Survived this long without a ruler - Makatza - March 24, 2022

Time was a relative size to Makatza who stopped noticing it during winter. What she did notice was herself growing larger, bigger, stronger and prettier. She was almost a year old now and her pelt grew into adult fur shifting from the thick winter pelt she had grown over the last couple of months. Spring was definitely coming now and she had somehow survived her first winter, alone.

Lonesome? Quiet. Makatza was a creature who longed for attention, and that required people. People to serve her and do as she bid them, she craved it over the winter almost as much as she had craved food. But she had managed. She had wandered far when spring finally came and he sniffed the area for markings, but found none and avoided packs. She knew how that story went.

She didn't need some ruler to tell her about rules, regulations and what to do and what not to do. She had her ways and she would damn well do as she pleased. She did not like being told off, especially not as a teenager. She found herself walking into a green meadow and she gave herself time to rest there.

She was unaware that she was getting closer to taken territory, but her winter had given her nothing of excitement, only survival. It had hardened her alright, but had it taught her anything? Not about manners, that was for sure. Being alone only made her aggitated and starving for others to entertain her. She hoped spring would bring more fun than winter had.

the palace was less bright without crowfeather. belen had listlessly dragged herself into the meadow to search for him. it was not the farthest she had been from akashingo; in fact she thought of all adjacent lands as belonging to the pharaoh. but her heart was not in the search. she had told herself days ago that he would not come back. had she not told him how to leave? when to leave? she had betrayed them for him. and now she would never see him again. belen would not weep. she drew on, grim-faced and silent, halting at the sight of another. a girl, though perhaps taller than the fellahin herself, with a tawny nape that caught the sunlight. but the servant hardly wanted company. out here in the open she was bound to be seen, even as she trudged onward, not moving to catch the stranger's attention.

Wish upon a star and it shall grand you, your desires. Or something along those lines. Or, you know, you could just take whatever you wished for. Makatza was more for the last option. But sometimes she was lucky that things just turned up at her doorstep. Like today. She walked around in the meadow, minding her own business, when she sniffed out something when the wind shifted. She sniffed the air and turned her head in multiple directions to find the source.

She found a much smaller she-wolf than herself and was - surprised. How could one be so small? Tiny even. Makatza was not even fully grown and she still looked much bigger than the other. Makatza let her tail swing back and forth for a moment, wondering how to approach. Only for a moment though then she trotted onward toward her. She had no fear, she was pretty dang sure she could take on this girl if she turned out hostile.

"Hello." She didn't know, for obvious reasons, that the other was looking for someone, nor did she care too much if she had known. It was unlikely that Makatza ever would offer her help in looking for some lost poor soul. "I am Makatza." She almost added to it, but thought it was probably overwhelming information where she was from. She huffed lightly and sat down nearby the other female.

"What do you do for fun?" She was hoping for something exciting. Something that was ought to blow her mind.

the other approached and belen saw that despite the youth's size, she was quite young. and bold as well, given the way she came right to the akashingo wolf. the servant watched, bemused and perturbed. "sometimes i run away from home." she gave the words deadpan and matter-of-fact, then pondered her odd companion. "is that what you did?" somehow the meeting already was lifting the pain of crowfeather from her chest. belen pulled her mind away from the prince.
