and when the maidens stood around the altar - Erzulie - December 31, 2021 RE: and when the maidens stood around the altar - Dionysus - December 31, 2021 vague references to zeph and hyacinth's assumed death
dionysus was not the same boy he'd been before the storm. a newfound reticence had taken him, left him quiet and avoidant of his packmates. but erzulie, he knew, if only through his fathers' words. erzulie, he trusted. so when she called, he came, head and tail hanging low with misery. but his eyes were trusting and warm as he looked at her. a touch imploring, perhaps, too — as if seeking guidance. RE: and when the maidens stood around the altar - Coraline - January 04, 2022 by some stroke of luck, her mother's call caught her between trips. coraline reached erzulie on the heels of dionysus's arrival, and cast the boy a pitying look as she passed him to greet erzulie with a kiss to her cheek. she knew little of him or his fathers, but she knew that they were dead, and that life would be very bleak for the boy now. at least, that was what she imagined. but she thought very little about it. more important things filled her thoughts. maman, coraline said, anxiety in her voice. mireille...the words caught in her throat, and she couldn't finish. there was nothing she could say that her mother didn't already know. she just wanted to hear her say that it would be okay — that it wasn't as hopeless as it seemed. she wanted to hear it whether it was true or not. RE: and when the maidens stood around the altar - Erzulie - January 04, 2022 she had not seen zephyr or hyacinth since the storm.
erzulie smiled gently at dionysus, opening her embrace to him. coraline was there now, filled with misery. "mes petits," she said softly, offering them each a piece of cached fish. "dey will come back. storms by de sea be fierce. loud. it will take time for dem to find de way back." |
