Now you can't not throw it - Chacal - December 27, 2022

Chacal felt restless. With the heaviness of winter settling in, she began to set her sights on the future, and had many things to consider. If the involvement of Sapphique in the matters that seized the Rise, or if they should not be involved whatsoever. More important to her, personally, was the task that she felt would be upon her soon. She could feel her energy gathering- but this year, she would have much further to travel, she thought.

She would not call upon Ashlar of the Rise. Not for the complications it would bring about.

So she searched the beach- at twilight, with the stars glistening in the sky above her, she called out with a sirensong- to see if there were any others seized by the chilly air who might be tempted out into the darkness, on the cliffs high above the crashing waves, to dance.

RE: Now you can't not throw it - Void - December 27, 2022

Void was around the area after his expedition and joining of Moonglow. He heard the females call. It was unique. But he could sense the meaning behind it. He padded over in its direction and caught the faint scent that he’d smelled before.

He was immature and frankly dangerous last year when he reacted to this though. And that hadn’t done him any good. So with his changing ways he took a different approach in this matter as well. He padded over calmly but boldly, letting out a strong but not threatening bark into the air to announce his presence.

Her mood was featherlight. Each breath she inhaled fueled her, and while she was not at the cliffs that she knew best, she still blossomed in the saltwind that coursed through her pelt. The constant crash and pull of waves in the distance kept her grounded; it was like a heartbeat that calmed her.

The wolf who spoke up caught her attention, and with bright eyes and a waving tail she turned and began to scout in the darkness to see him. His silhouette blocked out the stars along the horizon behind him and from what she could see, he was tall. He bore scars, and the scent of other wolves. Perhaps he was moored to a pack, but it did not smell like any that raised a red flag in her mind. He smelled of forest, of elk and earth. His eyes were bright, but in them she saw no demon.

He was drawn in by her song and rewarded with a smile. She dipped into a playbow, and yipped, to see just how receptive he was to her spirited invite.

Void started to circle her, light on his feet, almost dancing. His tail was straight up along with his ears, his eyes bright, almost asking for an invitation with his ways and he smiled, and let himself be playful and light as he circled her. He stepped in, sniffing her, then nudging her, trying to get her to do the same to him. And also asking for an invitation to do more, at the same time. Something he knew they both yearned for. Something he messed up his chances for last season

RE: Now you can't not throw it - Chacal - December 29, 2022

She would keep him from seeing the gold of her shoulderblades, turning lightly on her heel so that she could keep her eyes fast upon him. Not out of fear or out of a need to be defensive- but because it was a part of the dance. His step was light, and there was a mildness about his lips that proclaimed no demon. When he came toward her, she pressed her ears forward and exhaled, before breathing in his scent as he did hers. Acknowledgement of one another, and a familiarization that was peaceful, congenial.

When he moved forward to nudge her shoulder, he would be greeted with a low growl. Her teeth remained sheathed and her expression pleasant- but she wasn't willing to let him have the luxury of touch, not without earning it.

Without warning, she whirled and frisked away, bounding several strides before she whirled once more and barked twice. It was the only invitation he'd get, before she bolted away- aiming to test his speed and endurance.

Void was unsure what was happening. But his instinct told him to follow her, and to be fast. He bounded after the female, letting out a bark on his own. He soon reached her, and poised himself in a dominant stance, making himself bigger than he already was and trying to appear in control. He was ready and he was hoping she was too. He pawed her shoulder this time instead of nudging it, but firmly. He kept his paw there, as if telling her to stay and let his work happen.

RE: Now you can't not throw it - Chacal - January 01, 2023

His display of speed was impressive, but he was bold- and quick to gesture for her to submit to his desires which riled her spirit. The jackal was not so easily subdued, especially not when commanded to do so by a man. The touch of his paw to her shoulder was his foot, pushing her down.

She was snatched from her sprightly mood in that moment. Men had no place making demands of her; She snarled and snapped at the paw that sought to corral her into his embrace, and lunged toward him with loud barks to drive him off- little more than a bluff charge- but a harmless way of making her point which would leave both of them unscathed, but would communicate her point.

Stiff-legged, she put distance between the two of them, eyeing him warily. She did not want to have to run from him, and she did not want to fight him, either. She hoped he might simply turn and leave. It wasn't as though she was even receptive yet- simply flirting to determine a possible match for when her season did arrive- but this man was abruptly taken off the list.

RE: Now you can't not throw it - Void - January 01, 2023

Void dipped his head dropping into a submissive pose, immediately realizing he’d made a wrong move. He let out a whine, apoligetic. The cock of his head showed he was asking if he could try again, or if they could just continue, but he could judge by the distance she’d put and the coldness that had just replaced the feelings in the air that there was a slim chance

i don’t know how things work and was genuinely confused last post on what to do and portrayed it through void so i’m sry for that ;-;
idk what i’m doing. it’s his first time and mine doing a conception thing

RE: Now you can't not throw it - Chacal - January 01, 2023

It's all good! she's just very quick to "NOPE" sometimes :')

She was appeased by his reaction, and sheathed her teeth, satisfied that he wouldn't try to be dominant again. He had every reason to want to try to prove himself strong and capable- most males wanted to be seen that way, but Chacal had been raised in a different environment- one where women led. Of course, he wouldn't know this and it was likely poor form for her to cut off his advances as he'd not been informed.

But Chacal was a proud wolf- and she felt justified in denying him what he'd wanted. She chuffed, and moved to depart, the stiff action in her trot and the raised hackles at her withers an indication that she did not want to be pursued.

Void took the hint and started back in the direction he came, still holding himself with pride as to not show the disappointment in messing up his first chance this year at something like this.
oh, ok
