spoken from on high for what it's worth - Antha - March 11, 2022

for @Ensio!

antha had always made it her business to know the land surrounding her home, and atautsikut was no different. she set off early, bidding a fond farewell to @Tessa and wishing her luck with the creation of a den for herb storage over the coming months.

by midday, the witch had found ripe hunting grounds right under the nose of the pack. beavers watched her approach, wary but apparently unfamiliar with wolves as of yet. they did not flee. antha kept her distance, watching them and their movements carefully. she took survey of their structures as well, watching attentively whenever one of the creatures dipped under the surface to retreat to its home. knowledge of their entrances and exits would lend an advantage to their hunts later on, surely.

they just looked so plump and fuzzy, she couldn't imagine not doing this.

and yet, as a mastiff whose dense body granted her the balanced of a rolling boulder, diesel likewise couldn't help but second guess herself as she took shaky steps upon the weird mound of branch and debris her breakfast had decided to make their home in.

step by shaking step, the dog climbed up onto the structure, hoping the animals she'd seen disappear within an entryway on top of it would be kind enough to leap into her jowls if she asked nice enough.

Not far behind, Ensio had inadvertently been on the trail of Antha. As he closed in and picked up her distinct scent, he picked up the pace. He was eager to get to know the mysterious she wolf more. Especially since she had taken a certain shine to Issorartuyok.

The sound of bodies splashing got his ears moving. And just as they dove under the water, out of sight, he caught a glimpse. Squat, furry creatures like big rodents. With tiny ears and a paddle like tail. He blinked, sliding up next to his pack mate quietly. Having grown up on the Glacier, the Duskfire had never seen a beaver before. "What...the heck are those?"

Then, they had a guest. A noisy, clumsy one, clambering atop the structure of branches, mud and moss. His icy eyes widened, scrutinizing her. What kind of creature was she? She looked somewhat wolfish in form, but different in so many other ways. "Hey!" He barked. "Cut it out. You'll scare 'em off for good."
