mors umbra - Mori - January 17, 2022
The silence ghosted through the darkness of surrounding trees, only lit by the slow rise of the moon. The fog curled around their ankles, another thing masking their presence, their footsteps already muffled now turned to silent treads upon the dirt.
Their eyes were focused on the approaching water they had been wandering towards, slowly lowering their face to its surface to gather drink. Then, they’d be back to their silent walks through the fog and cold.

He did not know this one.
Not personally, at least. She was newer than Augur, he seemed to think. What path did she take? Hunter? Fighter? Either would be good, he thought. She was so...silent. Literally. Her steps made no sound. He had relied upon vision and scent — her perfume was...different, confusing, but unique enough to pluck her out — to find her.
His tail lifted with nothing more than mere display of hierarchy. A slow bubble of deep rumbling in his throat.
He wished to see what her reaction was to these things.

Mori raised their head, licking away water droplets. The wolf behind her was higher in the hierarchy, judging by the curl of his tail, and Mori ducked their head in submission.
Not happily mind you, but this was the way of wolves, they supposed.

She responded in the only way he could have asked for.
His posture loosened some, something more...familiar. Comfortable. Not trust, but acknowledgement that she knows where they stand between each other.
That was enough for him, for now.
