he was a coward.

a boy, despite being on the cusp of manhood, who would likely always be that way. a cowardly boy, scared of his own shadow but even more scared of the shadows in the dark.

so when the horses of the apocalypse rode into rivenwood, Ålesund followed instinct. his cowardly, horribly flawed instinct. he fled into the forests, beyond the protection of rivenwood. he did not care if he was chased into the night. he did not care if everyone here thought him a coward too.

he was filled with such dreadful fear and terror. unable to think about others or consequences.
