If this isn't good for me - Sokha - July 10, 2022

It had been many long days since she had last visited @Ramesses, the divine Pharaoh.

Akashingo still mourned, he more than any as she would have guessed. Sokha sought to be prepared to lift his spirits whenever she was able, or whenever he called. He had not, so she intended to visit him by her own accord. She had a new song for him to hear and she would certainly not miss out on an opportunity to show off her devotion to him.

Today she found him slumped over upon his throne. Leisurely, she entered. But instead of sinking her figure into a submissive cower, Sokha approached confidently; still graceful and poised as always.

Once before him, the lithe one bowed her head in greeting. Pharaoh. She spoke evenly, tone smooth and succulent.

I have a new song to share with you, should you like to hear it. It was an upbeat tune — one she thought would come new to him, but joyous to his spirit all the same.

sokha sought him out.
in the aftermath of germanicus' words, she still had lost no loveliness. ramesses mourned satsu day and night. jawahir, his jewel, no longer attended him, committed to the work of nursing royal children. but this was a punishment that one deserved to suffer for such treachery. treva was still in childbed, and he had long been without the stirring of his flesh.
he was vital and alive at once as she came to him, lifting his head and setting his eyes upon her. "please."
ramesses waited to hear.

Swaying her tail, oh so gently, Sokha tipped her head to the side while sending a light smile his way. Chuffing, she beckoned him.

Unlike the others, this is no ballad to simply sit and listen. She waited for a moment to see if he would come to join her on what was to be their dance floor. If to see justice for the tune, she really wanted to see him truly enjoy himself; to accompany her, rather be one of a barren audience.

was sokha teasing him?
for a long moment pharaoh did not stir. and then he slid from his throne and slowly approached.
his head was higher than her own; he only looked at her with fathomless lapis eyes. germanicus had named her a suspect. in the ache of her beauty, however, he could not agree.

He was hesitant, but she waited patiently nonetheless.

Finally, the divine one approached, gaze settling over her. Sokha's tail began to sway slowly, vocals humming the opening line of the song she had prepared. Circling the Pharaoh, she teased him with a few gentle nudges before creating space. The further away she moved, the heavier her steps became, drumming a beat. Then her whole body moved, swaying left and right.

"There will come a soldier
Who carries a mighty sword
He will tear your city down
Oh lei, oh lai, oh, Lord
Oh lei, oh lai, oh lei, oh, Lord
He will tear your city down
Oh lei, oh lai, oh lei, oh, Lord..."

Her eyes had closed themselves midway through the verse, but now they peered open, watching Ramesses to see how he would fare with the tune. Sokha longed for him to come near, to dance alongside her, to feel the melodic thrum of her heart.

"There will come a poet
Whose weapon is His word
He will slay you with His tongue
Oh lei, oh lai, oh, Lord
Oh lei, oh lai, oh lei, oh, Lord
He will slay you with His tongue
Oh lei, oh lai, oh, Lord..."

The song went on, seeming nowhere it's end. Her feet continued to tap, holding the rhythym steady. All the while, even with her movements, her voice did not falter, remaining sweet and nostalgic to a moment even she couldn't remember.

"There will come a ruler
Whose brow is laid in thorn
Smeared with oil like David's boy
Oh lei, oh lai, oh, Lord
Oh lei, oh lai, oh lei, oh, Lord
Smeared with oil like David's boy
Oh lei, oh lai, oh, Lord
Oh lei, oh lai, oh lei, oh, Lord
He will tear your city down, oh lei, oh lai..."

It was the last verse, and so she would make it the best. These words would hold firm, preparing the sole listener for the grand finale.

"Ohh
Oh lei, oh lai, oh lei, oh lai, oh
Oh lei, oh lai, oh lei, oh lai, oh
Oh lei, oh lai, oh lei, oh lai
Oh lei, oh lai, oh lei, oh lai, oh."

Each note had strung out, running smoothly across her tongue. Each note followed the next with ease, traveling through the air until the cloud breeze ceased.

Sokha was tired by the end of it, limbs sore from the elongated dance. Sliding downward, she let her body rest upon the cold floor. For a moment, she considered only herself, her exhaustion causing her to forget her audience. When she remembered, her warm eyes found Ramesses. She was eager to know his thoughts. Had she fulfilled her purpose coming here? Had he been entertained well? Had he been pleased? Was his mourning heart appeased for even the smallest of time?

<3 love it!

sokha was a skilled entertainer. ramesses found himself singed by her touch. his eyes did not move from her figure as she sang. at first the words of her song seemed a threat. a warning. the danger of it enchanted pharaoh further and he found his heart at a gallop.
a poet who rose with a sword. a ruler with anointed brow. she held her notes. she held her steps. he was dazzled and transfixed.
ramesses believed she spoke of germanicus and siptah, though the poet had yet to show himself. his eyes narrowed. she was an oracle, he felt.
her voice was rich, filling the last notes with passion.
she dropped to pant at his feet, and her eyes were filled with a hundred things when she raised them to him.
ramesses slipped from his throne. he embraced her reverently. "in this moment i feel no pain."

Fur now lain flat against her lithe bodice, she fixed herself a bit more properly upon the floor. But her eyes never left him. Their hold upon him was tight, gleaming carefully unto his soul.

"In this moment i feel no pain." He spoke the truth of what had been the purpose of her visit: to relinquish the grief and sorrow for as long as she was able.

The pharaoh came forth to embrace her, and while not being able to resist, Sokha leaned back into his touch. Then you should stay in this moment longer. It was a daring and bold statement, but she spoke it with confidence, tone soft and compelling.

ramesses wanted to remain.
her body against his own was sweet. his figure had been untouched, ungroomed. he had given himself wholly to the machinations of grief.
"i will call for you," pharaoh said at last and reluctantly. his eyes spoke a thousand things, even as he drew away to stand regally at sokha's side.

RE: If this isn't good for me - Sokha - July 28, 2022

"I will call for you."

She did not want him to go, but she could not make him stay.

As the pharaoh, Sokha turned her head. Daringly, she offered a lick to his shoulder; a gesture of respect, affection, and farewell.

I look forward to it, my pharaoh, The mazoi uttered softly, tone hushed and sincere.

ramesses kissed her cheek.
he pulled away.
and when she had gone, he stood in the shadow of her fragrance and closed his eyes.
