we're just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl, year after year - Maegi - January 21, 2022

for @Harka, and whoever looks after him - only post from me

Down the corridor she strode, hard, feeling every step—

She lifted her muzzle and turned the corner, and saw him, in his stupor—

oh

they've killed him. they've killed his soul

Maegi breathed deep and strode forward, lightly but quickly;

placed a gentle kiss upon his skull

I love you—

Seeing everything of theirs together

She memorized the pale, simple look of his forehead. The one closed eye.

I love you, she whispered.

Then fled, her body moving swiftly;

Jaes, let me see him again!!

only reply for me also

She watched from the side, silently, as Maegi said her farewell. Bridget would have liked to have offered the woman more than what she did, but she didn't blame her for leaving. Maybe she could help the man to find himself, but at this point, she wasn't sure. And Bridget wasn't sure if she'd have been able to stay if the tables were turned, if she was forced to watch someone she loved lash out and fail to recognize her.

Harka, then. Clearly, whoever Mou had been, he was gone. Until she found him maybe it was best to let that name die as well.

She didn't move any closer, just watched as the other woman left, not wanting to interfere with the heartbreaking goodbye.
