A five star hotel will put candy bars in your butt - Aventus - November 19, 2021 Set about a week after Moonglow leaves and on the outskirts of their territory, not within!
Aventus remembered what Merrick had said, but he just could not let his sire wander around Moonglow half-mad in his search for Nyra. He could not be assured that his father would restrain himself if he found the woman, and no matter how close to dead she should have been, he could not be assured that she would not find some way to mortally wound Merrick either. She was not above using witchcraft. Nothing else could explain her escape. So he went to Moonglow in the early dawn while stars still glimmered over the cold peak of Silvertip. He went with the intention of speaking with one of their leaders. But when he arrived, it was to find their fading scents winding away from the spine and the borders already weakening. Dread dropped into Aventus' belly like a lead weight. He dallied for too long. How could he possibly tell Merrick that just as they were about to close in on Nyra, Moonglow had left? He no longer doubted that the Saints bitch was with them. He had no proof of it, only the fervent belief of the truly desperate. If she was not with Moonglow, that meant she was well out of their reach by now, and Aventus could not allow her to escape. That was not an option. So she must be with them. Ursus would need to follow, but the scents were scattered and old; he could track them only a short distance before coming upon a stream where the already faint trail went cold. He would not find it again. Aventus struck at the ground in frustration, yelping softly when one nail caught on a rock and tore, wrenching his toe in the process. Grinding his teeth together, Aventus turned and limped back home. |
