Fiddler's green - Foxtail - September 20, 2022 The eastward trek had returned him to a stretch of shoreline. There was little reason to turn away from it when the sun was low in the sky and great shadows crept to swallow the earth in darkness. Foxtail preferred the sound of lapping waves to lull him to sleep. He wasn’t sure that he could find a good night’s rest in the dark of the forest to the south. Stepping toward a lush bay, the pirate halted and lowered his head to sniff deeply at the sands that marked the edge of the territory. There were wolves in the bay. Foxtail paced a few steps and then walked in four circles before he returned to the spot where he had scented a marking, possibly from a group intending to make a claim. It was a fine stretch of land with good hunting grounds nearby. The red-tailed man lifted his head and squinted across the beach. RE: Fiddler's green - Erwin - September 20, 2022
The air... a wretched stench of salt and sea. As a pirat, one would think such a scent would be pleasing. It wasn't. He could have spent his entire life by the murky waters and it wouldn't have helped.
But onward he moved, closing in on the nearest beach. There was someone here Erwin could swear he knew. As he got closer, and closer, the assumptions became true. A figure soon came to view. Then a scent — one that he was able to reach over that of the sea to find. Fauler köter. Not becoming a deserter now, are we?The behemoth now stood directly behind the other's form. He stood to the brim of height his mass allowed, head hulked over his chest in a prepotent manner. The captain prepared for any answer he'd be given. Even for the worst. For Foxtail, anyhow. RE: Fiddler's green - Foxtail - September 20, 2022 The Rat appeared, hulking and massive. A creature so vile that he smelled of death. He spoke to Foxtail in a suffocating tone. The pirate had steadied himself already. He could handle the captain’s ways, the roughness. They were there for another - they were there for the red-furred one. Only a fool would dare,Foxtail answered steadily. The jade glimmer of his eyes shifted toward the murky giant of a man. The fire-tailed figure would never consider angering the behemoth. He nodded toward the bay with a thoughtful frown and a squint. Could be pirates. Scents are there. What would he make of it? RE: Fiddler's green - Erwin - September 20, 2022
Only a fool, eh? What an answer.
Fools do stupid things. Especially they would dare.Erwin circled the red furred slowly, hot breath fuming against the body.. the ear.. the tail. The movement did not cease until directly against Foxtail's left flank, skull looming overhead. I truly hope you are no such thing, little fox.Seething, bitter words. A quaint warning, and the only that would be given. Then on his direction went toward the bay. This bay is not of our claim. If any reside, we shall stay clear of their path unless the cross ours.Simple, dismissive. Erwin was all for a good bloody brawl or two, but he would not be stupid enough to start one he could not finish with triumph. RE: Fiddler's green - Foxtail - September 20, 2022 Foxtail hated that - little fox. It seethed inside of him. But the trickster’s eyes gleamed with him. The stormy figure swayed slightly before he shook his sharp snout. Could never be, sir. Haven’t got deserter in me. I’m here hm? Looking for him for you, captain.Alizarin was their target. Foxtail did not want the Rat to shift his focus and become the target of his wrath. He might have been a dirty pirate, but he was no fool. Lark knew better. He had faced more fearsome brutes than the murky captain who eyed him. With the dismissal of the bay, Foxtail shrugged and shifted his frame to face the east. Best to appease the Rat before speaking again. The trickster did not want to appear forceful to the looming man who stood with him. Where to, captain? RE: Fiddler's green - Erwin - September 21, 2022
Could always be, more like. Anyone had the capability to take on such a daring position — even one so low as a naive fool.
But according to this one, he was far from it, and so would always be. Erwin would be sure to always remind him of this oath. Never would be forget it. Hm.The rat hummed gruffly. It will be no easy feat to find Alizarin alone. We overpowered him once, but are numbers now are not the same. The first step is to relocate the others... hell, even replacing them would suffice. I don't give a shit, so long as we have enough bodies to destroy that mutt and those whom he holds dear to his heart.Of those within their pathetic little band of pirates, Erwin had held the largest grudge against the red wolf's refusal. It wouldn't be something to let slide. There will be no mercy when the time comes for fate to reunite them. RE: Fiddler's green - Foxtail - September 22, 2022 They’d need numbers, then. The red-tailed pirate nodded. Foxtail could not help but wonder if Alizarin had found himself in the company of other pirates. It would do them no good to wage war on natives, but the captain wanted his man. There would not be anyone on the Rat’s crew who would question his motives. The trickster knew better, too. Whatever kept him safe, whatever kept him employed. East then? Haven’t caught a sniff of Alizarin on the coast, not yet. Doesn’t mean he isn’t here, though. The lean figure’s eyes shifted toward the captain. He licked his whiskers. Could move further inland, maybe.Foxtail hoped that the captain would suggest they split up. RE: Fiddler's green - Erwin - November 21, 2022
Erwin took a moment of his silence to consider something. If they were to grow, moving around endlessly would do them no good.
We'll split up here.He decided. Each of us will stray our own way in search of a territory to claim as our own. It will be easier then. In the time of three moon rises, let us meet back here to share our findings. This seemed the best choice for them both. But if Foxtail had other ideas, he should speak such now. |
