you are a walking candle - Herja - April 10, 2022
exhaustion plagues her.
it weighs heavy in her aching muscles as herja decides — with little choice as her body demands rest — that the slumbering dragon ( though she knows not its name ) adorned in the early morning mist will work as temporary shelter.
her pace slows, pausing to lap at a puddle of clean rainwater. she does not linger long, seeking to investigate the rich vegetation in the hopes that it might reveal a small cave she could take shelter in while she rested.

Sometimes, on days like today, he roamed.
He ventured and begged and prayed something worthwhile would come to his attention. A herd's movement, a wolf moving in a rogue state.
The Rise needed more, forever and always.
It was unfortunate that he found a cutting figure with more beauty than he cared to admit. It was easy to remind himself this was a trip of business. He had not come to woo wild women.
He would eye her from a distance, uncertain and wary. Fitting her figure to memory before he carried on his way.
