efforts would be in place to inform newcomers of it. As the months passed, and wolves came and went, it seemed the original conflict with the Creek grew further from focus. Even so, she still made mention of it to new wolves just for their own good.. especially since she did not know how all Creek wolves would behave when faced with one of the Spire.
Nevertheless, she chuffed a quick farewell, and took to motion to leave Scimitar to his own devices. This encounter had run its course and she was finished. She would loop a path northward for a little while longer before turning back towards her peak. RE: impermanence - Scimitar - December 09, 2014 With the interlude more or less settled, the swarthy female offered a curt goodbye – not that he expected anything more grand. With a nod of his own, the cinnamon wolf remained for a few more stolen moments, watching her go. It wasn’t as if he expected her to turn around the moment his back was to her and attack – but his thoughts were wistful as he considered the possibilities of Ferdie missing. Shaking his muzzle to withdraw from the quiet moment, his own creamy paws began to lumber forward, his explorations continuing. He wasn’t quite ready to return to the Creek, and it had been awhile since he had breathed the air outside of its borders. |
