That money just won't buy - Tierra - June 17, 2022

I know that I owe so many replies but one more new one <3

Tierra had been to visit @Towhee and her siblings at times since their birth, but took her job watching @Sybol now with surprising seriousness. For her, at least. It was the first job that she'd been given here that she was entirely equipped for and knowing that she could do it helped her enthusiasm immensely. It was hard for Tierra to get so excited when she expected something to go sideways anyway.

Mostly her 'watching' consisted of her hanging out nearby and either snooping on whoever happened to be nearby or daydreaming. Today she was settled next to the entrance to the place where her charge was recovering and thinking about what it would be like to be rescued like that herself. Imagine some tall dark stranger scooped her up and carried her off? She'd leave him in the dust as soon as he made it clear he wasn't actually super interesting, of course, but she would definitely enjoy the process. It had to be worth the broken ankle or whatever.

She sighed dreamily, then remembered what she was supposed to be doing and glanced at the den opening. Good? Still good.

Sybol's eyes opened. He raised his head slowly and looked around with confusion and surprise. Where am I? "He-hello?" He found it difficult to speak, almost as if he hadn't done so in some days. His memory was foggy but he remembered his rescuer.

She turned around when she heard words and got up. He was finally up then? Well, for now. It wasn't like he hadn't been before. That couldn't be good for you, right, constantly passing out like that? She had no clue but would guess not.

Hey. I got food, if you want it. She'd left a squirrel she'd caught earlier nearby and now she grabbed it and carried it over when she approached him, dropping it next to him. You aren't supposed to get up. Your ankle is busted. That was definitely a paraphrase of what Aquene had said but it got what was important across.

RE: That money just won't buy - Sybol - June 19, 2022

Sybol's tail thumped excitedly as the sight of his rescuer. "I remember you! I don't always remember things, I bump my head a lot." He frowned sheepishly. At the sight of the squirrel he began to stand until her next words of warning. "Oh yeah, I keep forgetting about that. I was kinda hobbling for a day on it so it didn't really help." He tore into the squirrel, scarfing it down, he couldn't remember the last time he'd eaten. Remembering his manners, Sybol quickly looked back up at his rescuer, "Thank you for bringing me here."

I can tell, she said, a little rudely but also smiling. She wasn't exactly joking but she wasn't trying to be mean either. It's no biggie. I mean, I did save your life. And even if you are scrawny, carrying you down was pretty hard. So you probably owe me, like, a huge favor or something. But you can just agree to do whatever I ask and we can be even.

Hey, it was fair, right? It would be so cool to be owed a life debt or something, and she never knew when a favor would come in handy. It wasn't like she was going to be mean, and he had been hard to drag down. Which... after the fact, she had to fight not to flush thinking about it. He'd been unconscious so she'd been too freaked at the time, but after, it was hard not to focus on the fact that he'd totally been just like... on top of her.

Tierra was firmly settled in "teenage hormone" territory and that meant she was happy to forget the part where he'd been totally out and focus on the other parts, like the tingles her spine got in hindsight. She was so not telling him any of that. But she was full on writing fan fiction in her head - that was happening whether she liked it or not.

RE: That money just won't buy - Sybol - June 21, 2022

"Sure! Anything!" He immediately agreed without even considering. "How far did you have to go anyway? I tried to get closer but I didn't want your pack to be mad at me." He frowned suddenly remembering his desperation that day. She had saved his life after all, he did truly owe her.

"I was really tired and couldn't keep walking and really needed help so I got as close as I could..." He trailed off, taking a minute to truly look at his rescuer. One of the first things that struck him were her eyes. Pure gold. He couldn't help but get lost in them. She was a bit bigger than he but it still would have been quite the struggle dragging him here. He could only imagine.

Realizing he was downright staring at her his face heated.  Remembering his manners he quickly spoke, "Sorry for staring, I just didn't get a chance to realize how beautiful you were before."

RE: That money just won't buy - Tierra - June 24, 2022

Perfect! She had no clue what she'd have him do but surely she'd think of something. And a life was worth a lot, so she could probably find, like, a whole lot of somethings. Tierra had no qualms about taking advantage of the situation.

Basically down an entire mountain. That was an exaggeration, but it had felt like it. It isn't a biggie because I'm super tough, but you're welcome. She preened under his attention and it only got worse the more he stared. Especially when he followed it up with absolutely the best compliment. See!? This, right here, was how a guy properly spoke to her.

Beautiful? She sat up, smiling at him with a coy look. I don't mind if you want to enjoy the view. Most of the guys here are just interested in fighting. She sighed. What's the point, if you never stop and just enjoy things every once in a while. Right!?

RE: That money just won't buy - Sybol - June 25, 2022

"A whole mountain?! Wow. I was never allowed to fight cause I'm too clumsy. Mama always said I was lucky I was born cute, with the manners to boot otherwise she'd of thrown me into the ocean by now. I learned everything eventually though." Sybol tilted his head towards the woman hoping his big mouth hadn't gotten him in trouble. "Mama also said I talk too much." Shrugging, he frowned and looked to the ground mumbling out. "You are really pretty though."

RE: That money just won't buy - Tierra - June 29, 2022

They are definitely going to make you fight here. Unless you want to just be a plebian forever, or something. She wrinkled her nose. It isn't like it's that hard though. I could totally teach you. I'm pretty much an expert, since the imperator has been, like, personally training me. He even said I'm amazing. A massive overstatement, but there was no way he'd know any better. Unless he was lying, she'd totally be able to kick his butt, and that meant she was clearly better than he was.

Wolves who don't talk are boring. Anytime anyone tells me that, I tell them to go somewhere else if they don't want to listen. She huffed a little at the idea of it. Sphyra was always annoying like that, acting like she was a crybaby or something just for talking. She missed her, a lot actually.

Maybe you aren't so dumb. Well, aren't blind at least. She smiled, then abruptly switched topics again. Her mind tended to move at a speed her mouth could barely keep up with and sometimes it showed. She hadn't had someone take this much interest in listening to her in a while. So! Kallik was, like, totally pissed about you staying here. He thought you were some kind of psycho murderer or something. I bet his pack is going to be even more uptight than this one is. She rolled her eyes, clearly expecting poor Sybil to both understand and agree with her.

And he thought he talked a lot.

RE: That money just won't buy - Sybol - June 29, 2022

Sybol wondered if he could fight after all. "What if I fall and trip over myself frequently when hunting?" He blurted out. "I um, I'm good at other things. Maybe I can fight. I dunno. You've never seen me walk or stand or anything though." He could feel his face heating.

When she mentioned a wolf angered by his appearance he burst out laughing. "Me? A Psycho murder? Mama used to say, Sybol, if you don't catch anything soon, even a bug I swear I'm dumping you in the ocean." His laughter tore at his rib. "OW OW OW! I think I broke my rib when I fell, it feels a lot better now but laughing hurts."

If you can't walk or stand, at least, like, normally, then maybe you are hopeless. There's totally no way, though. No one's that bad. It was different if he was injured, like now, but there was no way there was a single wolf out there who couldn't walk and had made it past, like, a week. She couldn't even imagine it. You just need a teacher. Don't worry, you'll probably never be as good as me, but you'll be awesome in no time.

Being a terrible hunter wouldn't be so bad if he could fight, she figured. Germanicus liked both and no wolf could be good at everything. Not even her (though she was good at more things than most, she bet). Like Germanicus - he was terrible at socializing. Thankfully he had other things that made up for it or he probably never would have been a leader.

Once you can walk, we should practice. Fighting and stuff. But we should probably wait for those to be better too, otherwise it's really gonna hurt when I pin you every time. She grinned at him. It felt good to feel confident about being better, especially after so long dealing with the opposite.

He was cute, when he laughed. Maybe, if he wasn't completely hopeless.... she'd let him get a pin or two in himself. Just to be fair.

if you want, we can fade this and they can have another! <3

RE: That money just won't buy - Sybol - July 18, 2022

[That'd be awesome, thanks!]

"Do you have good teachers around here? I do wanna learn, yaknow. I just never had good teachers I don't think. But mom and dad liked to move a lot, so I never really got a chance to learn much anyway."

She was a good person to keep him company, she kept pace with his chatter and filled his rare silent moments, he enjoyed her company and hoped to keep her friendship. He grinned back at her. "I hope one day, I'll be strong enough that I can even beat you." Then he couldn't help bursting out laughing again.
