Let Me Feel Your Heartbeat - Isari - November 23, 2021 The wolfess had been traveling, not that such information should come as a shock. Isari had followed the river and now, she had found a large cluster a fish; a meal. The girl dropped into a low crouch, as close to the ground as she could go, and slowly crept closer to the bank. She knew that it wasn’t required, this step of over-calculated foot placement as she would be plenty fast enough to just snap her jaws in the water and, most likely, still get a meal. Even so, Isari was aware there was also an off chance that the fish would get spooked and swim away before she could grab one. The wolfess really didn’t want to deal with that kind of disappointment. Another step, and another, and another and she was crouching at the edge of the bank. Isari stared carefully into the glistening water, ripples cutting across her reflection like they thought that if they fought hard enough she would keep her muzzle out of their space. She didn’t. Isari held her breath with ease as she threw her head into the water and let her jaw fall open and closed around an unsuspecting victim. The wolfess tugged her catch away from the bank, ending its life fully and watched with unfaltering poise as the other fish scattered as if they had been the ones to be snuffed out like a flickering candle wick. Quite pathetic. — RE: Let Me Feel Your Heartbeat - RIP Selena - November 23, 2021 New to these lands, but now maybe not the newest as she had been here for a few days and did in fact catch herself an oyster, Selena proudly strut along the river banks of her newly claimed home. She was, at this point, a regular seafaring lass (she liked to think). The black glimpse noted the overcast ahead as she did the day before and the day before that, and the day before that. So gloomy in these rocky beaches, nothing like the shores to the south. No matter, she enjoyed being on her own. Selena had already met a new friend, Dash. He was a sweet gentleman and a bit older than her. She wouldn't say it herself, no no... but she did kind of latch onto the loner immediately when he helped pull that oyster out of the pool. The yearling greatly appreciated the help with the meal and took the win silently as her own. This living alone stuff wasn't so bad, but oysters sure were. Ahead there was a commotion. A splash, rustling of earth and then the content sound of someone feasting on a well-deserved meal. It took no time for her black lifeless eyes to spot the hunter ahead. Ah, so this wolf had caught a fish. Well, being a fisherman herself she could totally relate to the tiring and grueling effort it took to play that patient game. After all, she did it one whole time. That was enough for her to know. "Hi!" The loner called to the other with a good natured woof, completely ignoring her first poor encounter with a stranger who had also been hunting. The man had left her with still healing wounds that stung as they stretched with her movements. Selena at least understood she needed to keep a respectable distance though and stopped just a few wolf-lengths away from the golden woman near the bank. "Don't mean to intrude or anything, but I just saw you were fishing and wanted to know if you'd be alright if I joined?" It looked like there were plenty of fish left that began to gather back to the spot where their companion had been plucked from the water. Again, and she couldn't stress this enough, the oyster was not good. She needed more. Isari - Isari - November 23, 2021 The wolfess’ plan had been simple; get food, eat previously mentioned food, find shelter, and sleep. Easy. Simple. Perfect. So, of course, when Isari heard footsteps and a light woof from another, her immediate reaction was: oh dear god. Still, she drew her head up and gave the approaching wolf a thorough scan. She looked nice enough. Nice enough to convince Isari that, if it came down to it, she could come out on top. The wolfess listened carefully to the other’s words, studying everything from mannerisms and tone to word choice. Isari still came to the same conclusion, this wolf would be too passive to start anything Isari couldn’t finish. With a tilt of her head and a off-put huff Isari decided to push her company a little further. “Fine,” she sent a wave of her paw towards the riverbank, “let’s see what you’ve got.” It was a challenge. Isari was well aware of how it sounded. After all, that’s how she meant it. The wolfess let herself settle once more on the ground and took another bite of her well-earned meal. It was a challenge. Isari knew it. And she also knew that there was a good chance she’d find an awful lot of entertainment from just watching. —- RE: Let Me Feel Your Heartbeat - RIP Selena - November 24, 2021 The woman seemed slightly annoyed at her for intruding during meal time, so Selena quickly adjusted her demeanor. Her tail was now just a low polite wag and her head dipped slightly, remembering the last stranger she pissed off. "Alright." It took everything in her not to slinky to the bank on her belly. This was a challenge, even she could sense it in the stranger's words. She fished once. Once. Now she was going to most likely make a fool of herself. The shadow gazed at her wavering reflection in the water for a moment, then looked back to the wolf with the prize she desired. "So let's say I had this friend... who has never caught a fish before. What advice would you give them?" It was obviously her, she said it as a joke to be taken but also in hopes this would take some of the pressure off of her to preform perfectly. Selena knew if she were to just go for it she would fall face first into the water and humiliate herself. Might as well just get right to it and suggest she was rubbish at it anyway with a smile. RE: Let Me Feel Your Heartbeat - Isari - November 25, 2021 Isari could pinpoint the exact moment the other wolf had clocked in on her reaction; it was almost like her company was ducking under a low-hanging branch the way she folded into herself, playing limbo for a chance of some kind of symbiotic relationship. Good, Isari thought, let her fear me. The wolfess also noted the way the girl hesitated, the girl's walk towards the bank looked as if she was imagining an execution block in front of her rather than a measly river. Isari was just barely able to stop herself from rolling her eyes when the other turned back to look at her, eyes glancing quickly to her catch and before moving up to meet Isari's eyes. Two thoughts came to mind immediately: 1. God, had this girl ever even fished once before? 2. When was the last time she was able to eat? Then, when the wolf asked for advice (for a 'friend', no less), Isari wasn't able to stop an amused huff from tumbling out of her mouth. "I would tell your 'friend' to figure it out," the wolfess grumped with a raised brow. "Perhaps even try their luck with begging at some pack's border." Even so, Isari hauled herself up and away from her nearly-gone meal and sauntered over to sit gently beside the girl. This wolf won't survive another week on her own if she can't even catch herself a simple meal like this. "Those are your target choices. Pick one; quickly and quietly, this isn't an invitation for conversation," Isari instructed with a subtle nod of her head in the direction of the slimy water-goers, "then just get it. Doesn't matter how. If you're faster with your paws try picking one closer to the edge and shoving it against the wall, might slip away or it might not. If you think your mouth is your best bet, try that. Just aim right and sink your teeth into the moron." Of course, Isari was still Isari and accompanied nearly every sentence with a sigh, as if the punctuation itself was punching them from her lungs. I could be doing so many things other than this. ---- RE: Let Me Feel Your Heartbeat - RIP Selena - December 03, 2021 At the very least she got an amused huff from the woman and after Selena was sure she was asking the wrong wolf for help, the stranger took leave from her front row seat to give some advice. Grateful for it, the fresh loner gave a gentle side smile as the mentor took position on her side. The slight shadow dare not speak as she was afraid this may alert her prey. It would be just her luck to fail before she even tried. Quickly and quietly. She was good at that, never a fighter or one to be confrontational but instead able to fly under the radar and move in silence. She was a drone that could collect intel from almost anyone. Her looming figure so still with nearly black eyes, from under the water would look nothing like a predator but instead an inanimate object. Then, she found a moron. Striking with precision that surprised even her for a moment, Selena dove for her target. Her jaws snapped a few times as she kept her eyes shut, her snout navigating as fish tails splashed water in her face. Shortly, her teeth pierced a firm fleshy fish and the wiggling started to jostle her head a bit from side to side. The girl pulled her thrashing kill from the river and for a moment rushing water blurred her vision, but cleared so that she could focus back on the woman. Selena was unable to speak as her kill dangled from her mouth, holding onto a little bit of life while the thrashing became more of just small wiggles. She feared setting it down before it died and watching her prize flop back into the water for an epic escape. "Gah eht!" Translation: Got it! |
