Museum victories, everyday - Bridget - July 03, 2021

this can be brief! Mostly for timeline sake - she's here to deliver news that she's got Towhee over in haunted forest ^^

As promised, Bridget set out as soon as dawn broke the following day. She'd managed to catch a few z's luckily, but she pushed her pace a little past usual comfortable travel. She didn't want to be gone long.

She took a moment to collect herself on the border, gathering her breath before loosing a howl to let anyone know she was here. She was lucky she'd found the place, but @Towhee had described it fairly well and once you knew the shape it was a little hard to miss.

She shifted impatiently as she waited. As soon as someone came, she'd deliver her news and then bounce.

When someone called on the border and indicated they had news, Fennec was there immediately. She had to leave Killdeer alone, but that didn't stop her. He was asleep, thankfully, and she ran quick as she could to where the summons had come from, heart in her throat. Did they find her younger sister? Or was this about her mom?

She barked as she neared the border, then stopped, waiting... until an answering, slightly confused response indicated where she needed to go. Without wasting any time she jogged straight for the strange woman and waited, expectantly, for whatever message she had.

Someone answered, but asked for clarification on where she was before they arrived. Bridget watched with confusion as they came closer, but the answer became immediately clear. This wolf was blind.

Towhee hadn't mentioned a blind wolf when she'd spoken, but this might be another packmate. Either way, she was sure they could carry a message. Hey. My name is Bridget. I'm here to let you know that Towhee is in the woods south of here, recovering. She didn't bail on you all, but she got a pretty nasty snake bite and I've been helping her out in the meantime. It'll be a little longer before she can travel, but I'll have her home as soon as she can be.

It was unnerving, the way she stared. Bridget wondered how much she could see, because the eyes didn't seem to focus on her or really anything. It was both hard to look at and hard to look away from; she was glad the woman couldn't see her expression. I need to get back there. Can you take that message? To someone named Fennec, or a Rue?

It was news she wanted, though of the two, a part of her hoped it would be in regards to the pup. Her mom was going to freak when she got back and found out her daughter was mia.

All of that fled her mind immediately when she heard that her mom was recovering. Immediately she honed in on that, almost accusingly. Is she okay?! What do you mean, as soon as she can?

I'm Fennec. I can take the message, but you're going to tell me more. What's wrong with her? Her voice was sharp and she took a step forward, ears intently listening. She didn't know the first thing about this wolf and definitely didn't trust that she was any kind of qualified if her mom was hurt. She was already considering how long it might be before Bronco returned. Then she could come along and find out for herself.

Bridget's brow furrowed at this wolf's (Fennec, turns out) tone.  She was impatient to get out of here and apparently this wolf was Towhee's daughter, so sure, she was bound to be a little stressed.  She didn't like the whole "bite the messenger" impulse though.

Look, Oh, shit.  She had to bite her tongue not to laugh (entirely inappropriately) at the unintentional pun.  It was poisonous.  I got her through the worst of it, alright?  But she shouldn't be traveling until the bite looks better and she said no one needs to come there.  Don't snap my nose off.

She gave Fennec a slightly exasperated look that she wouldn't be able to see, then took a step back.  She had delivered on the message she needed to, but now she needed to get back.

If they had the bodies to spare she would never have taken this wolf's words at face value but they had no other choice. Fennec gritted her teeth but didn't shoot back what she wanted to.

Fine. Bring her home soon. Fennec's ire faded and was replaced with dread as she continued. And if you see a pup, my sister is missing. If you tell mom, make sure your ready for her to leave. You won't be able to stop her.

She delivered it flatly, voice belying the stress that coiled through her entire core. Towhee was injured, Tierra was gone, Reyes had been chased off... luckily they'd had a few new wolves join to hold things together but she wondered if it was enough.

Bridget was playing with the idea of having someone take a message to Brecheliant, but the second bit of news stopped her in her tracks. She froze, watching silently as Fennec walked away without so much as a goodbye.

So she got to be the one to break this news, or the one to decide to hide it from the mother? Remembering how Towhee had been about her kids so far, Bridget let out a violent fuck before turning and beginning the jog back to where she'd left her patient.

She had no idea what to even do with this, but the entire way, she kept her eyes and ears peeled for anything resembling a lost kid. This was not good.
