Each death comes with a set of reasons - Foxfur - February 16, 2022 The journey back from the mesa was a long and tired one. The warrior had been forced to bed down in a few places to avoid the harshest of the snowfall and to keep himself rested enough to continue the trek. Foxfur had not realized it before, but the clan that he served was a good distance from the mesa clan who had taken in Crowfeather. Once Foxfur had found the mountain, he knew that he could use it as a guiding post to lead him back to the wolves of the moon. He had trailed at the base of the tall stone structure for days before reaching the point where he could look out across the snowy land and see the rocky shelter that was Moonglow. Something in his heart was lifted by the sight of it. Foxfur thought of @Kukutux and how pleased he would be to see her again. The wisdom and kindness that she had shown were not easily forgotten by the tired man. Climbing to where he believed he could bed down within a few caves, Foxfur was too worn to have picked up the scent of the cougar. The lean figure paused at the mouth of the cave and stared out across the wilds with a thought-filled head. Would it have been all too bad to leave the Starsea behind and remain with Moonglow? The warrior did not have the time to make such a decision. The slice of the cougar’s claws was swift and practiced. She was a mother, and she was protecting two young cubs. Foxfur did not have the strength to fight, to try to spare his own life from the vicious teeth of his attacker. The warrior’s life was taken quickly enough that he did not feel much by the way of pain. Foxfur’s warm brown gaze remained open, trained to the heavens. His spirit rose to become a star. |
