Days spent with only his own thoughts for company and little else, left Mou withering as he roamed. He did not eat and rarely was at peace enough for sleep; his eyes were red-rimmed, or rather eye, but it felt the same. His skin was stretched taut across his stooped figure. His coat was ragged and stained off-white, closer to a brown-butter shade, as he had spent all of his energy dragging his heels towards the edge of the world.

There, he stood before the sea.

His mind was on what lay under it; what goodness he had found after he had been cast from the world, years ago. He thought about how cold it must feel to stand on these rocks for anyone else but him. How he felt nothing, except the growing concept of peace, as he tipped his nose over the edge.

There was no hesitation as Mou reached in to the dark, to the drumming of the tide against the stones. His breath gasped out of his lungs as he made the plunge and went head-over-tail. The sound of the wind howling as it passed his ears became a single clap as his body found the water, and awareness was thrust out of him.

A blissful end.
