When Aventus returned to Moonglow, it was again with the bruin's stench of Ursus washed clean from his pelt by water and dust and crackling autumn grass. Absent too was the smell of Moonglow's warm stone and pine sap as a consequence of that, but he crossed the borders in the morning without hesitation and let his dark shoulder rub against the nearest tree. He had been gone only a few days. To follow the river and fish, he had said, and familiarize himself with the lands surrounding his new "home".
Thus did he return with a cutthroat trout clasped in his jaws, a tribute for the first Moonglow wolf he happened across. Aventus was loathe to waste his time getting to know them, but he had a part to play, and Arctos was a social and familiar sort of fellow. It would not do to remain reclusive. Besides, he was still curious about Tuur and everything leading up to the boy's punishment in front of the pack. He needed to learn more.
