No one loves the broken one - Inkeri - July 08, 2022

Inkeri sat along the bank of the river. Moon light dancing in and out of the broken clouds. Her eyes following it as it ebbed and flowed. Her own body tightly wound, shaking. Though she wasn't cold, not it was something else. Something deep inside her was broken and she couldn't handle it anymore. Briefly she would flit her eyes to the horizon, their glow lighting up her Sea-Green Eyes.

Reflections, images in the flowing water. Obscured her white and black until it all seemed one big swirl. And she knew then, she was not right. Had never been right and she would never be. She hadn't seen Anja in days. Lucius was out and about learning to hunt, and she didn't want him to constantly be at her beck and call. She was trying to get better, be better, do better.

But it was so very hard. A low whine began, and slowly she lifted her nose into a long mournful howl. Her voice rising over and under, reaching out to any and all. Her heart break, her own personal hell, breathing through every syllable.

A howl, long and mournful.

Now, he wasn't some sort of wilderness beast like most coyotes or wolves but he understood the language. Such a sound wasn't the norm. He almost dared to say it sounded like a death rattle — or perhaps he simply felt that touched by the sadness.

So he poked and prodded around until he saw a figure. Pale and lone. Sure looked awful somber like that. Moonlight by the creek, he might have found her pretty but that sure was a misplaced thought when somebody was suffering.

Ya all right?

Usually peppy features tugged down, as he offered her a bit of space in these trying times.

Inkeri had lowered her head back down, eyes downcast. The sound whisked away on the tails of the wind. She sighed. But she was struck from her melancholy, by a dog beast coming towards her. Long hair, white.

She lifted her head and met his gaze for a moment. Her thoughts racing, had he answered her howl. It hadn't meant to be answered, she simply had needed to let the sad song out of her head and her heart.

She did however, quickly avert her eyes and she gave a gentle shake of her head. No, but i've never been. Been. She winced at her mimcry. There it was raising it's ugly head to wind around her words and her soul. Another small point that she was broken, would always be broken.

I am Inkeri. Inkeri. She spoke softly, windswept the name away, she wasn't even sure if he could here. Her accent winding around it as well.

He noticed, but didn't comment, on how she seemed to repeat her words.

What he tried to focus on more was the sadness that clung to her like a wet shawl. As if any attempt to pull it off would just make it stick elsewhere.

He wondered if everybody here was just awfully grim, one step away from some tragedy. The old woman seemed as much too. Although she wasn't sad just...dying. Maybe already dead. He tried not to think about her too much now.

Wus to be dun to make ya feel better?

Tentatively he moved closer, prepared to sit next to her as support if she didn't push him away.

Inkeri tilted her ears forward and met his gaze. He was a kind stranger. And he did not seem upset that she bore markings of Svartravn. That she had black spots on her as devils do. She shook her head, though she tried a watery smile.

I do not know.

He sat near her, and she allowed him. She would not be as libertine with him as she was with Lucius, but she could take comfort in his presence. :What's your name? Name?::

Sometimes there was nothing that could be done, sometimes the emotions moved like a river and no stones could stop it, only redirect it.

Perhaps he could be a stone of distraction.

Lachlan. He offered with a brief, wry smile. Uncertain how much of his normal peppy demeanor would be welcomed here. Worth a shot, even if he sank with the ship for it.

Not as good as Inkeri. Where that name come from?

RE: No one loves the broken one - Inkeri - July 28, 2022

Inkeri knew her emotions would go eventually. And she also knew that some day she would need to learn to survive without Anja, but she had not expected it to be so soon and right now. And the worry that beat in her breast drove her mad with worry.

Lachlan. She tried out his name and though it was hard at first to get her tongue around some of the letters, she finally did. Her accent thick and heavy with it. Normally she could keep it fairly low, but with his name it was hard.

She smiled. elfenbenravn. That is my home and where I was named.

RE: No one loves the broken one - Lachlan - July 29, 2022

Elfenbenravn, eh?

The name was most certainly slaughtered around his own accent, more a chuffing of sounds than any actual words.

Now where is it?

His eyes briefly looked around, as if somebody from this elfenbenravn might swoop in to collect her all at once. Not a terribly wild thought, right?

Inkeri shifted and nodded her head. A small smile fluttering around her lips at his attempt. A small trill of a giggle though she fought to quiet to.

She shook her head no. Far away. Away. We traveled days and days to get here.

She ran a paw in the dirt making crude shapes of what her home looked like and the travel here.
