each day provides its own gifts - Shadow - October 29, 2014

@Flash mi hermano :D also happy birthday to Flash :P

It was early morning and the sun had not risen yet, and the Imperator woke. Quietly unfurling himself from his mate, he placed a soft kiss on her forehead and walked silently out, not wishing to wake her up yet. He found that waking up early and sleeping early helped him concentrate better. Shadow did not navigate himself, instead let his paws do the work, let the gods guide him to where he should be today. When he shook himself out of his thoughts, out of his daydream, he noticed he was in Silva Stellarum, close to where he knew was Flash's den. He found that he cared for Flash like he cared for Scipio and Valerius and Arcadius and Aemilia and Lucius and countless of his other siblings. Except Flash was not his sibling, at least not sibling by blood. And he would never be able to replace his true blood siblings, but he still cared for the tawny yearling like family, despite the fact they had only known for a month? Two? He didn't keep track of it.

His paws (or maybe the gods) led him to the entrance of Flash's den and he trotted in, calling in a soft voice, wanting to wake him up, but not wake him up at the same time. You know, Apollo will be pulling the sun across the sky soon, paulo frater. he had taught Flash those two words in latin. When put together, it meant little brother, if Flash wanted to be a Roman and had concentrated on his studies, he would know, and he would understand.

Thanks bro :D

Flash was snuggled warm and cozy into his nest, having a dream about himself chasing rabbits...until a voice broke through the great dream. You know, Apollo will be pulling the sun across the sky soon, paulo frater. With that he yawned slightly, slowly recognising the voice as Shadow's. He bolted up, surprised to see the ashen alpha at his nest. Paulo frater... Didn't those two words mean "little" and "brother"? Wouldn't that made little brother?

He shook his head slightly, making sure that he had not mistaken him for somebody else or was still in a dream. Once completely woken up, the golden male rose to his feet, carefully tucking his tail in. Why the silver alpha was in his den was still a mystery to him. Was he going to get another lesson on romans?

"Salve, Shadow. What brings you here today?" He asked. Keen to prove that he didn't forget the things that the ashen male had taught him, Flash deliberately used Salve instead of hello. He could only hope he wasn't in trouble. Probably not, as the expression on the silver male's face was not one of anger, though by now he had learnt that Shadow could hide his emotions well.

Thinking of it, he could actually count Shadow as a friend now. These months they had grown closer and closer. In fact, Shadow was like a brother to him now. Perhaps another lesson on the language of rome wasn't going to be bad either. "Has Apollo already dragged the sun across the sky? I have not noticed." The golden male questioned. "Or are you here for another roman lesson?"

He was by Flash's side the moment he bolted up, keen eyes did not miss the fact that the wolf immediately tucked his tail in. "Salve, Shadow. What brings you here today?". He smiled gently at the golden wolf, touched his nose to his head as a gesture of friendliness and greetings then scooted to the side where he sat down and motioned to Flash for him to sit down too. Don't be too rushed, frater. he said softly. I am not here for lessons of Rome, nor has the sun risen yet. I did not mean to come upon your den, Flash, but the gods and the fates have led me here. I trust you do remember the fates? he tilted his head questionly, wondering if he had remembered any more knowledge of Rome. History was a terrible and boring thing, if you chose to make it boring.

And so there must be a reason the gods have sent me here today, do you have any idea, it must be somehow related to you. Shadow tilted his head and waited for an answer. If it was about Flash, then he would know, it only depends on whether he chose to reveal it or hide it. Given the close bond he felt they had, he hoped the wolf he now considered almost to be his brother, would trust him and tell him.

RE: each day provides its own gifts - Flash - November 02, 2014

actually had to search the fates up... and i kept thinking of the song It's my birthday :P

Don't be too rushed, frater. I am not here for lessons of Rome, nor has the sun risen yet. I did not mean to come upon your den, Flash, but the gods and the fates have led me here. I trust you do remember the fates? The silver alpha started. The fates...The fates...Come on brain, work! He thought frantically as he attempted to remember. He took a small breath, calming down and allowing his mind to rest.

"The fates, also known as the Parcae in roman. They decided the lifespan and the future of a roman right?" He said and hoped he was right. If he wasn't... then he could only hope he didn't embarrass himself. Hopefully he was right and didn't disappoint the alpha.

And so there must be a reason the gods have sent me here today, do you have any idea, it must be somehow related to you. Flash thought of which day it was. It's near the end of october... Wait a second... isn't that "My birthday. It's my birthday" He said in disbelief. Had he left the Spiritfire family for a whole year? He had left on his birthday, now was his birthday again...

Hoping the ashen alpha didn't take it the wrong way and thought he was unwelcomed, Flash quickly add on, "Sorry if I zoned out for a while. It's just that I left my old pack today last year. Then he reminded himself that his birthday had other purposes. "On a happier note, I'm two years old! “ He said, a grin coming onto his face.

"The fates, also known as the Parcae in roman. They decided the lifespan and the future of a roman right?" the sides of his lips quirked upwards, "It seems you remember my lessons well, little brother." he said jokingly, wondering what would be Flash's reaction when he heard the word little brother. It was time to see if Flash thought of him as a brother or just the superior and Imperator. "My birthday. It's my birthday" exclaimed Flash. Ahh so that was it. His birthday. The Gods do well to remember the dates of birth of his family. Shadow blinked happily at him, "Congrats Flash. Welcome to the responsibilities of being a full adult and well now...now you know to be careful around a girl." he smirked.

The normally stoic Roman allowed himself a faint smile as he leaned forward the brush his friend's cheek as a gesture of friendship and congratulations. It was not any day a wolf turned two, in fact each wolf only had one each lifetime. So they could treasure their childhood and appreciate their adulthood when they look back in time. Although Shadow doubted he would appreciate his adulthood when he was an elderly old man.

sorry for short post, didn't know what to write

."It seems you remember my lessons well, little brother." Shadow spoke up to his answer on what the fates were, so he WAS right, that was good. Then the last words rang out. Little... Brother? Thinking about it, he did think of Shadow as a brother, just a slightly distant one.

Shadow reacted happily to his remembrance of his birthday though. "Congrats Flash. Welcome to the responsibilities of being a full adult and well now...now you know to be careful around a girl." The last sentence made Flash blush slightly, but still unidentifiable with his tawny fur. He smiled, trying to cover up the slight moment of embarrassment.

Thank you Shadow. I am glad to offer my service to Noctisardor Bypass and to you. That was true, Flash was glad he had joined Noctisardor Bypass. The territory was now familiar to him, from all his hunts and patrols. That was surely a good thing... right? He had also joined ranks with the romans, from which he couldn't be gladder he had. It seemed like he had finally made a good decision in his life.

Concluding this :)

The Roman laughed, a hearty, genuine sound. "Not many wolves would say that, Flash. Thank you." he smiled at the wolf he considered to be a little brother. Shadow would remember this date, the day when Flash turned a year older, the tawny male's birthday. With a tilt of his head and another smile, the Roman got to his paws and flicked his tail. "Come on, today, we shall feast like kings, for you are a year older and a year wiser." And with that, he made his way to the plains, knowing Flash was following.
